Needed this prime for a while but do not use enough to warrant buying the Nikon version. All reviews gave it excellent ratings and I have to say I agree. Have used only a couple times but results are fantastic. Will be using it to shoot a wedding this weekend. Sharp focus and great colors off of my D4 AND D850. Solid build. Would recommend this lens.

I haven't calibrated this lens for 6D yet. Image looks decent without calibration in 6D. But this lens is for the 40+ MP pro bodies! It is tempting me to buy the EOS R! I am not a fanboy of either Sony or Canon's. I love the best of both worlds. And Tamron is delivering amazing options for both worlds! When they declared they have put all of their experience into this lens, it was not an overstatement.I adapted it on Sony A7III with the Sigma MC-11 and I must say, It focuses in my bedroom at night as fast as the Sony FE 24 mm f/1.4 GM which I own! However, with the adapter it goes around 1000g on the A7III. Also, in my completely silent bedroom, I can here the noise of the autofocus motor moving. I don't think it will affect video recording in outdoors. I will keep testing. But the quality of image I am getting is absolutely worth it.I am writing this review as my initial impression. I will keep updating and add pictures as I try it for astrophotography, and landscapes...portraits as well.This review is entirely my subjective opinion from two-days experience. Please take it with a grain of salt. But I expect this lens will become tremendously popular as soon as Tamron brings its mirrorless version in the market. Until then, I will keep and adapt it.

I ordered what is supposed to be a brand new lens. When i opened the box, I can immediately see the difference between a brand new lena from factory and a lens yhat has been opened and put back. In my case, it's the latter.There are also two strands of human hair on the wrapping !Disgusting !Add to that when I removed the wrapping, there are finger prints and smudges on the lens' body!Thank you BH for wasting my time and gas !It will be on it's way back to BH when I get home from work later !

On 5Dsr the resolution matches up to the full potential on high resolution sensors, including the R7. Build quality is second to none. Excellent sharpness wide open with beautiful fall off and out of focus rendering. Very well corrected lens. Go out and buy one.

And nobody could tell me what was going on, until I contacted Tamron service, and they told me the lens was incompatible with BOTH my Canon bodies. I had to return the lens today..... what a crying shame.
My first experiance with the Tamron was with the 35mm f/1.8. I reluctantly sold that lens to afford another items. Every time that I took a look at the photos that I had made with that lens I promised myself that I would buy it again. When the time came to make the purchase I was swayed to go for the 1.4. I'm very glad that I did. Both the f/1.8 and the f/1.4 bring a certain kind of character to my images that are pleasing to my eye. I am found of low key B&W images and this lens just nails that look for me. Color is correct, rich and vibrant. I shoot with the Z6, D810 and the DF.

In this day and age, having a 'secret-weapon' of a lens, replete with fast & accurate auto focus, beautiful coatings, a unique look, and just good overall usability-well, it doesn't occur often.This thing renders like a Summilux wide open. It is an absolute beauty.Tamron, if you're reading this, *please* run with this formula.

After 4+ hours of focus tests and camera adjustments, I decided I wouldn't be able to work with this lens with any real peace of mind. I'd get it fairly corrected for close focus, then the distant focus would suffer, and vice versus. Aperture changes didn't improve anything. But I bought it to use at 1.4-2.0 range. Also, when comparing it with side by side shots of the same object taken with my Nikkor 85 f/1.8G, the Tamron lacked a considerable amount of image detail. (This was for a close up focus). I would like to be able to turn to Tamron again if this isn't a pervasive issue. For now, I purchase a Nikon replacement from Adorama, and can't complement Adorama enough on their customer service.
