Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangler Black Gloss

I’ve been stuck to my other (brand name I will not disclose) detangling brush that has been around for years but the Tangle Teezer brush has given it a run for it’s money! This brush worked great on my hair! For context, I have wavy, long, color treated hair that I style roughly 3 times per week. I like that the bristles are soft enough to touch, but strong enough to do the job without feeling like I’m ripping my hair out. I haven’t used this brush with heat, but that’s only because I have other brushes I use specifically for that, and it’s made with a bean oil so… probably not the best idea for those saying they don’t like it with heat! My wet brush is my ride or die, so I was very skeptical trying this brush. One of my biggest gripes with the wet brush is how dust and hair collect on the little beads at the end of each bristle. This brush doesn’t have those little beads at the end and I feel like it definitely wouldn’t collect dust like my wet brush. I LOVE the handle on this thing and it feels super natural to hold. It’s lightweight but feels sturdy at the same time. I have to admit that my wet brush does detangle my hair faster, but this brush seems to get the tangles out better if that makes sense? Sometimes when I use my wet brush I still actually have tangles if I went over it with a comb after, but this one comes out super tangle-free and smooth. This one is nice, I loved the coral light peach color that it is official name is “apricot blaze”. I like that it doesn’t pick up as much lint or dust in it because it doesn’t have the fabric that is on most brushes. Also it is much easier to clean compared to other brushes. The actual bristles (325 tiered teeth) are flexible which helps with pulling and prevents hair breakage and it evenly distributes product (like leave in conditioner for example). The comfortable handle is easy to grip and thin which I love. I wouldn’t recommend using it with a blow dryer since it could melt. I think their products are definitely worth a try for the unique “teeth” that they have, unless you need a new brush though it’s not something to go out and buy immediately.

Regarding the bristles, I would prefer they were a tad longer. When using this brush on my hair while it’s dry, the bristles were not long enough to reach my scalp. This was not a problem when brushing my hair while it was wet, and when the bristles did reach my scalp, they were quite lovely…a mini head massage! Another issue I had while using the Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangler Plant Brush was the number of strands of hair that came out each time I used it. I’ve included some photos showing how much hair was lost during one thorough brushing of my full head of hair, once when wet and once when dry. The brush was completely hair free before each of these used. As you can see in the pics, a substantial amount of hair was pulled out or broken. More so when my hair was dry than when it was wet. I’ve not seen this with other hairbrushes I’ve used. I don’t typically deal with many tangles so I can’t comment on the Tangle Teezer’s effectiveness with removing them. I was happy the brush didn’t cause frizz or flyaways. That’s a PLUS in my book! I’m impressed with the aesthetics and visual appeal of the Ultimate Detangle Brush and appreciate its eco-friendly composition. I believe developing products that are earth-conscious is ALWAYS a good thing! Unfortunately, the Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangle Plant Brush just isn’t an ideal match for me. I would, however, recommend it for those with thinner or straight hair.

This is a nice looking brush and is popular, but personally, I just don’t think it’s good. It’s ok for a quick brush through, but unlike the name, it’s not good at getting tangles out at all. My hair doesn’t even get that tangled since I braid it every night, but this doesn’t even do good for small tangles. The bristles are flimsy and only brush the top layer of hair. The bristles literally just bend unless your hair is already brushed smooth. I have straight, medium volume hair, and my hair is soft, so the problem is not that my hair is too thick or rough. It’s not an awful brush, just don’t expect it to do a great job at detangling.

I loved the color and packaging that it came in. For how well it worked - my hair is fine and straight. The bristles are a harder material, but also have a lot of give so there is almost a softer type feel to it. This worked well in my hair and I had no issues with detangling. My daughter though has thick curly hair. She tried using the brush when her hair was very tangled and it had a harder time with it. It would work, but took a long time of repeated going over smaller sections. For her hair we tend to use our other detangler brush on the really messy hair days. Best hairbrush ever!!

This brush became my favorite brush I’ve ever used the first time I tried it! To test it out, I used it to brush one half of my hair and I used my old Wet Brush to brush the other half, and I definitely noticed a difference. The Tangle Teezer glided right through my tangles with very minimal resistance, whereas the Wet Brush was harder to get through my hair without pulling or ripping it. I have wavy hair that’s medium thickness, but the strands are fine so breakage is a concern for me. I definitely believe that the Tangle Teezer will reduce breakage from brushing my hair since it’s so gentle. I also love that it’s way easier to clean than my old hairbrush, since it doesn’t have the little balls on the ends of the bristles! The original Tangle Teezer can't reach my scalp because my hair's too thick. This version works so well for my thick, waist-long, slightly wavy hair, I'm here to buy another by request :D! Highly recommended it for those with thick, but not SUPER dense hair. It's truly the best hair brush I've ever used, owned, or tried. Pros: Able to reach down to my scalp whilst brushing. Detangles well. Adds shine. The ONLY hairbrush I'd EVER use on wet or damp hair because the bristles are flexible. The peach color is really pretty, imo. Was worried the light color and material would discolor with use but it hasn't after a year. Hasn't caused my hair to charge with static. Handle is comfortable to hold whilst brushing. (Zoom in on the product picture to see what I mean.) -Bristles are flexible, so they are prone to becoming misshaped. (Mine arrived a bit damaged.) -Because the bristles are so pliable, I don't really know where to safety store it so the bristles don't bend or misshapen unnecessarily. -A bit pricey, imo. -Should come with a slim, fitted box for storage and travel. -Because the tips of each bristle is so flexible, those with extremely densely-packed hair growth (i.e. your scalp isn't at all visible from any angle) might feel like this brush isn't brushing their hair at all. -I still require a stiffer-bristled brush (but this brush is the best for brushing the length of my very long hair). -Some may not appreciate how lightweight it feels to hold/ use. (I wasn't at first, but got use to the weight of it fairly quickly).

Untrustworthy seller

I purchased this item since it was advertised as "Tangle Teezer The Large Ultimate Detangling Hair Brush - Peach". As you can see in the pictures this is not an authentic Tangle Teezer brush. The brand name on the original brush is on the back of the handle which this one clearly does not have. Also, the packaging is not an authentic Tangle Teezer box but just a regular clearl package. After realizing this brush is not authentic I returning my item in September and I still have not received my refund. The seller emailed me stating the window for a return has closed. How is that possible when it is the sellers responsibility to file a refund once the item is returned. It is now November and this issue has not been resolved.
