Works every time. This one has an audible temperature alert (set the desired temperature for doneness, and unit will beep when food temperature is reached). No overcooked food here! The temperature probe has a long, thin wire cable to reach the base unit outside a closed oven or grill. (The unit should be placed at a safe distance from heat source to avoid overheating unit- we used another one that worked well for very many years until it came in prolonged contact with the lid of the grill.)

It works as advertised! Love the fact that you don't need to keep opening the oven to check the temperature. Tested the 1st time with my old thermometer and the accuracy between the two was pretty accurate. No need for me to get a fancier one that I can monitor on my phone

I purchased Taylor Gourmet Programmable stainless Steel Probe Thermometer with Timer because I lost mine. My original one worked perfectly. This new one was defective in that it could never turn on even with replacement of their batteries. I returned it and did an even exchange for it. Luckily I opened up the second purchase and tried to turn it on and no luck. Customer Service, three women, attempted to turn it on and it also did not work. I had my own batteries and it also did not work. If I could give it a zero, I would. I received a refund of my purchase and disappointed that I will have to try another product.
I used this thermometer only 3-4 times a month to make an occasional steak. It was working fine for a year and then noticed the temp was reading higher than accurate, which lead to steaks coming out raw instead of medium rare. I figured out to just let it the meat cook for an extra 10 degrees and that's been working out. Now the temp switched to LO and no amount of resetting or battery changing is fixing it. Others sound like they're saying it's the probe's wiring that malfunctions. Do not buy unless you're fine getting around a year of occasional use or probably a lot less if used frequently.
This is literal garbage. After the first one we purchased burned out after a couple uses we decided that we should get the upgraded model. We do not use this very frequently but it is nice while grilling or baking chicken. The first few weeks it worked great until it stopped reading the temperature and always had on a high temp alert. I tried new batteries and resetting the thermometer but again always the high temp is on. I found out if I hold the cord at just the right angle it shows the temperature for just a second sometimes. Anyways we decided it was just not worth the hassle and wanted to try different brand of cooking thermometer.
The meat thermometer works well. I gave it three stars because it has a very serious limitation. You can’t use it in ovens over 392 degrees. That makes it less functional. I didn’t check those specs before I purchased it.
after a couple months the beep to indicate the desired temp stopped working, which completely defeats the purpose of this thermometer. yes, i can still see the internal temp of what’s cooking with the oven door closed, but if i wanted to constantly be monitoring it i’d have gotten a cheaper thermometer.
I love it at first. It was fast reading, and the option to set a target temperature and alarm was really useful instead of constantly opening the oven to check for doneness. Purchased in August 2019, and winter 2021, mine started to exhibit the same signs of failure mentioned in other reviews. It would show “Lo” instead of the actual temp, and when it actually showed a number, was not accurate when checked against other thermometers. I didn’t expect this to last forever, but I did expect it to last longer than the batteries it came with.
Works as advertised and works well until the probe stops working. The package says you can close the oven door on the probe wire, but after doing that tens of times the probe insulation eventually melts. Good for the price, I've bought two and one lasted two months and the other a year (and I cook very frequently); but for my next one I'll be trying something more expensive. I would recommend this if you just want something cheap or are not convinced an instant-read thermometer will be helpful to you. When it breaks you can buy a nicer one.
