I love the feel of this putter. I have an incredibly accurate line and to my surprise (after 20 years with a blade) I feel a incredible sense of control.That said, I generally keep my putter covered until I put. The problem is, this head cover literally falls off at least once or twice a round. I started uncovering at my cart. After just two months, I noticed the paint rubbing off and huge gauge...likely from my wedge. I've never dropped it, banged it on the ground. So while this putter delivers great feel, the soft metal can be very delicate.

I have had two of the previous Spider versions & loved them both.I received this new putter 48 hours before a golf trip with 6 rounds. I played a practice round the day before my trip & decided to leave my old Spider at home.I was so glad I did! Putted lights out from everywhere! Super feel & balance! Love how easy this new version is to line up.My only complaint is the Taylor Made Super Stroke grip is very shiny & slippery compared to a normal Super Stroke.I loved it so much ordered my daughter the woman’s version.

The Spider GT is really balanced and predictable.But what impressed me the most is the improvement in speed control.The Spider GT is easy to look at and sits nicely at address. (Smaller foot print than expected when you actually try one out)I was happy with my old putter with an excellent feeling Winn 15" grip that is very comfortable.The Spider stock grip is ok and I'm getting adjusted to it.Overall the Spider GT is much better than the Heavy putter I was using even while I'm adjusting to the new grip.So I expect my performance to improve even further.Bottom line: Bye Bye 3 putts, and 2 putts are on notice.

I just purchased a Spider GT Max last week. I rolled a few putts on the putting green and it is great so far.The new face insert feels better than the older Spider X. I need to experiment with the movable weights in the future but I am very excited.We only use the driver 14 times per round but we use putter more than a half of our score. I applaud TM for making the world’s first movable weight putter.I share a similar view about the black stepped putter shaft. The KBS CT Tour shaft looks and feels better.

The 30 degree toe hang seems just perfect for my slight arc stroke - I was pushing my blade-style putter every so often, and this one seems to be almost magically on-line and requires very little thought on the stroke. The Superstroke Pistol 1.0 grip works really nicely as well. The Notchback also looks clean and reasonably traditional at address which is important to me. Lastly, the magnetic closure on the headcover is a huge improvement over Velcro closures. All in all, it gives the impression of a high-quality, well-engineered, well-constructed mid-mallet. Nothing against Titleist; as I admit I bought things based on brand name vs getting truly fitted for a putter. Well?, This putter is the real deal and worth every penny (perhaps more). What drew me to this was a number of aspects/features. First, as I am a straight back and thru w/ my putting stroke (thanks Dave Pelz), and the single bend hosel is the way to go vs a "plumbers neck: which has more toe-hang depending on the putter. This neck has "0" toe-hang which promotes a straight back and thru stroke better. Secondly, as I have owned blade putters in the past, over time I just liked a mallet putters better. This putter absolutely "frames" the ball better than other mallets putters I've owned ( Calloway "tuttel" & Cameron "Red X") With regards to alignment the design, lines and black inserts on top is just a great confidence builder to get the putt rolling on one's aim-line. My lag putting has never been better. As far as the insert, it really does get the ball rolling over without initial skidding/backspin. Weight wise, this putter has a great feel whereas it's not too light nor heavy, the head just simply flows through the stroke. Obviously what type of ball one plays effects the feel. I play a Chromes Soft and the feel is great!; not a thus or a click, but a gentle sense of minimal compression to get the ball on line. It feels great to me. As far as the Super Stroke grip, its definitely a change as compared to a Winn Grip Mid-Size pistol grip. The Grip included is call "mid-size" but it is 'bigger"; and it's not a bad thing. Being new to me, I can say it keeps my hands more quiet; in the end I'll get used to it and not as a bad compromise rather, it will assist my stroke. Its just a matter of learning more about the benefits of this grip. I can always change it I guess (LOL) Time will tell. For now the grip feels great, though I wish it was a little more "tackier". All this said, as far as aesthetics & looks this putter is gorgeously made and well designed. The craftsmanship is spot on and would expect no less from TaylorMade. With Regards to TaylorMade, I'm pleased I went through them vs TGW, Dicks or Others as in terms of price, TM was competitive and priced matched. For the cost this putter is a great investment...again, with any putter its key to get fitted per your stroke and preference. As well, TaylorMade's customer service was top shelf! However for what I outlined and have written above and if this is something that you've been exploring in your game; I would recommend investigating this putter and a club in your bag. Loving the putter setup, getting use to it still as this is my first mallet putter. Use to blade style as my blade is also a center shaft setup. One thing I ABSOLUETLY HATE is the grip on this putter. Wish there was options to select different grips. Wish that this was a customizable putter in general. Many options I would have done, especially with different colors as I was really wanting before having to purchase just this one in black. Make this customizable so i can send this one back and build my own my way.
I buy one to two putters a year almost every year and I have probably 30 putters in my house.I liked the look at this and I bought this at a PGA tour superstore about three months ago.I have putted it so well that it’s almost blasphemous for me to consider using are getting a different putter.A friend of mine who knows how often I change putters during the year it might’ve been once a week I brought out a different putter, Said he would punch me in the face if I ever used a different putter.He was joking he wouldn’t do that but that’s the point of the story it’s an amazing putter I want to huge tournaments at the end of the year based on putting. I don’t normally do reviews but from a guy that’s had 30 putters in the last 20 years this is a keeper.
I tried a friends on a putting green and from the moment I looked down at it I knew this one was going to be pure. The putters sets up behind the ball better then anything I’ve seen. I have a lot of putters as well and I really like the way the alignment rolls right to the edge. The face has a premium feel that creates pure roll on the ball. Put it in the bag and won my first match play event! I truly think it was this putter that won me the match! Get one before they stop making it. Got mine in a 35” and I usually play a 34”. It’s lighter then others so the length helps.
Wasn't looking for a new putter. Took a few looks at the New Spider GT Red/Black. Putted with it at Golf Galaxy a few times. Decided to order a custom at 33 inch short slant (toe hung) 1 degree flat like my Scotty Square Back 2.0. Rolls just as nice as my Scotty but with a little more forgiveness. Very true lines also consistant feel and distances. Now I have 2 great putters. The only problem I encountered was the grip. I paid for the grip upgrade and it wasn't a 2.0 size. Was not installed straight. Had to spend another $30 to replace the grip for correct size and installed straight. Other than that putter is great.
