TCL 65" C835 Mini LED 4K Google TV

I was sceptical buying a TCL TV but bit the bullet. To my surprise, the image on this TV is super clear. The colours so vibrant, the black, super dark. The sound is amazing. Has a built in woofer on the back. Only down side is the down firing speakers. Not great for wall mount tvs. I made a bezel to deflect the sound forward. Other than that, it's a super TV.

This TV forces you to create a TCL account during setup to use the TV - I would not have purchased this TV if I knew this was the case. I phoned support to complain, and they gave me a special code to bypass it- still disappointed with this tactic for extracting personal data. Next stop was to watch some F1 on Kayo - this is simply an awful experience - in all picture modes except 'game' the static leader board text on the left-hand side contains jittery artifacts when next to fast motion - and ironically this effect is particularly bad in when in 'sport' picture mode! When in 'game' mode the text doesn't tare, however the motion jitter is just too hard to watch. With some adjustment of the ‘motion' settings I could reduce this issue but not eliminate it. My 10-year-old LG 4K TV with a Google TV plugged in the back is much better than this TCL to watch F1. All that said, the picture for other content is good, and the in-built speakers aren't terrible. Also be aware that the highly reflective screen is not great for brightly lit areas.

The TCL is excellent in all but a couple of aspects. Connection to servers on the same network is dodgy as is the Airplay option for connecting to Apple devices and for screen mirroring. Sometimes they work and sometimes they dont.A nice feature of the TV is the inclusion of a 3.5 mm socket for headphone attachment. Initially I thought that it was either headphones or speakers requiring you to pull the headphone plug out if you want to listen to the TV directly. After some fiddling I realised that when headphones are attached you can control internal speaker and headphone volumes independently.Sound quality is excellent. Picture quality, on the other hand, suffers somewhat from over minimisation of noise resulting in images that at times appear smeared.
