Awesome TV at a good price

I bought this two weeks ago on Black Friday to replace a 100 inch screen/projector in a dedicated home theatre. Very happy with the brightness, sharpness and features. Picture quality comparable with a 65 inch Sony in an adjacent lounge room but soooo much bigger! The newer version Android TV operating system is also now much better to use, and has apps for all streaming services, not limited by proprietary restrictions found on some brands. The system is regularly updated by Google.I used optical cable to connect to an existing 6.1 surround sound system and it works faultlessly but multiple HDMI ports available. The system is regularly updated by Google.I used optical cable to connect to an existing 6.1 surround sound system and it works faultlessly but multiple HDMI ports available. I installed a USB extension cable and when plugging in a 128GB thumb drive there are no problems reading the directory and playing movies in .mkv or mp4 format using the intrinsic media player. Also reads directories and plays files on a home network. I used ethernet connection but the WiFi is also easy to setup and fine. The menu settings provide a variety of combinations of dynamic picture suitable for movies, games, sports or general viewing. I have turned down the brightness as it is so sharp and bright in a dim theatre. I find the 4K picture quality very good, especially panoramic views in movies like deserts, forests and snow are crisp and clear but realistic in tones.Whilst this TV comes with feet, at 100kg it is probably preferable to wall mount for safety. Once done however, it is difficult to access cables behind so prewire spares into most TV sockets and run down inside the wall before mounting! It is a shame there is no image available of the connection configuration. Power is back left and all the connectors are back right. TV is thicker in the back lower third so bracket mounting is assymetrical and more on the lower half. We used a Sanus VXT7-B2 tilting mount suitable for 136kg panels. (Not in stock at HN so bought separately). This TCL TV model comes with a standard large remote and an extra compact one with voice control. Very intuitive and easy to use.The sales consultant Jesse Kosseh at City West was very helpful in doing a deal, solving issues to ensure customer satisfaction of this expensive purchase. Unfortunately installation by the tech2 mob they recommended was really rough, even with three guys, they gouged the wall lifting it - but the TV survived delivery and wall hanging. As a relatively new product, I was hesitant to purchase, but have not encountered any problems in set-up, connection to an older but substantial sound system, or other devices. (Just get all your cables and connections worked out in advance.) The manual is simplistic - because it just works - and the menu intuitive. If you love your movies or streaming and have a room big enough, this is a very high quality TV at an affordable price (compared with what Sony or Samsung may be if and when they have a similar sized panel). Go on, you deserve it. :)

This is another "Great TV for the price" review. We have never previously owned a TCL and the specs of this TV looked great for the price, so we jumped in. We haven't been able to test the quality in 4K/Ultra HD.Here's the 'but........' The picture clarity, in anything less than 1080 (mostly from broadcast tv) is mediocre. It's seem the actual panel is very good but this TV's ability to upscale anything sub-1080 is lacking, which is a little disappointing. We bought this TV a couple of weeks ago and have been thoroughly happy so far. Being Android platform its super easy to set up and connect to the TV's Apps via your phone. Wifi connection is fast enough and the Google Assistant speech-activated searching and function selections are on point and add incredible value for money at this price point. Navigation is easy and all the streaming Apps are right at your fingertips. Speakers are good for its price. Sound enhancement options are good also. We also run this through our soundbar and sub woofer via the Optical cord for movies. The sound this creates, plus the genuinely excellent picture quality, make for a really good movie experience. Highly recommend this product if you're looking for a lower-to-lower-mid price ... MoreWe bought this TV a couple of weeks ago and have been thoroughly happy so far. Good TV ,But requires Optimization

Good TV for the Price Range, have been using it for past 6 months and honestly is gr8.I owned an iFFALCON K2A and this TV is better on every frontThough some things to keep in mind are:-1 The GOOGLE ASSISTANT FEATURE IS NOT REFINED OR UPTO THE MARK 2 Video quality over HDMI is far superior than on Android TV3 Out of the box colour accuracy is not great but after calibration it works gr84 The AI UPSCALING Is so good,it is awesome ,on my other 4k TV,720p or 1080 p videos look garbage but on this it looks awesome5 Although I use a soundbar but the loudness and treble is good in the price range although the same can't be said for the bassTL;DR If Budget is a concern then buy it or else go for the LG Gallery GX77 inch OLED

Good features, but too slow to make them useable
22 July 2021

Perhaps not enough memory and the processor is too slow. You can wait more than 10 seconds for netflix to start after watching youtube. I now use a chromecast with googletv so I have a useable androidtv experience.Picture is OK, but certainly not on par with cheap sony, lg, samsung tv's etc. Specs do not always equate to perceived quality and this is certainly the case here. This is really only good as a second TV not used too much where the poor performance is bearable.

Good so far..... but
27 January 2021

I have purchased three of these as guest TV's in a motel environment.the light weight makes them good for wall mounting and the picture quality was good without being great. In light of other reviews we shall see how this works out over time. The Android TV side of this is good although the reliance on an individual profile limits its use to some extent. The main shortfall I find is that there is no app for ABC iview, SBS ON DEMAND and a couple of the free to air commercial channels, and it doesn't have the option to download them.I saw some references from some users to download apk's but that should not be necessary for a commercial product.

Pretty great!

Neither the latest nor greatest, but for someone who isn’t a die-hard cinephile this TV is awesome, especially for the price! The settings took some tweaking, but Netflix, Amazon Prime etc content looks great, and the few 4K things I’ve watched have been incredible! The Android OS is responsive and easy to use. I added a sound bar, as usual the small inbuilt speakers are barely sufficient - a common problem across all brands. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a budget option that still packs a punch.

I'd never purchased anything from TCL before, so was worried a bit about quality. To say I was surprised with the build and quality would be an understatement.I primarily use it for Xbox and Streaming, and it almost never misses a beat. Whilst it doesn't support 120hz or VRR, I wasn't expecting it to for the price I paid. The HDR contrast is great also, with the TV remembering that I like higher contrast on each different HDMI port.It came with two remotes also, but neither supported voice controls (if that's what you're after), with one being larger, with more buttons, and both featuring a deddicated Netflix button.I got the 50 inch model, and was lucky I didn't get the larger one. I hadn't taken into consideration that the feet/stand are spread so far apart, and the Tallboy I have my TV on is barely wide enough to support them. Make sure you measure your stand first! The only issues I've encountered, is that the TV has needed a hard reset occasionally. Maybe after a firmware update.Overall though, great TV for the price, and easily the best TV I've owned.
