This just arrived today so I have not been able to play with it much but from the small amount of time I put into it, I dig it!A note: the tips for the knobs and fader slider do not come installed. you have to slide them on yourself. The knob tips slide on easily. The fader tip is tight to slide on. If you are not careful, you will break the fader slider installing the tip. Good luck!

Buy at your own risk. Broken fader on my unit as well. I'm convinced it is the minimal packaging for this unit from TE. You can see on the inside of the packaging where the uncapped knobs and faders have been rubbing on the box. Obviously stacked units are stressing the solders. Disappointed and returning for refund.

The fader arrived broken. This is solely on Teenage Engineering and their flimsy product packaging and quality control. It seems like others are having the exact same issue. I’m hoping the next batch from TE addresses this. Also, B&H packed the box well so this was not their fault.

Just do yourself a favor and don’t but this product or from B&H. Worst customer service (I feel like I’m talking to a bot) and damaged products. I also had an item with a damaged fader and volume but B&H is unwilling to help and be flexible with replacing it!!!
The unit is actually pretty dang cool except for one MAJOR issue…fader doa before any caps were even placed on. Too bad because otherwise it would have been cool. This is shameful on teenage engineering’s end. Extremely disappointed. It’s getting hard to keep supporting TE.
This sampler is fun, but ultimately I find the lean 12-voice polyphony limit to be quite limiting in terms of sonic exploration. I tend to like to add drone sounds and pads and arpeggios to my recordings. These tend to eat up the polyphony limit rather quickly. It’s hard to get dynamic compositions when you’re so limited. Sometimes limitations are a good thing but in this case it seriously holds me back.Sampling could not be easier if you don’t mind deleting old samples every other week due to the extremely limited 64MB storage-most of which is eaten up by the preloaded samples. If you get a unit that works, congratulations. You’re in for some fun. Ultimately though, this is a $300 toy which gets one more familiar with sampling and beat making. If you’re looking for something somewhat affordable but much more powerful and robust I’d save up and get TE’s op-z synthesizer.
I received the unit very fast (thanks, B&H photo!!)but I open up the box, plug in a usbc cable, flick on the power switch and the unit does not turn on!!! Either the unit has a broken usbc port or broken power switch. This is my very first teenage engineering product I’ve ever ordered and this leave a very bad taste in my mouth. I’ve been considering the Teenage Engineering OP1 Field synth but now I’m not so sure…
This is the most fun and intuitive beat/sampler box I've ever tried. Able to make something awesome sounding and fun in minutes. Don't listen to all the hate. It is unfortunate some people got some broken faders, but aside from that (which TE will remedy) this is a FANTASTIC PRODUCT. I've tried akai mpc's and other units all to find them much too complex. This hits the sweet spot. Especially as a musician myself it's great being able to instantly sample in real instruments and jam instantly without the great hinderance of complexity.
Absolutely disappointed at the unresponsive fader right from the beginning without even installing the knob. Can't understand a widespread problem during a company rollout. I understand it's a great price but this issue must be fixed. Do not buy until they sort out these defective units.
retro/futuristic sampling goodness. I love how they pay homage to the old school Nintendo and Mike Tyson's punch out. Zero issues with my unit.
