Comfortable shoes

I bought these sandals for hiking with my dog in warm weather. We spend a lot of time in and out of creeks and waterways on our hikes so I wanted a sandal that could handle being in and out of the water and walking through the woods and this is it! These sandals stay on my feet well with the three adjustable straps and are still comfortable even after getting wet. Overall these are great sandals for day-long hiking - I did expect the traction to be slightly better given the tread on the soles but no worse than any other shoe on a slippery/muddy surface. I only noticed slight discomfort (breaking in) on one of my pinky toes to first few times of wearing these sandals but after getting the straps adjusted to my feet, I have no complaints! Original TEVAs don't last for me - I compress the foot foam in a year and then they give me shin pain. So rather than replacing them each summer, I decided to try these Hurricane XLT2s with the molded sole. This sole is more substantial and will likely last years. it is surprisingly cushy. Here's the reservation: Right where the ball of my (and likely your) foot sits on the sole it feels as if there is a bump (ridge) spanning the width of the sole. It's a very odd sensation and if you run your hand on the sole, you can't feel anything, but it's definitely there. Must be something in the inside construction or tread of the sole. Anyway, I didn't think I could get used to it, but I wore it in the house non-stop for a week and finally got used to it...after a few days ... MoreOriginal TEVAs don't last for me - I compress the foot foam in a year and then they give me shin pain. I would say that my feet still feel a bit "tired" at the end of the day because of that hump, but I'm continuing to hope that they get used to it. Would I buy them again? I might try the LL Bean version first...if they didn't have that hump, they'd be a five star review.

I love the fact there are 2 additional adjustable straps: one over the toes and the other around the heel. For me, it makes it comfortable on my little toe if I am wearing socks that day. The footbed is also comfortable. I still have the leather TEVA sandals I bought 24 years ago, as well as another pair 14 years ago... the first pair I wore constantly and have had them resoled twice, and had a strap glued once. The other pair are still in good condition. Unfortunately, my last toes on each foot have changed causing the leather sandals to hurt. I looked at other brands, however, didn't buy. So what a nice surprise to still be able to get a new pair from the company I do trust. Thank you, TEVA.

Love my Tevas
16 July 2023

I had an old design of Tevas that are no longer being made that fit me perfectly, but did not have all the adjustments that their typical designs have. So, I understand why they discontinued them, as not everyone has feet shaped like mine. I was disappointed, but those older ones were finally wearing out. The new Hurricane XLT2 sandals are a great option. I love the comfort and support of the foot bed. These walk well on all types of terrain. Great support and grip on rocky river beds while wet wading. And they are good looking for wearing around town as well. I'm confident that these will also last me years of wear, but will happily buy them again when/if I need a new pair!

On my second pair!
22 August 2022

I love these shoes! My last pair had been superglued more than once so it was time to upgrade. Thankfully I took advantage of Teva's Terracycle program so I mailed them in to get recycled instead of tossing them in the trash. The first day, I had some rubbing where the plastic triangle is near the top of my foot by my toes but it quickly went away after the fabric began to soften up from wear. The size is just right, I almost downsized but am really glad I didn't! My old pair was larger than this pair, so keep that in mind if you're replacing some that are 5+ years old. They dry fast, are super comfortable, and are great for all adventures where water is involved! I also wear mine around town because they feel so good and are really cute. So far I'm wowed

I am between sizes and I ordered down. I usually wear W11's and I was SO pleased to find a style and pattern that I actually LOVED. With large feet, I usually find first what is the best option available in my size, and not the actual style I wanted or color for that matter...so a big thank you to Teva first off, for including larger sizes in attractive styles and patterns. I bought these sandals for all day every day sandals. I don't generally love wearing shoes, so in summer, I'm always only wearing sandals or going barefoot. I walk a lot, I swim a lot and sometimes those adventures intersect. This past weekend we walked through the woods and swam in a lake for most of the day. I have found they are not especially fast-drying, as was claimed, but it's definitely not a deal breaker. I hope these shoes last forever. I absolutely love them.

Straps are kind of rough
12 June 2023

I bought these for the first time for a 2 1/2 week trip to Thailand, where it was very hot and humid. I even paid the extra $20 for rush shipping to get them in time. They were great the first week as they didn't need much breaking in, but eventually the straps started to feel uncomfortable as the texture of the strap is very utilitarian. You would think it would be a good thing to hold up to the elements, but after constant sun and sweat, the straps kept rubbing my feet wrong. I got blisters on my big toes from where the front strap sits. I tried to adjust the fit multiple times on all the straps: as tight as possible or looser to see if it would help with the blisters. The straps were just too rough. I also eventually got a blister on the bottom of my foot where ... MoreI bought these for the first time for a 2 1/2 week trip to Thailand, where it was very hot and humid. Walking in wet Tevas only made it worse, but thankfully they dried within the hour in the humidity. All in all, great for a day trip, not good at all for nearly three weeks of constant wear in the outdoors. So not sure how well they really hold up in terms of comfort. First purchase of Tevas and my last.

Teva Hurricane Comparison - new ones are not an upgrade
18 June 2023

I've had the hurricane sandal for 15-20 years and loved them. The sole is separating from the sandal so I wanted to purchase new ones. The new ones are no comparison and are not an upgrade or better sandal. I wish this site would accept photos so you can see the staggering difference. My old hurricane sandals have a grippy rubber sole showing many small rubber bumps and softer comfortable contoured foot bed. The new ones have a hard plastic feeling sole that's more of a geometric design and is slippery on my hardwood floors and not at all grippy or non-slide and the foot bed is flat harder plastic, not contoured and not as comfortable. WEARING SINCE FIRST INTRODUCED IN 1980s
28 March 2023

The Hurricane XLT was THE most comfortable shoe when they were first introduced and still are 40 years later. I love the periodic introduction of new patterns, color combinations, and collaborations. At present I own 7 pairs and over the years have worn out a few more.Since foot surgery in 2009, I've tried many of your other shoes, but none feels as good as the Hurricane XLT.I have one request. Please, please, please, Teva, can you build other shoes on the same shoe last (the solid form around which a shoe is molded) and specify this in the description. For instance, I would happily buy several pairs of something similar to the Outflow Universal if it were built on the same last as the Hurricane XLT.I thank you, and my feet thank you!
