I wear this sandal throughout the summer and found ît to be especially good when I'm PaddleBoarding. These sandals allow me to easily walk over small jagged rocks and shells in the launch area with stability and protection. The sure-footed nature of the sandals makes carrying my board over rough terrain a non-issue.The sandal is high quality and very well made. I replaced an old pair of Teva sandals and the new ones are so much better constructed. One small criticism is that the sandals take long to dry after they get immersed in water. That being said I would buy these again in a heartbeat. Yup, there that good!

I bought these water sandals for our trip to Costa Rica with the idea they would handle all the terrain I would encounter. They were comfortable on the airplane and the hike around the airport. Once we arrived at the beach resort I tested them on gravel and in sand which they did good. Getting sand trapped between the feet and soles is annoying but it rinses out easily. I then decided to go up the next level with a hike in a river to get to a waterfall. This is where it started to go bad. On dry boulders the sandals perform well. Wet boulders and you are gambling with your life. Wet mossy covered rock and you will slip almost every step. At this point I should have quit while I was ahead. I decided to give them another shot at testing their traction limits. I went ... Not so well on the wet spots. My warning to anyone considering buying these is you just want sporty looking sandals go ahead and buy them. If you actually plan on wearing them for a wet rocky excursion “tread carefully”. I wish I could return them but I don’t think you can once you wear them.

I love everything about this sandal except the lip that goes up in the back. I wore these for a day hiking. Several times a piece of debris got into my sandal, under my foot. With an ordinary sandal, you can tip your toe in air and knock heel on ground and debris will exit, but not with these due to the heel lip. I had to instead lean on someone and take the sandal off. This was a dealbreaker. Please get rid of that heal lip. Or have a model same as this without it. The lip on the Hurricane XLT2 is fine but I want an extreme hiker and I want the protection strips under all three straps like this model has.

After using and absolutely loving my hurricane xlt2s I was ready to upgrade to what I thought was the top of the line Teva. Build construction is top notch and the extra padding is nice but these are giving me weird blisters on the insides of my foot just below the ankle. I've tried adjusting them a few different ways but wearing these for longer periods of time creates these blisters. Bummer because my xlt2s never had that issue. My xlt2s would rub on the front strap and I was looking forward to the extra padding there on these. That issue is gone but this new issue remains.
The Fi 5 is my "go-to" sandal, I've been wearing them for years! I don't say this lightly; I wear sandals "exclusively" on a year-round basis. I don't wear shoes anymore because some of my toes rub against the inside top of my shoe, and it's darn uncomfortable. Sandals solve this problem for me and I find the Teva Fi 5 to be very comfortable! Would I buy them again? Yup, I sure would. In fact, this purchase, as well as all my previous purchases (aside from my initial purchase), were "buy again" purchases. If they keep making them, I'll keep buying them. Period.
These were the best saddles I had, but they didn't even last me a year. I live in Texas, where it's hot enough time wear saddles 90% of the time. I also work as a lifeguard, and saddles are practically a requirement. These did the job, but after a few seasons of wearing them, they just fell apart. The soul area of the shoe started pealing off from where the straps connect. The bottom of the shoe has so many holes in it. I was unable to wear them before the year was up. I love the shoe, but I need something more durable. Something I won't have to buy every summer.
I bought 2 pair of these sandals after I could no longer wear my 2 pair of Toachi 2 sandals because they had worn so badly they hurt my feet, ankles, and knees. Though better than other alternative sandals, I have 3 issues with the Terra Fi 5 Universal sandals:1. When I bought these they were (and still are?) available in only whole sizes. I wear an 11.5. An 11 is too small, the 12 is too large.2. The footbed of these sandals is slippery when wet. Not a good thing when you are on a river trip. And not a good thing when the sizing is not a good fit (see above). The Toachi 2 sandal always provided solid and secure footbed.3. Most important, the absence of a buckle closure for a river sandal is a big problem. Velcro is great if you are in a clean environment. It ... It becomes problematic if you are on a river trip with sand, gravel, and other debris to clog the velcro closure,Would I buy these sandals again? Only if I had to. I found no better option to replace my Toachi 2 sandals but I am not happy about the downgrade. Bring back the buckle closure and half-size options.
First off, let me say that I love the quality of the sandals. They are beautifully made and the straps adjusted well. The arch support worked well for me, and it felt good doing standing tasks. That said, the sandals were quite large, and I kept stepping on the toe and heel of the opposite one when turning. I also have a hip issue, and the inner soles have a LOT of give, and this did not work for me. When the shoe landed, the cushy material on the inside sole made it feel like the ground was unsteady, and this was a deal - breaker. If you have a hip issue, these might not be the shoe for you. Reluctantly, I finally have stopped trying to make them work and am returning them. To replace them I have purchased a pair of Mens' Monhegan Sandals through this site, which ... I've been wearing Teva's since the 90's and they always get heavy, constant use. They don't seem to aggravate some foot problems I have, like a dropped metatarsal head. The last couple of times I bought the Hurricanes and ended up regluing the soles a number of times after 2-3 years. The Universals seemed a bit heavier, so I went with them this time around. I tried out another well-made sandal, Chaco, but I wasn't crazy about the strap system and the higher arch was ultimately uncomfortable to walk on for my feet. I'm a 10-1/2, and Teva has no halves, so I usually go to a 10. The straps are very adjustable, allowing you to move your foot up or down on the footbed for comfort. This time, however, I went for the 11s which gives more space around my foot and still ... MoreI've been wearing Teva's since the 90's and they always get heavy, constant use. Only time will tell if I should have given them 5 stars instead of 4, or if I should have stuck with the 10s, but the purpose of living is to be able to review how things work.
I bought these for a summer trip I just got back from last night that included Canada- Vancouver, Sunshine Coast, almost all of Southern Iceland, Croatia- Spilt, Krka & Plitvice National Parks, Dubrovnik, & Italy- Rome, and Amalfi Coast.I was split between buying these and the vibra sole Universals and am quite pleased with my decision. The grip, the comfort, and the looks is what caught me with the Terra 5s overall.there was quite a lot of diversity of use and the climates varied immensely and these did the trick for each one- normal walks through HOT HOT ROME to let the dogs hang out to rainy windy trails up to the tops of waterfalls in Iceland. In all cases, they were secure and served their purpose beater than intended. Only brought 2 pairs of shoes and the ...
