I grew up with the Egg, my dad's egg looks like the day he took it out of the box, even though it is about 17 years old. I love to grill, and I love the flavor of charcoal/wood verses gas grills, however, if you're looking for speed, then gas will likely be better for you, the egg is more of a lifestyle choice and an all day event. However, the more you use the Egg, the faster, more accurate, and better you will become, so don't be dismayed if it is a bit of a learning curve right off the bat, I have 17 years logged into using the Egg, but it's time for one of my own on my own property. It is expensive for what it is, but as I have said, you pay for quality and a grill that will last over decades provided you take simple steps to make sure it is safe.My dad picked ... I would also like to thank ACE for a seamless transaction and excellent customer service. My dad is typically one to hate ALL shopping experiences, so when he told me the service as the Newtown ACE was outstanding, I thought he was being joking because this is out of character for him to provide a business with a compliment. But he provided examples that he didn't have to lift a finger to get the grill in the car, everything was loaded for him, and the grill was ready for pickup the moment he arrived, everyone was friendly and helpful beyond a million miles what you would expect from a retailer, so much so, he said he will no longer go to his local ACE, he will go out of his way from here-on-out to come to the Newtown ACE because he thinks that highly of your service, which is an incredible statement coming from my dad. So, thank you to everyone who provided him with an experience that even shocked him. Great teamwork, communication, and customer service, I thank you all so much for everything.Zack

Super awesome. Thought i was buying a large. Unless you plan on doing massive briskets or turkeys. I've over done it.

I've used the XL Egg for three years and it really enjoy how easy it is to cook, sear, smoke, bake.Previously, I've had very little experience cooking outside of the kitchen. The guys at Galore's Studio City location showed me how to use the Egg and that was so helpful for a novice. It took a few tries to get used to setting temperature but once it 'clicked' I haven't had any issues with lighting or temp control. The XL size is great for a party of 12-15 people (usually 3 ribs, 2 tri tips, veggies (all at the same time)). I also purchased the 5 Piece Eggspander Kit with two Half Moon Conveggtors. This easily lets me go from low and slow to searing with direct heat. There's too much to say about what the Egg can do so enjoy that rabbit hole!

I love my egg and that's why I made the decision to purchase one but the build quality has been / is shocking ( I purchased it built ). It looks 5 years old as all the silicone has gone yellow and crumbled. I complained and was told no one would come out and fix it and I would have to replace all the silicone myself. Not sure why I would have to do this as that's why I paid the extra to get it made properly. Very bad customer service IMO.
These are the best. Food taste much better cooked on these. Use lump coal (not briquettes.) As long as you don't drop it they last forever. Takes more work than gas but the flavors are amazing. Great for baking too.
Love my big green egg! Easy to use and the food tastes fantastic! But when HOM puts it together be careful. I had one where there lid fell off and another where the nest fell apart.
I love this product and especially its versatility. With all the right accessories it can easily be your outside oven and stove top! Especially with kids and their friends, the eggs-pander and pizza stones to make 2 wood-fired pizzas at once is great! The wok is super cool and fun to use. I've already smoked 2 brisket and 2 Pastrami on it using the diffuser and water/drip pans, and they came out great! All in the first 2 months. Looking forward to smoking ribs next and multiple briskets.Be aware, that I spent just as much on all the accessories, as I did on the Big Green Egg itself. Though mind you, I'd rather spend the extra money for quality over quantity any day. Just seemed like a few things should automatically come with the egg. And granted I do really like ... And granted I do really like the versatility of the egg.My only upset is that I was sold the floor model without knowing I was sold the floor model. The Employee assured me they wouldn't sell me the floor model, but wouldn't you know, I go back to the store literally the Day after the egg was delivered to my house. And sure enough the XL they had on display was gone. I thought, hmm, now I get why there were scratches on the bottom front of my egg, from being in the nesting table on display and people repeatedly opening and closing it. I didn't pay full price to receive the floor model that thousands of people have opened and closed and handled for months in that store. Seems pretty crummy to me. And a month later now there's a Large on display! Beware purchaser of a Large size from Ellicott city Ace! Just a big disappointment with this ACE Hardware. If I'm being sold the floor model I should've been told that and at the least been given a huge discount. But I didn't want to buy a used Egg, I purchased a new Big Green Egg. Please don't tell me you don't sell the floor model, when sure enough you did and it's now on my back deck. Love the Egg, and really really disappointed with Ace. Ace used to be great and trustful, not anymore.
Just an amazing grill. I have other grills and smokers, I find myself using this one most of the time. I've made chicken so good my wife almost slapped me. Not too mention this is the ultimate sear tool. I will suggest you have help when unboxing and assembling as this is really heavy. I do wish BGE accessories were a bit less expensive. But I guess you pay for quality.
I started out with a small acorn grill, then built an ugly drum smoker but I knew I wanted a durable, well built grill. I was down to a Kamado Joe and the XL BGE. The Kamado Joe was about $900 more but it came with a lot more features. I decided to go with the BGE and chose to buy the accessories as I went along. Fire management is pretty easy for me, but I came from a few other smokers that I had to watch constantly. This once dialed in, will hold steady for a long time. Get a premium charcoal like FOGO as well and it will make your life easier. So far I've cooked brisket, spare and baby back ribs and just did a smoked meatloaf. All came out excellent. You will need an ash tool to get the ash from the bottom of the egg, but don't necessarily need the pan, you can ... You will need an ash tool to get the ash from the bottom of the egg, but don't necessarily need the pan, you can get by with a dust pan. The grill tool is a nice accessory when you need to add some oak to the fire. I recommend getting the basics and then adding what you need that fits your grilling style. I also built my table to save money. Definitely worth it if you like to smoke, grill and entertain for a dozen or so people.
Cooked for the first time and the food was delicious. Made chicken wings, chicken breasts, and shrimp. Cannot wait for it to be seasoned.
