I have a monthly game night at my house and someone brought this a few months ago. It was so fun that I had to buy it for myself. I’m so glad I did, but now I have to battle the urge to only play Chameleon instead of the plethora of other games I have as well lol. The struggle is real, but this game is fun. Buy it! Oh… I guess I should add that it requires a little thought, so it’s not hard to play but it may be challenging for younger players. We mostly have adults, but we do have a 9 year-old and a 13 year-old that often come. The teen is fine on his own, but the 9 year-old usually partners with his mom or my husband. We also play this with teams of 2 if we have a lot of people.

This is a great game to play with 7 players. Any more than 7 players, then maybe have couples/close friends/siblings be on teams. It is very fun to play, and it's easy to understand once you spend 5 or so minutes reading/explaining the game. CONS: - There are topic cards, which EVERYONE playing the game is supposed to see at all times, is VERY small. If you keep it at the center of the table, not everyone can read it. Especially if the card is not facing your direction. (larger word size would be easier to do this) We ended up just passing the topic card in order of how we were sitting, because we cant see the words!! Way too small, and we all are in our 20s and have "good" eyesight. (We will be projecting the topic card onto the TV next time). HOUSE RULES: We made our own house rule to make the game more challenging. You wont understand this until you read the instructions, so come back after that. Mostly same rules as usual. Except, one player gets a card from the OPPOSITE team color. You would want everyone to keep their cards on their lap, and hidden. So, if everyone was giving a GREEN card, have one player get a BLUE card (or vice versa). The cordinates on their card is different than the GREEN. This makes it so that way there is a FAKE Chameleon in the game. It allows the real Chameleon to blend in more, or even throw them off. It also makes it harder to know if we're voting the real Chameleon out, or a friendly ally who may have the wrong cordinates. During voting, we dont end the game if we voted an innocent person out. That person is KNOCKED OUT of the game, then the dice is re-rolled for a new noun, and the game continues. The game will continue until The Chameleon is voted out (and doesnt guess the right topic when voted out), or there is only one innocent person left (1v1, then The Chameleon wins)
This is a cool fun game. It’s the kind of game you want to play at family gatherings and/or with friends. It keeps everyone involved and interested in discovering who is the chameleon. It’s for 6-8 players ages 14 and over. Although, my very advanced 9 year old was actually very good at playing this game. We had a great time playing and picking up on clues and hints on who could be the chameleon. I appreciate the instructions being easy to read and understand. They are very clear simple instructions but in case you need a visual they also provide a link to watch online on how to play the game. We really enjoyed this game as a family. It’s easy to learn and join in the fun! Really something anyone can pick up within a couple minutes. I would say it’s probably for people 10 and older just because of the topics and understanding, maybe a little younger if you have a good reader. It’s not a long drawn out critical thinking type of game, but more light, and easy to add and drop people. This game seems to be best played with 6-8 people, too few and it will become obvious who the chameleon is, too many and it becomes easy for the chameleon to blend in. My only complaint is there feels like no obvious scoring or ending to game.
Bought this after watching The Traitor.Similar??One person lies.They don't have all the facts.Individually you have to work out who in the room is the liar.The whole room then hears everyone's ideas.Tense. Exciting. Laugh out loud.One of our new favourite games.

The categories are broad and varied. Some categories were harder for some people, like bands for those not familiar with modern bands, or sports. But there are many topics so you can find plenty to choose from. And even more important there is a blank card where you can fill in your own topics! There are 2 sets of "play" cards, so people will have a hard time memorizing the dice combination to reveal the chosen word. This I think is a good idea. For comparison, this game is very similar to the game Spyfall, except with pictures of places, you have a word. The Chameleon is a great game, I HIGHLY recommend it, but I also recommend laminating or sleeving the play cards.
