it was actually nicely packaged, both books were covered in tight plastic wrap. though the overall condition of the book isn't that great (small dents and such) the quality is still great especially for the price. but if you are looking for books in mint condition with no dents or folds whatsoever, then you won't be very satisfied with its condition on the outside. but it is understandable, with shipping and all that. overall, still nice with its price and was shipped quickly. no problem with the contents whatsoever.

I'm just going to flat out say it. Overall, I do not like this book. I know many will disagree with me but I just don't like what it teaches. I'm not saying it's wrong about many of these situations but it's basically teaching how to be manipulative. My bf recommended I read it because, yes, it teaches you how to survive in this crazy world but is it really necessary 🤔. Plus, I already know how to manipulate, I just choose not to. One good thing is it's non-fiction so you'll read about stories I'm sure you've never heard of. But it's a hard no for me.

I find the content very interesting even though much of it is in conflict with my values. Like others, I think much of the value of the subject matter to be in preparing oneself to be on guard for the more manipulative techniques being used against you. The book format and printing itself is poor at best. The printing is very small and low contrast, and some of it is in red, which makes it even harder to read for someone like me with older eyes. Also, the text is printed at a slant on the page in the copy I received. Overall I find the actual print quality to be awful. If I had to do it again, I would look for a hardcover or larger format version.

If I was 17 and wanted to write an unsupported text on how to manipulate people, I'd probably create this. For all its talk of miraculously being supported by historical evidence the citations are sparse and the methodology confusing if not non-existent - it is difficult to understand how the author reaches the conclusions they do right from the get-go. For reference, on Law 1, if you spend too much time convincing people that your great ideas are in fact theirs eventually, they'll just think you're a dumbass. Referencing this book will not absolve you of this impression. Probably a huge hit with the people that think "The Art of War" is a revelation too.
This great little concise edition cuts straight to the point. All frills left out. This book definitely suits anyone interested in accessing power. The chapters are paralleled with historical parables, these help to stretch the scope of the book and in a sorts strengthen the argument being made. Im glad I found Robert Greene. Want some power? Get this wonderful little book.
Some readers of this book may believe the author is harsh, egotistical, brutal, and unfriendly. I have to disagree. He simply stated what most of us despise or fear the most: the truth. He was harsh because he didn't mince his words. Excellent book, well-organized and easy to read. Although we cannot deny that many leaders follow 75% of the laws in the book, I believe power should not be so carefully planned. If you read it in a way that helps you understand the people around you and the laws they follow in their rule, it will give you more authority and power to deal with them. That is why I find this book intresting and love how upfront it is about anything and everything.
