I've always loved the Base Camp Duffel bag. It is by far, one of the most iconic TNF products ever released. I'm someone who loves The North Face for both functionality and style. I own many different backpacks and jackets from The North Face and I've always wanted a Base Camp Duffel bag. When I finally had a reason to pick this up, I was absolutely ecstatic. I got it at TNF's 5th Avenue store and they literally have this beautiful display of yellow TNF Base Camp Duffel Bags in the window. To me, this was like buying a LV Keepall. That's how much I love TNF.I decided to go with Black and I was so stoked to open this up back home. There was no way I was going to seriously use a Base Camp Duffel Bag with no handles as a carry-on.This is honestly one of the first TNF purchases I've ever made that I'll be returning in less than 24 hours. Very disappointed.

I got this Base Camp Duffel-Small for a trip to Asia and it's the perfect size-the standard carry on size for most airlines and perfect size for my body (I'm 5'3"). I fit 2 weeks worth of clothes and shoes in here and still had space left over. I got the yellow which is a beautiful color, not too bright. The straps are adjustable and removable and you can grip it as a duffel as well. It's super versatile which I love. My favorite feature is that it has a full zipper so it's easy to pack and unpack. The zipper is on the inside part that touches your back so your goods are secured while traveling. Definitely get this bag!

My suitcase wheel broke, so I had to unload my luggage by buying the Northface base camp duffel s while in Madrid. I was pleased with its capacity; I fit almost my whole suitcase contents into it so I could still take my suitcase around and use the Base camp as my carry on. I realized it was pretty easy to move around streets in Europe with my Base Camp, because they are often cobblestones and uneven(which can ruin a suitcase wheels). On a subsequent trip, I used the Base Camp as my main bag on a two week trip to Argentina. Using packing cubes with my Base Camp, I'm starting to think this might be the way to go for most of my travels. I keep looking for something not to like about it. I've read about how a backpack is more comfortable; that may be true, but every ... I've read about how a backpack is more comfortable; that may be true, but every time I've used my Base Camp, I have been pretty happy with how it carries. Further, it is much sturdier than most backpacks. Unlike backpacks, it loads on the side against your back, so it would be hard for anyone to access it while you were wearing it. Another plus is it carries easier than a pack if you do decide to carry it once in a while.

It is an ok duffel. I bought this bag a few years ago and to be fair it has lasted but I haven't used it too much. The first impressions are pretty good, the fabric seems pretty burely and the bag seemed pretty indestructable. Afterall I had an old north face duffel that lasted over 20 years and it is still in very good condition. However this cannot compare. The design is very basic with pretty outdated and limited features at a very steep price. Starting with the good things, the main zip is proper rugged, ive pulled at it pretty hard and it hasn't been damaged surprisingly, the compression straps are also very good at cinching the bag down. Other reviews also mentioned uncomfortable straps, I disagree, most duffels won't have perfect comfort but compared to ... MoreIt is an ok duffel. Starting with the good things, the main zip is proper rugged, ive pulled at it pretty hard and it hasn't been damaged surprisingly, the compression straps are also very good at cinching the bag down. Other reviews also mentioned uncomfortable straps, I disagree, most duffels won't have perfect comfort but compared to others these straps are very comfortable. The size is also perfect, it fits very well in carry on luggage, and the overhead compartment in trains. It fits all the things I need for a weekend away. Now with the bad there are quite a few. There are pretty outdated and impractical features; the shoulder straps use a double adjustment shoulder strap system, with on of them being by the shoulder, this buckle only lets you adjust 2 inches or so but at the same time tangles and twists which makes the straps awkward. The durability is also pretty disappointing; after about a year, various bits of stitching starting coming off which I have had to awkwardly stitch back together. Although the fabric feels burly, it isn't. After a few months of use, it has started to delaminate and peel. this is rather disappointing considering the price and the older versions of the bag. My older one has only just started breaking, and I abuse it often, dragging it across gravel, working out etc. That thing lasted ages, however I can't see this lasting more than another 3 years. Considering for the price you could get a patagonia black hole duffel with a lifetime warranty, I wouldn't recommend this.
I like this bag a lot. This is my third. I also have the the Base Camp in medium (special Olympics version a few yrs back). This is my second small size (first one I had for 10 years). I travel to neighbor islands a lot for work. This bag packs the necessities. Work boots, computer, rain jacket, small kit. I use it for personal travel as my carry-on. (I've also used the medium as a carry-on).Black looked good but was too hot for Hawaii. Maybe this Navy color will be a little less hot? It does look good though.
I bought this item about 3 years ago and to be fair it's only been used as a gym bag. It doesn't get a lot of use, I was very disappointed 3 fold;I) premium price, poor quality. - after three years the bag has started peeling in certain places.2) for the price £120ish would have expected some thing like this for at least 10 years. That's what I got out my last Northface bag. It's almost like the brand has gone the fashion avenue, rather than sticking to the "quality and durability" I've known northface products to be.3) the costomer services is very poor. I highlighted the defects to someone by email and they came up with a poor excuse that I was out of Warrentee. They suggested I take the bag to a store......I didn't keep the original reciept so I know what the ... MoreI bought this item about 3 years ago and to be fair it's only been used as a gym bag. I bought this in a size small to use as my go-to carry on bag. This completely exceeded my expectations! I love that it is just one big compartment, so I can use my packing cubes to organize my things. I went to Europe in December & I was able to pack a weeks worth of winter clothes (including undergarments, socks, gloves, hat, ect..), toiletries, a heavy winter jacket & scarf. The duffel was pretty packed full, but it all fit! After packing it all up, you can compress the duffel down with the handles on the sides which helped a lot at reducing it's size. It fit perfectly in the overhead compartment on the planes and was comfortable to have on as a backpack. It is heavy duty and weather proof as well. One other perk is that it is ANTI-THEFT when worn as a backpack! ... MoreI bought this in a size small to use as my go-to carry on bag. I've had my eye on one of these bags for a few years now.I've got similar bags in a bigger size by other brands. But the North Face Duffel enjoys an iconic status. So I finally took the plunge when I booked a long weekend travelling by Eurostar to Amsterdam.I was quite excited with the prospect of using this for the first time whilst packing. I like to travel reasonably light and I thought this bag was perfect for a long weekend trip.If I'm being honest ,by the time I got on the train I'd had enough! I couldn't wait to put it down.It is probably the most uncomfortable bag I have ever traveled with. But surely a travel bag is meant to be comfortable to travel with. That's the whole point isn't it?If I could return it I would. Wether I'm allowed to after using it, that's a different matter.
Good bag and feels bombproof right now. Zips are sticky a bit. You can find a way to put a lot in. Great for overhead plane luggage for a couple of weeks away. Shoulder straps are more than adequate for short journeys etc. They can be disconnected.Nice bag.Nerd alert::I would question the 50 litre though.Diameter is 33cmLength 53cmCross section area is 16.5 squared x 3.14 = 855 sq cm855 x 53 = 45300 cubic cms .... So, it is 45.3 litres... just saying. But I'd still recommend 👍Thus
this bag is so amazing, i got myself and my partner one. we took it for 10 days international carryon to NZ and use it everyday as a gym bag for martial arts training to fit our Gi, water bottle and spare clothes. the big bucket design allows you to dump in any kind of gear, and the small internal zip pocket is great for bits and bobs like small pouches and mouthguards. i prefer this version over the XS to get the bigger external pocket, and the medium which is awkward to carry backpack style. it also fits most Australian and NZ carryon restrictions providing you don't overload the weight. because there is no pockets facing outward, i also feel very secure from pick pockets. the main drawback is that if it is heavy, it's not a very comfortable carry with the ...
