Inspired by our Borealis Backpack, this Tote version borrows some of the backpack s recognisable details, such as an external bungee cord to cinch in your stuff, keeping it safe. It also has two water bottle holders on the sides, a padded laptop sleeve and a handy stand-up design. It delivers pretty much all the function of the Borealis Backpack for people that don t wear backpacks. 100% Nylon.

2 weeks and should strap stitching came undone, no refund.

I used this tote for 2 weeks as a personal bag on planes, I carried an iPad, water, passport and snacks. I used it mainly at the airport and while on the plane, well after that trip the stitching started coming undone.I was told to send it to repair, so I did, but the warranty department just sent me a gift card for the cost of the bag. I lost time with customer service, driving to town to mail it, customer service again, and I ended up without bag and without my money, because TNF things that they should hold my money and force me to buy more of their products.Disappointing and abusive policies. Most of my gear is from TNF, but I'm not buying nor recommending the brand anymore, I'm done with these big companies taking advantage.

I got this bag for about $39 after the member sale and using my REI cash back. The white bag is a translucent, thin material, which is important to note for the front pocket if you’re storing anything important. The downsides: my package arrived with a big hole punched in the front and the bag itself wasn’t in a protective sealed bag or anything; just in there exposed. There is a small scuff. Not sure if that came from production or because there was a hole in the box. There’s also some thread fraying. It’s pretty good overall and I plan to keep it, but had I paid the full $80 I likely would have returned the bag and gone with a fjallraven one I was looking at.

I got one in each color while they were on sale. I now realize why they were half off. One bag arrived with questionable stitching where the zipper pull is. The other's North Face logo was stitched way too thick and looked like a knockoff. In fact, I questioned if these were even legitimate North Face bags. After some research, they do appear to be genuine but their quality has gone down. The fabric is thin and is not intended for heavy loads. I would not carry a heavy load anyway because if you use the backpack straps, the plastic buckles cut into your shoulder blades and back. It gets painful. This is only practical as a light tote bag or carried on your shoulder. If you place a lot in it, don't expect to use it as a backpack comfortably. I still like these bags for light usage but I'm disappointed with TNF. Their quality control used to be so much better. If they would have used something more comfortable in the strap buckle area and improved the stitching, I'd rate this higher. I will say I do recommend this bag if you are using it for light carrying. Don't even get me started on the terrible service from Dick's though! Don't try to use your credit card if your billing address is different from your shipping address! My order failed 2-3 times before it went through. Overall, not a great experience.

DO NOT BUY VERY UNCOMFORTABLE
9 September 2024

I wanted to love it but unfortunately I didn't. The color and material is nice but the stitching is horrible. Not to mention the straps are painful. I walked with the bag on for thirty minutes and the plastic part of the strap cut into my skin and bruised my shoulders. My shoulders are incredibly sore.

Favorite Bag!
2 September 2023

I wanted to get a bag that could be used as a tote and backpack, and this one is perfect! It fits my 15 inch MacBook Air and iPad perfectly with LOTS more room for other things including a large water bottle. I am in school in the medical field so I have to carry a lot of things and this bag carries everything I need without looking big and bulky. It also doesn't look huge on me, as a smaller person (5'4), so it looks great! I also love the quality of this bag because it's definitely something that will last a lifetime and can be great for travel as well. Highly recommend.

Needs some improvement
9 May 2024

I typically love all North Face products, but this was a little disappointing. The bag is well-made overall. The outer lining is a little thin though, so you can see the inner fabric through it. Maybe they could've used a lighter color inside so that it wouldn't look so funny. Also, the bag is boxier than expected.

Nice weekend bag but a few flaws I'd like to see changed
18 April 2024

It's a good size and lightweight for quick weekend city hopping train trips, but when it's packed full the straps are really tight to use it as a backpack. Too bad the straps aren't adjustable to make it more comfortable. Also the top zipper does not feel very strong when the bag is pretty full. Hoping it will last because I like it as a weekend bag for riding the rails around Europe. I like that it wipes clean very easily.

Not worth the money
18 November 2023

The straps are not long enough to actually wear as a backpack. It would have been nice if the straps had the ability to be made longer so that it could actually be worn as a backpack. I just had to send it in to get fixed as the one strap came apart at the seams, after only have it about a week. Would not recommend for the money spent on it. Definitely disappointing as I've never had issues with north face before.

Practical tote but some adjustments should be made
5 April 2022

I use this as my day to day bag to hold my laptop and daily outings. I find the backpack straps to be useful when my hands are full running errands, however on the opposite side of that i also find there needs to be some sort of stopper where the backpack straps go. If I use it as a shoulder tote, which is it's primary purpose, if I take one strap off to get into the bag, the bag handles since the bag, pushing out the contents and crumpling the lower part of the bag. There needs to be something that prevents the back pack straps from being free/coming loose whenever. I also find the shoulder straps to be too thin and uncomfortable. I love the compartments and the dual top zips and everything else about the bag.

Quality bag
10 March 2023

I bought this bag to use as my beach bag on an upcoming vacation. I was very happy with the quality, and look of the bag. It’s a good size but maybe not the right size for everyone at the beach. It’s a bit smaller than a typical beach bag and you’re not going to get much in if you shove a towel in there but if you keep the towel out you should have no issues filling it with all you need. It’s a nice light weight but still feels like a solid build. The ability to become a backpack is very handy if like me you have a 4 year old that will ask someone else to carry their stuff 5 minutes in to the beach walk. Two minor issues I have are:1. The lack of a strap at the handles to hold them together for carrying. This one seems like a bigger oversight to me.
