I ordered these after searching through the myriad of brands and designs that all looked pretty ugly and clunky with no sense of style. Found these, loved the design and overall style. The materials however might be a little harsh and really really hard. Overall they are comfortable at the heel and ankle but boy oh boy are the narrow. Even one full size up for my typical sneaker size they are brutally painful. I wear vans for example at size 11. So for this boot I tried 11.5 and 12. The 11.5 fit ideal but how narrow they get at the front of the boot is very uncomfortable and very painful. I tried the 12 and those weren't as snug at the heel as I would prefer with the 11.5 but I didn't mind. Pretty bummed I will have to return these since I really like the style. Oh well. I do not recommend at all.

I bought a pair of these shoes about a month ago. I love them so much. So I bought another pair for my grandson. They fit perfectly and required no break-in period. I highly recommend these shoes from North Face. Grip on wet asphalt pavement is excellent.

Comfortable, warm, durable, light, stylish. This is my second pair of the back-to-Berkeley model. I bought the first pair off a sale rack a couple of years ago. They're still holding up great, and I liked them so much I wanted them in the brown with the red laces too. The only other shoes I've ever bought more than once in the same model are the asics gel kayanos.

I got these boots specifically to go to Ukraine. The situation over there is difficult, so I really tested these over the past couple of weeks.hey turned out to be very comfortable, and they kept my feet warm during an 18 hour trip. They unfortunately start to feel cold after a little over an hour outdoors in cold weather. They don't breathe very well, but I guess that's a balancing act with making them waterproof or breathable. They look great, but they lack a bit of grip in icy conditions. They are ok in snowy and wet roads; my feet were not wet an any moment.Somehow, one shoe lace is longer than the other, which makes it frustrating to tie them up, I always nave to tie one tighter than the other to have enough lace for a regular loop. This never happened to me before with any shoes in my life, so I think it's the most disappointing part.Otherwise, I love wearing them, and they look really good.
Pros: Looks awesome and I want a pair. Feels very very solid. Metal eyelets are very secure. Traction is nice overall, providing good shock protection on the bottom.Cons: Unable to remove cemented insole to perform a visual fit test. Compared to my other TNF shoes, these boots are not accurate with the fit/size guide: it is 3 sizes too small-a size 8 (26cm) is comparible to the size 7 (25cm). The laces are flat, not round and/or elastic like their awesomely Vectivs (the Vectivs I recommend). Too many cement streaks on the leather, which cheapens the look.Verdict: 2 stars. I want the boots, but too small. Would have to trial and error with buying, returning rebuying for the best fit-unsure if you can buy 'em again at the previous holiday sale price (exchanges not ... MorePros: Looks awesome and I want a pair. Early review but so far so good. Solid construction and materials. Snug fit, more like a running shoe than boot > which is good and makes them feel quite nimble. I had an original Gen I pair that lasted 3-4 years, still in good condition but the glue started to let go on the sole which then lead to small leaks > hopefully this one doesn’t suffer the same fate.
This recent model from now seemingly instant classic "Back to Berkeley" faction are exceedingly as handsome as they are hearty. While noticeably durable, the waterproof leather TNF footwear stalwarts remain just as rich in function as they area fashion! Surely they'll last me a good long time, yet without hesitation would undoubtedly purchase series again and again! True to size, look and feel. 5 star across the board!
I have the Back-To-Berkeley 3 and they are very well built, comfortable and strudy so I was confident with this purchase, the 4 look better in my opinion, size still run small so add 1 over your regular size, but overall the 3 are more sturdier.. more ankle support, the sole his higher quality I wear the 3 in rain many time and they still look fresh and no bad smell... but I cannot say that I would do the same with the 4.. its a cheaper built in all aspect, but it dosent look cheap... just compare to the 3 it's a cheaper built in terms of materials... the shoe his lighter but in terms of style.. its another level!! they look slick!!! I got the black colorway...
Due to the sizing issue, I wouldn’t recommend for any serious activity, but it looks cool and has great traction and is my go-to footwear when the temperature drops. It’s very comfortable both for warmth and for softness.I haven’t had them long enough to talk about durability or quality, but so far I am very impressed.I prefer wearing these as compared to my red wings.
Great Boots! Waterproof at that. I suggest sizing a half size up even with normal width feet. They run narrow on the toebox area. I’m a 9.5D brannock and I went 10US in these. Also gotta account for thicker wool hiking socks if at all. So sizing a half size up is your best bet
