Needed an additional Christmas gift for our son visiting in Portland, Oregon from California, Never brings a heavier coat but just a hoodie and we were having a cold spell. Offered to have him pick out a North Face jacket to be left here because he didn't need a warmer coat for the California climate. He selected this coat that had a warmer liner that could be unzipped and taken off with the option of using the outer jacket alone. A perfect solution because it looked great and could be used for both the warmer California climate and also for colder weather in Portland with the liner. He, of course, chose to take it home and not leave it here so it will get much more use.

Excellent jacket. I love the double layers and the inner lining jacket can be used in slightly warmer weather. It feels great on your skin and doesn't make you sweat like some other bulky jackets. Beautiful color too!

Got this for my 17 year old son and he absolutely loves it. Probably the most elegant, flattering and practical jacket he's ever had. The fabric feels fantastic. Lightweight and soft yet waterproof.Perfect for hiking and skiing - and posh enough to wear into the city for dressy events.Such a nice coat that I'm planning to get one for myself as well.

Looked long and hard for a comfortable, lightweight jacket that I could wear in cool, cold, windy, and/or rainy weather. The Thermoball Triclimate jacket meets my goals! When the jacket arrived in a smallish plastic bag, I thought maybe my wife had bought a shirt or something. To my surprise, this wonderful and amazing jacket was inside! The outer shell is comfortable, breathable, and with a nice feel (Gortex is too "crunchy" for me). I wear it by itself most of the time. The Thermoball inner jacket is very lightweight and super comfortable - adds just the right touch of warmth for a cool day and combined with the shell keeps me warm on cold ones.I'm a big guy (6 ft, 235 lbs) but the XL fit snug but comfortable, even with both the inner and outer jackets on.I plan ... MoreLooked long and hard for a comfortable, lightweight jacket that I could wear in cool, cold, windy, and/or rainy weather. It fits great scrunched in the bottom of my backpack when I don't need it and handles everything but prolonged, extreme cold.Great jacket, great company.
I like it. It's only good for temperature above 34F. It wouldn't handle ski mountain temperature. It's good in most part of California. I wouldn't dare to go to Lake Tahoe during winter with just this jacket alone. Rainproof outer layer is nice.
Nice jacket overall. But it did not have insulated pocket which was really a disappointment. It also did not have a third zipper pocket. It had a few zipper pockets in the show but that was really inconvenient. I returned it to the North face store, for a try climate jacket with an insulated pocket.. and some additional velcro pockets.
When I was growing up and an avid camper, hiker, climber, North Face was a brand we all wanted to own. We knew we could count on it to keep us warm and dry, no matter the conditions. Sadly, this isn't the case any longer. The Men's ThermoBall Eco Triclimat was an investment for me as I live in New England and we have wet cold winters. Unfortunately this investment was a failure from the start. When I first put on the jacket, the pocket zipper came right off because the stitching of the pocket hadn't been completed, there was literally no stitching for several inches at the bottom of the pocket. How could that pass Quality inspection, I have no idea. The color and size were on back order, so returning wasn't an option. How could that pass Quality inspection, I have no idea. The color and size were on back order, so returning wasn't an option. I was given a discount and had a local seamstress repair the jacket. Then one of the loops that holds the sleeves together broke, it can't be repaired. The jacket is not waterproof, especially the sleeves- even in a light rain the sleeves start to soak through. Also, the hood will never stay on your head in wind, there are no clips to hold the drawstrings. This is a jacket to look stylish in the city, not for wearing in bad weather, and certainly not for any type of outdoor activity. Overall, it's the quality I would expect form a $100 jacket, not a $300+ piece of clothing.
I actually now own two of these - one in the TNF black, and one in the summit blue - it's the best bang for your buck. You get two incredible jackets for the price of one, and together they're a power team. Truly impressed with this combo. It's my go-to jacket for casual wear (I usually separate them and wear one or the other in less colder weather) and my go-to jacket for colder weather, wearing them together. The thermoball really does keep you warm and the outside keeps you dry / protects you against the wind. The only con, and it's not much of a con with this type of jacket, is the overall breathability when they're combined, but that shouldn't be an issue for most since when you're wearing them together you're protecting yourself from colder weather. I bought this jacket as my everyday winter jacket. I was not expecting to wear the themoball by itself much but I was surprised by the versatility. The whole jacket itself is extremely warm and wind proof. I love the lightweight thermoball liner and I was recently able to wear the liner under a shell ski jacket in negative weather with no problems and it still felt very lightweight. Highly recommend. I'm a true large on rare occasions larges have been to small this jacket ran a tiny bit big which I appreciated.
Got this as a Christmas present. Never owned a North Face jacket, nor really owned clothing this expensive before. I always rolled my eyes at "technology clothing" or clothing with buzzword features, but oh my has that changed now. I recently moved to Portland and needed something completely water resistant. No liquid will soak into this fabric, it will just bead off no problem. The jacket is thin and feels like an internal temperature control. I was so used coming from Chicago essentially gearing up for Siberia in winter that I didn't know jackets could be so warm and thin. Overall I am very impressed. If I had to complain about one small thing, the zippers feel way to thin and I fear one day I might pull too hard and break it.
