This jacket is pretty light but the material is still thick enough to give it a substantial look. Good length covering the hip. I like this style which vertically is in one piece. Unlike many new TNF styles which are cut into an upper part and a lower part, creating a horizontal line across the jacket which makes you look fat and bulky. I like how this jacket looks - clean, snug, and slim.

I got this jacket for hiking and sailing in moody October weather of Northern MA. So far got to test it for a week, and it did quite well. The emerald color is very beautiful (rather muted than bright), and the fabric doesn't look plasticky or cheap at all. When the rain is a light drizzle, this jacket is fantastic even if you don't tighten it in the hip and the wrist areas. When it's pouring heavily, with strong wind and sea breeze coming from different sides, you have to pay more attention to the cuff straps, the hood and the hip area, or some moisture may get in. I found that the cuffs worked best with gloves - when you tighten them over the gloves no water gets in!I also got to really appreciate the underarm ventilation zippers - the jacket is not very ... MoreI got this jacket for hiking and sailing in moody October weather of Northern MA. So when you're indoors or wearing a lot of layers the zippers come really handy. As for sizing, I am 5'7, 110 lbs, and size S fit me perfectly. Even more, I was able to get up to three layers under it: a thin base, a light fleece and a thick polartec fleece without losing freedom of movement. Definitely recommend this product!

I was torn between this jacket and another brand rain jacket. Being plus sized, my options for quality gear are limited, and thanks to The North Face, I am ready for adventure. I purchased the Misty Jade jacket in a XXXL. The fit was more of a TTS fit instead of a relaxed fit for me. I want The North Face to make this jacket in a plus sized version instead of just standard sizing. What sold me on this jacket vs. the competition was the vented pit zips because I am a hot natured person. Also, I got the jacket on sale, which made me even happier. You will have no problem using this rain jacket in the summer, or any season for that matter. I wanted a jacket that is packable for my upcoming trip to Ireland. It is thin a jacket, but I feel like that is what makes it so ... MoreI was torn between this jacket and another brand rain jacket. I am contemplating on purchasing another color, but will probably wait for another sale, or if it becomes available in the plus size range.

I bought this jacket for my wife who is a very active person (ex professional athlete). The jacket feels a bit big, as my wife generally wears an S and here the XS was a perfect fit. It's not a big deal, but I would definitely try it before in a shop.My wife feels great in this jacket, it's comfortable, windproof and waterproof. It's very lightweight and not warming. I've seen people complaining about the fact it's not warm. Just read the description, it is supposed to be like this. Now the color, Kokomo green, is nothing less than spectacular. Just to give you an idea - my wife did not take it off for three days straight. Additionally, it's vivid enough to be spotted in poor visibility conditions. This said, it does not fully serve its purpose. Just to give you an idea - my wife did not take it off for three days straight. Additionally, it's vivid enough to be spotted in poor visibility conditions. This said, it does not fully serve its purpose. It is supposed to be designed for rainy weather, that's why we bought it. And at the beginning it felt like it is. However when the actual rain started and my wife needed to use the hood, the flaw in the design was obvious: the hood is unexpectedly small. My wife, as many active women do, tends to wear a ponytail. With her ponytail there is absolutely no way to put the hood on and not to keep your face sticking out of it, exposed to rain. There is a size regulation in the back of the hood... but it only goes smaller. Maybe the problem is the XS size, but then still, the hood is not proportional to the rest of the jacket. It could have been deeper and then you would just adjust it to your head size or hairstyle. That's why 3 stars. If not because of the hood, I would opt for giving it 6 stars out of 5. But bottom line is, it does not really serve its purpose.
I had hoped to wear the Venture 2 while running and hiking. The non-heathered versions are very lightweight (the heathered versions have a different texture and slightly heavier fabric, boo). Breathability seems decent; I haven't found a rain jacket with breathability that I'd rate as great.I love the fit of the body of the jacket. I usually have to size up to have enough room in the shoulders, but this jacket married a good range of motion in the shoulders with a feminine fit. However, the hood is a different story. The hood is too small for me to wear a ponytail or small bun while simultaneously have the (also too small) visor cover even where my forehead meets my hairline, let alone the rest of my face. So the hood keeps the back of your head dry, but not the front.I also wonder why TNF didn't make the collar capable of storing the hood when not in use. Even worse than losing the convenience of not having the hood flopping around, the lack of collar means that not wearing the hood (let's say you've got a hat on in the rain) leaves the back of your neck and your back vulnerable to getting wet while water pools in the unused hood. I'll be exchanging this for the heavier Resolve Plus model that has this feature and hope not to mind the heavier construction.
I am very pleased with the purchase of the North Face Venture 2 Rain Jacket. This was to replace my Sierra Designs for everyday wear in the Central FL summer showers. I was able to break it in on a recent trip to Upstate NY. On a three mile walk with a steady light shower, the jacket kept me warm (temps were in the 60s) and dry. I also wore it as an outer layer on a boat cruise, and it fit nicely over a few layers of clothing, including a sweatshirt. The hood stays on nicely, something my previous rain jacket did not allow unless I was wearing a ball cap.I am 5' 2" and about average weight, and I purchased a size Small in Cayenne Red- beautiful color! Other reviews mentioned the jacket being loud; when I inquired my travel mates, they did not notice any noise.I have not had an opportunity yet to try it out on summer downpours in Florida, but overall I am happy with my purchase.
I had really high hopes for this jacket. When I first received it I was super excited because the fit was great. I was put off by the stiffness of the fabric (it makes a lot of noise with even slight movements), but if it was a breathable as they say (as good as Gortex, they claim), it would be worth it. Unfortunately, during a winter hike in the woods on a non-rainy -17C day, I started to feel clammy after less than 2 km. When I took the jacket off after less than 3 KM, the inside was soaked everywhere and the fleece I was wearing under it was also really wet (there were actually drops all over the surface. Even my phone, which was in the outside zippered pocket, was moist. I purchased this to bring with me to Hawaii during the beginning of their rainy season..best last minute investment I’ve made for travel. It’s lightweight and has put zips in case you get a little muggy while dodging monsoons in the tropics. It can even be stuffed into its own stow pocket that has a small loop to clip it onto a backpack, bum pack or purse. I ordered up a size in case I needed to layer underneath, and suggest doing this since it does run slim. Hiking in Hawaii and encountered pop up down pours often and this shell kept me completely dry. Has a hood which can be sinched if needed. Def a lifelong travel buddy for me!
So hard to find remotely functional clothing in plus sizes! Fat women leave the house too! I was thrilled to find a raincoat in my size that was waterproof, breathable, lightweight, and had pit zips. It was even a gorgeous purple colour! I love that the hood has a slightly stiffened brim and is adjustable, although I still haven't figured out how you secure I love that it packs into its own pocket. I love that the sleeves are not miles too long for my 5'2" self and have velcro to tighten around the wrist anyway. I love that it is as thin and cool as it could possibly be, so it doesn't feel like torture to put on in the summer. I just took it on a canoe trip where it and I both fell in the water. Even putting it on over wet clothes, it dried within minutes. I was skeptical about the breathability, but I was cool and comfortable and the fabric never felt clammy on my skin. It's nice that you can adjust the bottom drawstring from inside the righthand pocket, so you don't have to unzip to tighten, even though the fit will never allow me to use this feature. If I could have everything I wished for, it would be a bit looser through the hips (I'm about two sizes bigger in the hips than through the shoulders, and I won't be able to zip this with a sweater on), would have longer/more vents (including a back one) and maybe have mesh in those to keep them from gaping too much when unzipped, have a two-way main zipper, and have at least one zippered pocket (although the current pockets are very deep and well-shaped to feel secure). It would also come in even more sizes. Although I found one that worked for me, there are still several people in my life who can't get rain gear for love or money.
I'm not joking when I tell you I bought and returned this jacket at least five times. I loved the fit. TNF is honestly the only outdoor company that makes figure flattering clothing (at least figure flattering for me). I wasn't crazy about some of the features or lack of features and I went back and forth between this and a BD jacket. Honestly, I would have kept the BD because it did have better features for climbing, but there was so much extra sleeve material and it didn't fit my waist as well. It was really the sleeves that made me pick TNF. It is always smart to pack a rain jacket when climbing, but chances are I know the weather and can't climb in the rain. So perhaps the features weren't as necessary as they were more perks. However, it would be REALLY AMAZING ... MoreI'm not joking when I tell you I bought and returned this jacket at least five times. I get Velcro on the sleeves (kind of), but Velcro snags a lot of clothing material these days. I always have to pack Velcro items away from some of my clothing. That would be my dream improvement for this jacket.
