I wear this for running on chilly mornings in north Florida, good down to maybe 30 - 35 degrees. The fabric does feel thin but my husband says it's similar to the latest materials worn by professional and collegiate athletes. It really is amazing how light but efficient it is. A small amount of insulation in the mid section to keep internal organs warm. I may buy in another color. I'm 5'5 and 116 lbs and the small fit perfectly, not too bulky.

Great for recumbent biking.

I ride a recumbent bicycle. My base layer is 250g merino wool. The lack of insulation in the back is perfect for this purpose. At 40 degrees I don't need any middle layers. At 32 degrees I had a light fleece as a mid layer. I am 173 lbs. 5'10". 37 inch waist 41 inch chest. With no extra layers fit is perfect. With extra layers it's pretty tight in the arms but no a problem for me.

I have been running in this jacket since it was delivered about 3 weeks ago. It's still super cold here in CO so I wear a down vest over it, but it's become the perfect pair until it warms above 20 degrees! I love the color and the soft outside of the NF jacket. Thanks for adding pockets to stuff gloves when I warm up after a couple miles. I also like that the cuffs cover well, but are not too tight as with other jackets so that I can still check my Garmin and see my stats. I'm 5'2" and 120 lbs. The small was an exact fit standing. But I needed more shoulder room to swing my arms so I ordered a medium and glad I did!

Light small sized jacket
4 July 2022

I got this to use on camping and hiking trips when temperatures require something warmer than a wind breaker, but less than an insulated jacket. I'm a little concerned that then slight bit of insulation, which is what wanted, is only in the front of the jacket. There is none in the back. I decided to keep it since I got it at a sale price and the purple color is lovely. I had to buy a larger size because my usual size, a large, was not big enough in the shoulders and offered no room for any layer underneath other than a thin one.

My go-to winter running jacket
9 February 2022

My cold weather runs have become so much more enjoyable in this jacket. It blocks heavy wind like a champ, and provides great warmth, especially for how thin it is. I've been pairing it with a warm, tight base layer for runs with strong wind and temperatures around 10F. I've felt warm each time. Note that it's definitely slim fitting. This is a plus for me (I don't have a need to pair more than one good base layer underneath) but it might be a stretch to fit a base layer and mid layer underneath. Highly recommended!

Nice, pricey, flattering but comfortable (size up)

Great windbreaker, but not good for Winter. It gets cold here and thinner side of the arms and back gets cold to the skin, but the thicker core and front of arms don’t. This would be a layer for cool weather not like a thermal/venting layer for actual cold weather like Alaska. I plan to wear it hiking in the fall and when I mountain bike in the summer.

Perfect sub freezing technical trail jacket

Perfect jacket for what it is---probably wouldn't wear it out casually---it looks nice, but, this is definitely a technical piece of gear. I was looking for something that I can run in with just one layer underneath when the weather drops below 32. This jacket is incredible--probably would work with a technical short sleeve t-shirt for anything 32-40. I've been wearing with a long sleeve technical t-shirt when the weather is in the teens ---yesterday with 18 mph winds it felt like 5 and I was toasty warm with just my Craft base layer. Plenty of ventilation in the back panel ----and jacket does well to wick sweat away from base layer. Most of my trail runs are 45 minutes to an hour and a half and this jacket stays fairly dry. Best cold winter jacket I have ever owned---another winner from TNF. 5'5" 180 - broad shoulders and athletic build and the medium fits perfect.

Runs Small

I'm pretty much always a Medium, but this Medium was so tight on my arms and shoulders, super uncomfortable. It's going back. I wanted to blue color but purple is only available in L so I'll settle for that. I love the concept of the breathable back material for backpacking and hiking. hoping the Large fits better through the shoulders.

I bought this jacket for cold weather running. However, I wanted to test it's limits and when I did, this jacket performed better than expected.First, I used this in combination with the Brooks notch thermal 2.0 - another remarkable piece of kit. I've made round trips on Mount Lady Washington and Quandary peak in full-winter conditions with only these two layers. I don't like being cold and I never once felt a chill. I've also used it in high winds at Loveland Pass - with a light wind-shell this is as good a setup as gortex. Perfect for alpine hikes - super light and packable. The jacket is warm but more importantly it has incredible wicking prowess. The outer shell sheds moisture like I've never seen. Was happy until I wasn’t

I got this jacket as a layer to use for running in the cooler/colder months. It seemed to be a pretty well made jacket and kept me quite warm with layers for the colder days and did a great job when used just over a sports bra on warmer but still chilly days.. however there was a manufacturer issue with the logo, it appeared to be just an iron on type of material, and the back logo began lifting just after a few times of being used. I had it ironed back down and thought I had fixed the issue, only to find the T from the ‘The’ missing, after I went to put it on after having it tied around my waist during a run. I actually really liked this jacket and was super bummed about the logo problem so I just returned it for a completely different jacket from another company. ... MoreI got this jacket as a layer to use for running in the cooler/colder months.
