I got this jacket to be my raincoat since we've had a particularly wet fall and winter here in DC and I'm about to move to the PNW. I was really excited to find a north face jacket in my size. This jacket would definitely be a 5 star jacket if only the sleeves were long enough to cover over my hands. I'm 5'9 and the sleeves barely reach my wrists. When it downpours, water gets into my sleeves even when I tighten up the Velcro straps. I really expect more in a waterproof jacket for such a high price point. Other than that it's a great jacket, I'm a true 3x and it fits everywhere except the sleeves. The rest of the jacket truly is waterproof, the rain just rolls right off. So if you're taller than like 5'5 pick something else.

Live in Hawaii and needed a durable, lightweight raincoat for work. Can work outside in the rain for hours in this and stay dry. Typically wear a tank top underneath (avg temp here is 80F) so if you work up a sweat it'll stick to you a bit. The pit zippers help it breath a little better, but a lot of heat gets trapped inside. Good if that's what you're looking for. 10/10 on the rain aspect though. Helps block the offshore winds really well. I have pretty thin wrists so sometimes if I lift my hands up water will run down inside the sleeves, but that's more a personal issue than an issue with the jacket. Sometimes the hood strings don't stay pulled tight and you have to adjust them a lot, probably the only drawback. Packs up tight and stores in one of the pocket, doesn't take up a lot of space, which is pretty sick. I also have pretty long arms and a thin frame so usually have to buy a size up and everything looks baggy and too big - not this guy. The medium has sleeves plenty long and it's comfortable and form fitting with a hoody underneath or without.Had to wait a little longer on shipping but that's what you get for living on island and having a virus hit the world.

I tried it on and immediately started the return process. First, it runs small. I ordered one size up. Second, I hated the white lining; it is visible at the top opening and looks absolutely ugly. Third, the material reminds that of a garbage bag and makes noise when you move. I also felt it was overpriced.

This is a great lightweight jacket for rainy, active days. I bought this to use at Disney and Universal. I love the fact that it folds up into a small, tight bundle and won't take up much room in my bag. The con is that even though the fit is spot on everywhere else in the jacket, when zipped it is snug around the bottom. I do not have an hourglass shape (pretty straight top to bottom) so this is odd an has not been the case with other North Face jackets. You may want to go up one size, just for this reason.
Apart from what some other reviewers have said online, this jacket is NOT roomy but snug fitting, especially in the arms. It's also VERY hot - the pit zips are teensy! It could use a back flap and other venting. As well, it's very flimsy and cheap looking. Perhaps the men's Venture is better, but the womens? As the saying goes: Shrink-it-and-Pink it - speaking of which the colour choices are BARF. Two thumbs down.
I am very pleased with the purchase of the North Face Venture 2 Rain Jacket. This was to replace my Sierra Designs for everyday wear in the Central FL summer showers. I was able to break it in on a recent trip to Upstate NY. On a three mile walk with a steady light shower, the jacket kept me warm (temps were in the 60s) and dry. I also wore it as an outer layer on a boat cruise, and it fit nicely over a few layers of clothing, including a sweatshirt. The hood stays on nicely, something my previous rain jacket did not allow unless I was wearing a ball cap.I am 5' 2" and about average weight, and I purchased a size Small in Cayenne Red- beautiful color! Other reviews mentioned the jacket being loud; when I inquired my travel mates, they did not notice any noise.I have not had an opportunity yet to try it out on summer downpours in Florida, but overall I am happy with my purchase.
This was my FIRST Northface jacket purchase (based off reviews) and I bought 2 colors (black and moonlight jade). I absolutely adore this jacket for its light weight quality, rainproof capabilities, and overall look/style. For reference, I am 5 foot, 110 lbs and the XS fit me well. I am planning to take one of the jackets up with me to my Yosemite trip coming up and wanted something light enough for hiking/travel, water-proof, and windbreaker. It can fold up very small which is SUPER convenient! The price was perfecf as well because it was the same same jacket this year, just last year's colors. Can't wait to use both my jackets!!!
I purchased this jacket 2 days before a recent camping trip with heavy rain forecast. Thanks to Altitude Sports' legendary service, I received it the next day (a Sunday) just in time before leaving. I have to say that I love this jacket. It's light weight and perfectly waterproof. I also really like the color(bristol blue). I read some reviews that mentioned the sleeves are a bit short so I decided to order a medium instead of my usual small and it's actually perfect.
So hard to find remotely functional clothing in plus sizes! Fat women leave the house too! I was thrilled to find a raincoat in my size that was waterproof, breathable, lightweight, and had pit zips. It was even a gorgeous purple colour! I love that the hood has a slightly stiffened brim and is adjustable, although I still haven't figured out how you secure I love that it packs into its own pocket. I love that the sleeves are not miles too long for my 5'2" self and have velcro to tighten around the wrist anyway. I love that it is as thin and cool as it could possibly be, so it doesn't feel like torture to put on in the summer. I just took it on a canoe trip where it and I both fell in the water. Even putting it on over wet clothes, it dried within minutes. I was ... MoreSo hard to find remotely functional clothing in plus sizes! Fat women leave the house too! Even putting it on over wet clothes, it dried within minutes. I was skeptical about the breathability, but I was cool and comfortable and the fabric never felt clammy on my skin. It's nice that you can adjust the bottom drawstring from inside the righthand pocket, so you don't have to unzip to tighten, even though the fit will never allow me to use this feature. If I could have everything I wished for, it would be a bit looser through the hips (I'm about two sizes bigger in the hips than through the shoulders, and I won't be able to zip this with a sweater on), would have longer/more vents (including a back one) and maybe have mesh in those to keep them from gaping too much when unzipped, have a two-way main zipper, and have at least one zippered pocket (although the current pockets are very deep and well-shaped to feel secure). It would also come in even more sizes. Although I found one that worked for me, there are still several people in my life who can't get rain gear for love or money.
Bought jacket on sale over Victoria Day weekend - great price for a waterproof, windproof breathable shell, in fact, I like all the specs. Fit well and stayed dry while hiking in an urban forest with heavy spring rain. For my size, I can easily wear it with a baselayer and a mid-layer if needed. I like the Banff blue colour although it is brighter than what's shown in the photos
