I purchased an "original" Denali jacket 12 years ago, and have worn it every year since until I finally bought this as a replacement. I am extremely disappointed.First, the Denali 2 fabric looks and feels like cheaper fleece than my original Denali The fleece is very soft, but not as thick or structured as the "professional" fleece on the original Denali.Second, the sizing of this jacket is all off. Both the body and the arms are way oversized - to the point that the seams for the arms fall several inches below my shoulders.Which brings me to the arms. The arms of the original Denali were roomy enough for sweaters, but had enough structure and form that they didn't look baggy. The arms of the Denali 2 are much bigger in circumference than the original, and that combined with the difference in fleece makes the arms of the Denali 2 feel floppy and baggy. In addition, the new Denali uses a stretchy fabric for the wrist cuff. But the original Denali's thin, non-stretchy wrist cuff was what made sure air didn't get in through the hand area. The Denali 2's new stretchy fabric is not as fitted, so it doesn't seem to seal off air as well. Plus, even just in trying the jacket on, the cuff material seemed to stretch out a little. I doubt the cuffs would maintain their shape for 12 years. And finally, the nail in the coffin: the bottom hem. My favorite feature of the original Denali is that you could cinch the bottom hem on both sides (at the hip, directly below the arms) so that (1) the jacket looks more fitted and professional, and (2) the "seal" keeps air from getting in or out. The Denali 2 pretends to have the same cinching feature, but (1) I could not get the cinching cords to actually work, and (2) the cords are located in the front of the jacket, so if you cinch the hem it not only adds bulk to your front waist area, but results in "cord excess" hanging out the front bottom of the jacket.Needless to say, I returned this jacket.

I bought this thinking it would be like the TNF Candescent full zip fleece jacket I have; more relaxed yet with a slim feminine fit. Boy was I wrong! This joint fits like a men's jacket with women's printed on the tag (I usually size up so I can wear long sleeves under it if it's colder outside). It's so boxy and weird. Like the arms are relaxed but it's tight in the shoulders, the cinch in the waist is pretty much not there, and the very bottom of the jacket doesn't lay. It kind of just flares out a little; I'm assuming it's because of the drawstring in it but I don't like it. I'm not sure which one they sent me but it's nothing like what the model is wearing. I have A LOT of TNF jackets and they all are a hit or miss. This one for me was a miss.

I love that North Face offers its quality products for plus size women. I normally wear a 2X top and 3X bottom in other brands. Based on reviews and size chart, I ordered a 3X and it fits perfectly. I wear this fleece almost everyday. I've been looking for a good quality fleece for years and even tried the older Denali model. This goes with everything and keeps me super warm! There are some awesome upgrades in this years style. The sleeves and body length are longer and the cuffs aren't as tight. So the sleeves don't ride up. The fit seems much better than the past years and it is definitely worth the money. I hope I have this for a very long time. My favorite go-to warm layer!
College student living in the bay area where it if much colder than what I'm used to back home. Bought this jacket to keep my warm while looking effortlessly stylish. Chose the Balsam green color to match w/ the everyday black leggings look or if I'm not feeling bloated -denim jeans lol. I was really debating between the green and the blue w/ black block but I'm glad I got green because it's color is much like an army, military parka color so I can match with brown or black boots depending on my choice of top and bottoms. yay for versatility! I definitely will be living in this jacket once the cold weather starts kicking in again or if I am out for an evening in the frkn cold bay area climate. Love how its casual but you can def try fancy-ing it up w/ a cute pair of ... MoreCollege student living in the bay area where it if much colder than what I'm used to back home. Love how its casual but you can def try fancy-ing it up w/ a cute pair of booties. But lets be real, I will be throwing this jacket on once midterms and finals season come rolling thru since I could care less about what I look like as long as I stay warm and comfy. That being said, I'm a petite 5'0 ft/ 110lb girl so even tho I bought the XS, the jacket is a bit baggy and long on me but I like that comfy look and knew to expect that before purchasing this. The only thing I dont like is that i think this jacket accentuates my broad shoulders a bit.
I have about 3 other TNF jackets/sweaters and I love them all. even my basic TNF hoodie is warm enough to wear in the middle of winter. My main coat I have for cold weather has several Layers, and is a little bulky for when I put on a backpack or try to carry other kinds of bags on my shoulder so, I thought i'd look for a lighter jacket, but one that is just as warm. I was SO glad I found this jacket! I ordered an XL because I always like to have an extra sweater and shirt underneath, even with a coat as thick as this. When it arrived, the pattern was just as neat and whimsical as the picture on the website (I got the galaxy print) and the fit was absolutely perfect. I like how it wasn't narrow through the waist area and that the sleeves were roomy and long enough ... I like how it wasn't narrow through the waist area and that the sleeves were roomy and long enough to where they bunched up a little when I wore them, which is what I love. When zipped up, it is still just as roomy. Even better, it has little loops that button so that it can be fit into other TNF coats. I'm eager to see if it will fit into the shell I already have, but if it doesn't, that's no problem because this jacket by itself is enough to be warm during the winter. I love this jacket SO much and can't wait until it gets colder and I am able to wear it!
I love this Jacket, this is the third time I am purchasing it. First black one I wore for many many years was stolen so I wanted to get this again since I got so much use out of it. I have a different color and wanted black which is perfect for me. I have long arms and the Medium fit very well, with some extra length. I am 150lbs, 5'11 and very fit. This jacket is perfect for chilly or cold weather. Love the neck length since it helps with windy conditions. Only thing I don't love is the string in the pockets which are actually there because you can tighten the bottom of the jacket, which is a plus. The strings could have been located within the jacket not the pocket but I'm being picky. I would purchase this again!
This is my third Northface Denali. I am a size 14, 5'5. My old breast cancer Denali is XL. It is tight when I zip it (38DD). E I gave it to my mom and got the new breast cancer one. I ordered an XXL. It's pretty big, on me. The sleeves are a little too long on me. The body is kinda baggy. I pulled the strings to tighten the jacket up. I tried it on with a sweatshirt and it was still bigger. This breast cancer ribbon sells out quick, I'm going to ask my seamstress to take it in a little bit. The jacket is really soft. The hot pink pops on the black. I'm still happy with the jacket, it's just a bigger fit.
Multiple reasons why it's an amazing jacket! When the weather starts to get bipolar and its not exactly freezing cold or boiling hot, I always wish I could find the perfect jacket and this year I did. This jacket is lightweight and incredibly warm. The pockets are great because they have zippers, something I need because I'm always afraid of my things falling out or being an easy pickpocket target.Again since the weather is changing sometimes I'll leave my house with this jacket on because its fairly cold, later in the day when it gets hotter I can take my jacket off and it's not too heavy or bulky to hold in my hands or over my arm, or I can easily fold it and put it in my bag without worrying about it taking up too much space. All in all I LOVE it and it lives ... I hesitated for quite a while before purchasing this jacket because of the price, but I am so glad that I finally purchased one. I originally ordered the Greystone/Greystone heather color combination, but I ended up exchanging it for a smaller size and in black. The Greystone fleece portion was much lighter in color than the fabric on that jacket and not as pictured on the webpage. On the site, the two fabrics looked very close to the same color. Also, I went against the sizing chart on the site and ordered a size larger than recommended by The North Face. That was a big mistake. The jacket was much too large. I called Customer Service and Maria was great! She sent me a shipping label to send the first jacket back and once it was on it's way, she sent me the black ... I called Customer Service and Maria was great! She sent me a shipping label to send the first jacket back and once it was on it's way, she sent me the black one in a size smaller overnight. You just don't find customer service like that very often these days. My black Denali fleece jacket is a perfect fit and the fabric and construction are of the highest quality. It is very warm without the weight or bulk of most jackets. Be advised though that this jacket is meant to be slightly fitted. It is shaped for a woman's body. It is not at all boxy or like a "boyfriend jacket". The fleece is very dense and tightly woven. The cold wind does not get through. I plan to test my jacket to the limits on our first snow day this season....that is if we get one. Overall, this jacket was a great purchase. It should last me for years to come.
