People raved about how divinely moisturizing this was, and I love and appreciate this brand’s affordability. Plus I’m looking for an oil I like more than argan or marula. This did moisturize my skin like no other, I have to admit. You only need the tiniest drop for each part of your face, so this would last a long time. My skin in the morning has never felt softer or smoother, BUT I experienced the telltale sign of skin irritation on my cheeks, so this isn’t for my sensitive skin unfortunately 😭 I wanted to love this so badly, it truly feels like you got a facial; that’s ...Ā MoreI’ll start off by saying this is a naturally bright orange oil and has stained fabrics for some people. Yep, it’s BRIGHT ORANGE. If this puts you off please scroll on. I use this as a thickly applied mask on day 3 of a peel, or immediately after micro needling, and it’s a skin changer. i leave this on for a good couple of hours, and thanks to a video doorbell I don’t have to see anyone during this time. I then wipe off simply with cotton pads slightly dampened with water so a slight residue remains. I then either apply a night moisturiser, or my factor 50 if during the day. Being on the wrong side of 50 :( this product really helps my skin post treatments, it heals quicker, and looks more radiant. My husband loves me enough not to laugh, which is a bonus! Photo is directly after micro needling so my skin is looking a little angry!

Love rosehip oil and this one from The Ordinary is a very good quality for price, IMO. I have sensitive combination skin that gets quite dry and irritated in the colder months, I apply this oil over my night moisturiser as an extra layer of hydration and my skin feels plump in the morning - not tight or dry! I will say a word of warning though - if using before bed you need to let this oil sink in for some time beforehand, I've made the mistake before of using this as the last step of my skincare routine before I get into bed and then find yellow marks on my pillowcase in the morning! I also don't use it during the day as it can leave me looking quite oily. If my skin is feeling particularly dry I will add two small drops into my daytime moisturiser. Effective, but take stain warnings seriously

At full strength, this high-quality oil seems to fade sun and age spots and reduce rough texture, and to generally even out skin tone. My skin feels fresher and plumper. After reading the top positive comment, I began using it with caution. Now, before relaxing in a long bath, I apply it at full strength to my face, neck, and chest. At the end of the bath, I rinse it off with warm running water and proceed with my regular cleansing and moisturizing routine. (If you were wearing makeup or sunscreen, you would want to cleanse that away first, of course.) Sometimes I add a drop to my face moisturizer. My skin is fair to light with yellow undertones, and while diluted sea buckthorn blends in pretty well, in the daytime this is more practical for WFH than going out in ...Ā MoreAt full strength, this high-quality oil seems to fade sun and age spots and reduce rough texture, and to generally even out skin tone. (If you were wearing makeup or sunscreen, you would want to cleanse that away first, of course.) Sometimes I add a drop to my face moisturizer. My skin is fair to light with yellow undertones, and while diluted sea buckthorn blends in pretty well, in the daytime this is more practical for WFH than going out in public. For my legs, I add about four to six drops to enough moisturizer to cover both, and since my legs are darker from sun exposure, the color is fine. But be aware that even blended this can leave traces on a white bed covering. Luckily, orange is one of my favorite colors, so I actually possess orange washcloths, which are now the only ones I use with this product. If you are committed to white or unbleached washcloths, accept the discoloration as inherent to the purpose. For older users, I should note that I am 64 with skin that the dermatologist has pronounced as "doing well," dry with delicate surface crinkling and minimal age spots, and without any cosmetic intervention beyond a simple regimen of gentle cleanser, basic oils or serums (I love The Ordinary's 100% squalane as well), and a heavy-duty nighttime moisturizer, along with devoted sunscreen use since the early 1990s.

Great ingredient for skin
31 May 2023

This sea-buckthorn is a great skin care ingredient and one that should be considered if you're looking for an oil. I use it along side the marula oil from the same brand. Use with caution though - this oil is a bright orange colour and stains anything it touches so don't drop it. I usually use one drop of this along with one drop of marula oil mixed in with my night moisturiser. It can give the skin an orange hue but it fades quickly as the skin absorbs the oil, and I'd recommend putting it on a bit before going to bed as it may stain your pillow case. Overall, it is an oil I'd highly recommend, and at a great price point - it also lasts ages.

Love this stuff!
13 November 2022

I had never heard of this product but it was recommended to me after taking the skincare quiz. After reading the reviews I wasn’t going to buy it as I was worried about the staining, but after reading that buckthorn oil can help treat psoriasis (which I suffer with) I decided to give it a go! It has since transformed my skin, not only does it look soft and dewy, it feels so plump! It has pretty much cleared my facial psoriasis to the point that I rarely (if ever) have to use my prescription steroid creams. I only use one drop in my moisturiser at night & it does stain, but my pillows are a nude colour anyway & it comes straight out in the wash. For the results I get, it’s definitely worth the more frequent pillow case washing!

MAGIC, HOLY GRAIL, OLD WORLD BEST KEPT SECRET

Yes, It’s orange. Oompa Loompa orange. Who cares? This oil is a holy grail item- just don’t use it every day if you can’t stand the color-transfer risks. But if you have acne, irritation/inflammation, dry/cracked/flaking skin, sun burn, radiation burns, fine lines/wrinkles, dullness, loss of elasticity, and/or irritation from chemical masks/exfoliant/treatments, etc (or any combination of the above)…. If you have eczema, psoriasis… You need to try this. I even started putting it on fresh cuts or scabs to help with the healing/anti-scarring process. Marinate your whole face/neck/body in it. What I’ve discovered is that: it just WORKS. It restores my natural skin barrier- my skin just feels healthy. What I’ve discovered is that: it just WORKS. It restores my natural skin barrier- my skin just feels healthy. It HYDRATES, then it PROTECTS - and it doesn’t need help to do it. Its actually GENUINELY obvious to me that it’s limiting hyperpigmentation during the natural healing process, and my skin goes from shell-shocked to calm & soothed when I apply it after AHA + BHA, my granulated retinoids, Lactic Acid treatments, etc. It plumps my skin and lessens the appearance of my ā€œ11ā€ and smile lines. When I get sun burns, I douse my skin in this stuff, because wow it’s rich. As far as ā€œstainingā€ is concerned: yeah, it’ll stain light colored sheets/fabrics sometimes. Just problem solve & use darker colors if that’s an issue for you. It doesn’t ever stain my skin, though, even if I put it on my face straight from the bottle right after a peel. And I’m very fair skinned with freckles and natural red hair. It just sits on my skin as a very vibrant orange film until I wash it off. Understand that the more you apply (especially if undiluted), the more you’ll have to wash off - just like with every single other thing that you have to wash off. It’s a rich oil - of course it’s going to take longer to wash off than a less potent oil (and it’s not transparent, so it’s more obvious that there are trace amts left than with other clear oils. With that said, it’s not like you’re going to sit there for an hour filing your whole face off to remove it lol. If the fabric staining is really that big of an issue, but you’re still curious anyway, I suggest applying it before watching your nightly Netflix/reading/etc. Use it as a mask, then wash it off before bed. But definitely, definitely try it!!!!!!

I have had redness and lumpiness around my eyebrows postmenopausal and nothing has worked, it's an eyesaw because hard to apply brow pencils etc because gets worse. After just a few days looking better. This is my best example as to why I think the colour doesn't have to be scary. Put two drops oh back of hand and rub backs of hands together to spread oil all over each from wrists to finger nails as a mask for hands. It spreads easily and evenly and won't touch the palms, it doesn't drip. It doesn't sit in the lines around knuckles as you would expect instead the colour is completely even and touch dry after 2-3 mins. You can still use hands and fingers ie computer or open doors answer phone without mess. After 20 mins wash off in basin with soap and hands, in my case are soft and hydrated and brighter in tone . No sign of yellowing residue and the same is for face and neck following nighttime regime.I hope this helps those who are concerned about staining. I put a drop of the oil with a little of a gel overnight mask but results were different this was on my neck area, colour yellow and 15 mins later wiped off with tissue because hadn't sunk in, oils and gels don't mix this would have been very messy if I hadn't removed it.I like this product and glad it's brought to us in its unaltered state.

Orange power in a bottle
15 October 2022

This is a fabulous oil that penetrates and seems to strengthen the skin but it should come with a warning: it is very high in something - betacarotene? - that gives it a penetrating orange colour which makes it messy to use. Really messy. BUT. I have used my bottle to top up a couple of other face oils to give them a boost and so far it seems to be working. The colour is diluted so it's manageable and it seems to give the other oils more depth. I love it and I don't know why but I feel like the intense colour gives it more power. A staple from now on. Also, bear in mind the more expensive sea buckthorn oils that don't have this intensity are using a carrier oil and charging nine times the price.

Soothing, plumping and firming - holy grail!
15 August 2022

I have very sensitive skin with rosacea. Sometimes my skin can be looking a bit on the dry and stressed side, to put it mildly. This has been a godsend for those times. I usually mix a few drops to some moisturiser and massage it in well before bed. My skin absolutely loves this stuff. It's one of the few products that makes a shocking difference overnight - I wake up with such smooth and plump skin. And yeah, it's worth the orange face! I don't do anything special to counteract the orange and it hasn't stained my pale yellow sheets. It does get on my pillow case, but I found that it washes out (try at your own risk!). If you're concerned, use it as a mask instead.I'll be rebuying when I run out.
