Good size interior, holds a lot of toast and even a 12 inch pizza pan, which is great! Air frying is addictive; things cook so quickly and crisp so much more evenly than even in my Mini. But I miss a few things from my Mini: the pull loop to make unplugging easier (since there is no ‘on/off’ switch otherwise) didn’t come with this one, and that is annoying. The ‘a bit more’ button was quite handy when toasting or warming different items; there isn’t one on this machine. And I can see how air frying is risky for mess-making, and how challenging that could be for cleanup here; so far parchment is working, but I haven’t tried any homemade recipes yet.The other quirky irritating thing is the darn oven light comes on all the time when you’re using the machine. I can imagine it is either expensive, difficult to change out, or both, knowing Breville. (I had to replace a fuse last year in the Mini due to a known failure point. It was painful.) I keep having to hit the button to turn the light off during cooking, instead of turning it on just when I want it, which would make far more sense. Mini doesn’t do this stuff!!!So, four stars because it’s a good machine, but the one of my dreams would have the features I loved in my Mini, plus a ceramic coating for the interior and the air fryer basket, to make cleaning easier. The enamel trays they include with all these ovens are miserable to clean, don’t release residue easily, so that could also be improved; I’m looking out for a ceramic set that fits. Traditional nonstick stuff for ovens of all kinds tends to disappoint quickly; same w enamel coated ones. And the teflonesque stuff is a health risk at high temps.

Things that take 40 mins in the big oven, like potatoes and carrots take half as long (or less, depending on the size).Nobody was more surprised than I was when this turned out to be such an amazing and indispensable appliance, because I have a graveyard-cabinet full of useless appliances that utterly failed to live up to their labor-saving hype and produce nothing but flavorless boiled food that takes 2 to 6 times longer than a stovetop equivalent (Instant Pot, crock pot, and multi-cooker—I’ve always been mystified as to how anyone finds them useful).My only criticism of this and all countertop ovens is that they’re a nightmare to clean. The inside is riddled with nooks, crannies, ridges, heating elements, holes that are impossible to clean in and around without hours of labor. It’s very hard to twist arms and hands and fingers into an angle that will clean around heating elements, or even see into the recesses while doing so. You can’t even feel your way around the interior with rubber gloves on, so I always end up scrubbing with my bare hands and wearing my hands out. It’s impossible to clean it without saturating the whole interior and electrical elements without getting everything too wet, something that’s discouraged in the instructions. The best I’ve come up with is to coat every surface in a liberal coating of baking soda paste, leave to soak for a couple of hours and then spend what seems like the rest of the day wiping out the baking soda, all the while hoping the electrical and fan elements haven’t been compromised.It would be nice if the removable elements like pans and racks and drip tray could be dishwasher safe, but not one single piece is. The first company that invents a self-cleaning countertop oven, I will buy it—no matter the cost.I can’t live without it any more, but I sure wish it could be easier to clean: either a much smoother interior, easier to reach crannies, a self-cleaning function, and/or dishwasher-safe removable parts.

I discovered the quality of Breville products after using and throwing out several toaster ovens and decided to try the Breville mini smart toaster oven. The first two slices of bread we placed in the Breville mini turned out to be the most perfect toast that we could imagine. From that point on we were sold on Breville. We kept the Mini for many years and never had a problem and the perfection of the toast continued. I now have upgraded to the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer because I wanted the extra features and larger size this toaster oven provides. I called customer service right away explaining I just bought the oven but wanted to cancel my order and upgrade my order to the next model size up. I would understand if I just decided that wasn't for me and wanted the other days later but I wanted to do it immediately after ordering the first oven. Not sure why Customer Service would say just return and reorder and expect me to pay a new price. I am frustrated. And on another note, the door slams shut if you don't hold it all the way. It will cause problems with the door and spring in the future I would think. I mean loud slam! The one I want has a softer close because there is more of a rubber bumper all the way around. Not sure why they don't want to make right my order, but I have spoken with at least 4 or maybe 5 CS reps and they all want the entire story again, and put it in notes then say No you can pay the difference. I can't imagine what happens if you have an issue with the oven after you own it.

I'm glad I did.I rarely use my oven anymore as I use this to bake. I even baked my sourdough in here. Tried moving the unit around so it's on his own breaker with no other appliances plugged in (though we shouldn't have to do this) and it still kept happening. Our previous toaster oven plugged into the same outlet did not do this.On top of this, the aluminum inside the door started wearing out exposing the raw surface, as others have stated in their review. Since the unit is only 6 months old, I finally contacted customer support. So lining is required.I noticed, that when I needed to turn food for the other side, I need to take the tray out and close the door. Then when I put it back in the oven, it doesn’t start reheating again.I can’t complain about the noise, as other people say. The ready sound is normal for me, convection motor starts kind of loud, but goes pretty quiet right away. There’s nothing confusing about the panel light as it has clear color identification of the oven status.I did read instructions before using the oven and found it very straightforward and helpful.So, at this point I am happy with it.

Our $50 toaster finally started to show its age, so we looked through the reviews and came up with this full featured oven because it fit our countertop and match our other appliances. As an example, sourdough bread. It will make it a bit crunchy for buttering, but it will not brown it even at the darkest settings.- The outer shell of the oven turns extremely hot in use. Don’t put anything on it that could melt. Yes, it’s an oven, but a little extra insulation could’ve helped.- It would’ve been nice if the “completed“ alert alarm could be silenced. Not everyone in our house is awake when I eat breakfast.
