Love the book. Bought this for Christmas for my granddaughter. The delivery was terrible. Doordash delivered it without a bag. Set the book in the front porch with the label attached! That was terrible! It was a little childa paperback.. it could have blown away. It should have at least been in a walmart bag!

I love the books story, however, when I received them in a flimsy envelope they were bent and now have white seams on the cover from where the bends were. I suggest using cardboard protection or something to prevent this happening again. Mine were purchased as gifts so needless to say, I am disappointed. In the shipping quality only. Gifts have been given already so no pictures available at this time. Thank you

I first heard of this book like most of the reviews here, from the you tube grama reading it to her baby grandson. My husband and I both laughed so hard, right along with grama. I just had to get this book for my grandkids. I purchased 2, one for my granddaughters in North Carolina Carolina one for my grandsons here in California. Even though we had already seen the video, when the book arrived, I read it outloud, and my husband and I totally cracked up again. A VERY "Feel good" book! I'm going to suggest to my 7 yr old grandson to take this book to school for his teacher to read to his class. I think they'll love it and crack up like we did

I can only imagine Graig Smith's pleasure and shock as his book, THE WONKY DONKEY began flying off shelves everywhere. Like thousands of others, I saw the virile video featuring the hysterically funny Scottish Granny reading it to her wee Grandson. The only thing I could think while watching it was, I HAVE TO HAVE THIS BOOK! Apparently, everyone else who saw the video felt the same way. To Mr. Smith's incredible ethics, he kept his price fair, while others cranked it up to as high as $300. I not only admire his as a man of writing mischief but as a man of morals. GOOD ON YOU CRAIG SMITH! Get the book when you can - I read it to my 4-year-old grandson at least once a day. There is also a video song on YouTube, which we watch after we read the book. I was hoping to use this with children for the rhyming, but the language isnt suitable. Its basically an amusing picture book based on forced rhyme. It was first published in New Zealand where, I assume, the language is used differently (ditto Australia) but it isnt suitable for UK children. Using wonky in the context of a prosthetic leg isnt a good start, then showing a bird carrying his missing eye is fairly horrific for winky. I can only imagine the barrage of questions that would follow this image! Honky-Tonky means nothing to children, so that doesnt work at all. If you have to give in-depth explanations to explain the joke, it falls flat. Lanky is all well and good, but not when youre trying to build self-esteem and avoid labels based on appearance. If you have to give in-depth explanations to explain the joke, it falls flat. Lanky is all well and good, but not when youre trying to build self-esteem and avoid labels based on appearance. They have enough of that to deal with. I know children and adolescents love fart jokes (stinky-dinky) but it would cause so much distraction, it wouldnt be worth it. Hanky-panky is used to describe getting up to mischief, but In the UK, its much more associated with sexual shenanigans, so inappropriate. The same goes for spunky, which may be used in New Zealand to mean good looking, but is not in common use here and is, again, quite sexualised. Shame. Maybe I should write my own.
Got it for my 6 yr old grandson's visit. We read it multiple times each night, in addition to reading it to our church's knitting group and anyone else we could grab. It was a huge hit! I also ordered the e- version for my tablet, plus another book for me so I'll have a copy here when he takes this one home with him. I've already preordered The Dinky Donkey by the same author. Jack can't wait to read it! Highly recommend this whimsical tongue twisting book!
I didn't realize it was soft cover and so thin. For the cost. The first one got folded and creased in the box with other items. It was replaced free of charge which I greatly appreciated but, the shipping package wasn't marked do not fold and my stupid mailman folded the stiff package and stuffed it my mailbox. He couldn't even close the box because it was too big. Thankfully it wasn't raining!! That isn't your fault. It was supposed to be a gift but I don't like giving damaged items. I donated them both.
Got this book for our great grandchildren, as part of their many Christmas presents after seeing the Scottish grandma, reading it to her little grandchild, on U Tube. Hoping our 5 year old will be able to read it to us, now she's doing phonetics at school
Fun name for the book and I get why people like the illustrations and rhymes. However, it starts off making fun of a donkey with a prosthetic leg. Not a snowflake here but would you enjoy this book if your kiddo had a disability? So many other good books out there, I returned this one.
I first tried to buy a copy of this book a couple of years ago when that short video of a Scottish grandmother reading it to her grandson. I could find it no where. Finally, though, I did. I got this one for our 4 year old grandson and his 2 year old brother will like it, too. We've already read it to each other and hooted as we did. Graphics are great, Book well-made and even though we got a paper back one, we hope it lasts into the next generation! Book packed well and shipped quickly.
