I bought this for my husband for his birthday and he loved it. Not only did it satisfy his love of the Bard but also his devotion to jigsaws. It certainly kept him quiet for a few days. The picture references most (though not all) of Shakespeare's plays. It is a most sophisticated way to enjoy a puzzle.

Out of all the 1000 piece jigsaws I've done during lockdown this one was the hardest. Don't get me wrong it was usefully distracting and a challenge, but it required a bit more thought than usual because the scale is 'Shakespearian' and all those Tudor roofs look the same so you have to try each one (and there's millions) before you find one that fits. I'm not normally a jigsaw person but now 'more than ever' it helps to spend a day or so on a pointless task. I've purchased about 1 a week from John Lewis and as they're a bit pricey I've done them all twice on a loop. This is the one I can't face re doing. It gave me a headache. If you do decide to buy, my advice would be to start with the river and the boats and then work your way round. Just cracked open 'Pickering ... MoreOut of all the 1000 piece jigsaws I've done during lockdown this one was the hardest. I have always been partial to jigsaw puzzles but have often found the pictures used to be rather uninspiring. I was really pleased then when my friend told me about this series she has the Jane Austen one and her brother the Charles Dickens design. Luckily I have a puzzle board as this would have taken up much of the dining table otherwise (be warned!). I can safely say that this proved to be one of the most challenging puzzles I have ever done - there are so many small characters and the design itself is pretty intricate! It was very satisfying to complete though and I intend to purchase others from the range. I am particularly keen on acquiring the Sherlock Holmes one (John Lewis please take note!). Oh, and the quality of the pieces is excellent too.

I bought this early in lockdown - it's a very interesting jigsaw as there are MANY characters from Shakespeare's plays to look for. The box includes a poster to show you the finished picture as well as brief explanations of the various characters and plays. It was quite challenging and good fun to see it come together. Definitely recommend - so much so that it's since been loaned to friends.
Puzzles are funny things - they make you slow down, and look carefully for each piece, they end up being a lovely diversion from our often overly busy lives! This one is illustrated really beautifully, with references to Shakespeare's work dotted all through the picture. The colours are vibrant and consistent enough throughout to make it a bit of a challenge. I'm keen to buy another of these puzzles as it was thoroughly enjoyed.
This was the only puzzle left to buy during the lockdown and to be honest I wouldn't have chosen it had there been other puzzles to choose from. I'm so glad it was the only puzzle left as it has been really enjoyable to complete. Bright colours, the pieces fit well and it took a few days as it fairly challenging. It also had a poster inside to refer to. I would highly recommend!
This is a very good quality puzzle, with substantial pieces, which made it a pleasure to do. There is a lot of interest and detail in the picture, with many small people, many areas of green and parts of buildings which looked similar to each other, so it needed a lot of concentration. Although the box only gives a partial image, inside there is a large folded poster of the whole thing, which makes it easy to concentrate on one area at a time. I really enjoyed doing it, and hope that there are other similar jigsaws to follow
If you like Shakespeare, this is the jigsaw for you. You will have fun spotting various different characters from his plays. Any that you are not sure of, no problem as there is a chart included that you can refer to. There is so much detail, I loved it, even though the houses were quite difficult at times. One of the most enjoyable jigsaws I've done.
This is a good quality jigsaw and the pieces fit well together. It is an interesting scene and there were some elements that were easy to pick out and put together. However, towards the end I had to look up each piece on the guide to work out where it went and I didn't enjoy that so much. For that reason I wouldn't do this jigsaw again and that is why I only gave it 4*. On the back of the large picture poster there is a guide to who the main characters are which gave it another interesting edge.
Excellent quality puzzle with well defined pieces. The illustration is fantastic and fun and the accompanying guide means you can then search out all the characters hidden in the scenes. Bright and colourful and one of the best puzzles I have ever seen.
