I bought this bag after researching sleeping bags rated for backcountry winter camping in Alberta. The weight is not ideal for backpacking but at this price definitely not a deal breaker for me. However, I was not prepared for the size of the bag when in the stuff sack, best I could get it was 11 x 17" which meant it filled close to half the volume of my 70L pack, definitely not ideal and I almost returned it. I'm glad I didn't however. Just got back from a trip, -8, sleeping pad/mat combo (R value 5.2), the usual base layers and I had to unzip the bag for a few hours early morning, was too warm. Very happy with the performance. Went to pack the bag away prior to hiking out the next morning and the stuff sack split right down the middle of the material, not even on ... I love this bag. I’ve taken it for a freezing, wet week canoeing in northern Maine. Evening temps scooted down to about 30; freezing rain several nights. The bag — with a liner, longjohns and Thermarest pad — kept me nice and toasty. The bag did begin to get a bit cool at 30, but I’m a cold sleeper and for many folks it would have been just fine. What I like most about this bag is the room: I’m 6’4” tall and fit just right lengthwise and still have room to roll *inside* the bag as well as with it. The bag is a bit heavy and bulky but for canoe camping this isn’t an issue.

I bought the short size bag to lower my pack weight for warmer weather trips. I'm 5'3" and the short is plenty big. The bag has the option to use removable inflatable pad straps. I gave it a test run for a few hours of stargazing in 45F, seems pretty good. I might bring a bag liner. I am planning on using this for a summer trip with some cooler (not freezing) evening temps. You'll want a warmer bag for snow temps.

Paired it with the Trail pro sleeping Pad Regular Wide. Sleeping bag has SynergyLink connectors but had a very hard time connecting it. Wish there was a wider SynergyLink connectors. It almost felt like it would rip from the sleeping bag so I ended up removing it. Other than that it’s amazing, kept warm in below 20 weather. Very happy with my purchase. Highly recommend it
I currently use this bag for winter camping in the desert. The comfort for me is the top sell. The price was also very workable for me. I think the trade off for the prices is the large pack size that comes with the synthetic fill. Despite the size I'm happy to have made this purchase as i know I can rely on it for the comfort and warmth. Eventually I'll replace this bag for myself with something that does compress more and pass this off to my clients which I'll be able to do with full confidence.
I think it is so pretty. I love the the colour scheme. I finally got a chance to use it this past weekend in the mountains. It was a bit confusing experience. The temp at night was probably 45°. I wore a sweater and down vest to bed ( I always do while camping). I wore long johns and 100% wool socks and at first I was toasty but then about 15 mins later my legs got really cold and my feet were freezing. I was really worried because I had no other option but to suck it up. I was freezing. I could feel air from all sides from my legs down. After about 2 or 3 hours I finally decided to put my pants on too ( just standard polyester hiking pants) and I put my jacket at the bottom of my feet and once again felt toasty and could rest for the night.I have no intentions of ... I have used this sleeping bag often since I bought it. There is a nice feel to this bag. It's light and packable for a "long" synthetic fill bag, it's warm, and it is handsome. I would have given it five stars but I have found it to be a bit snug around the chest and shoulders. I'm not an unusually big guy (6'3", 210 lbs.); this bag needs to be roomier. I probably would not fit in this if I were 50 lbs. heavier. Otherwise, so far so good.
First-things-first, I'm allergic to down, so Thermarest's down bags simply aren't an option for me. They look rad, but I can't use them. I grabbed the Saros for my 20-degree do-it-all bag, and so far I've been really satisfied. It's been through a year of use, and so far the fill hasn't packed down, the zippers are still functioning great, and I can pair it with my Proton blanket for those very cold nights. Also, didn't realize it came with the foot pocket, but that thing is rad! If I had to pick one thing I don't care for, it'd be the connectors that wrap around my sleeping pad. They just don't quite fit my pad. I'm 6' tall, and the Regular size just fits me.

Takes up a good chunk of my 70L pack. Tested it out recently in backcountry Kananaskis, temps dropped to around -8, paired with a sleeping pad/mat (R Value 5.2) and wearing base layers, I woke up too hot and had to unzip it for half hour. Overall I really like this bag. I was on the fence about the size and almost returned it but after looking at all the other options, unless you're willing to spend 6/700 bucks, then this is the bag for you. Best I could get the bag in the stuffsack was 12 x 17" - the stuffsack is super cheap quality and split right down the middle of the ... Arrived today and so far so good! The sleeping bag itself seems to be everything I wanted to be and more.Unfortunately, the compression sack it came with could not take being compressed lightly and it ripped at the bottom seam attached to one of the pull straps - and honestly, I didn't even pull it that hard.The silver lining, however, I have a 20L stuff sack (MEC Pack Rat Compression Stuff Sack) that fits snugly and will do for the time being, and is much more sturdy of a bag. For reference, if this happens to you, I would look for something equally as substantial as the sack I referenced above but probably in a 25-30L.Hope this helps someone. Happy camping!
