About six breaths in the speed valve, and then a couple in the regular valve to firm it up and you’re all set. The pad is really comfortable, and the noise others have mentioned isn’t a deal breaker. There is a weird hump by the valve, but I sleep with my head at the other end so I don’t notice. The pad deflates almost immediately and rolls up easily. Fits into the stuff sack with room to spare. I’m so disappointed in this sleeping pad.1) It took REI took a long time to mail this to me, I don’t live close to one so I had to order it. I’m leaving for Nepal soon and I wanted to give this sleeping pad a few nights test run. Now I’m going to have to drive an hour to REI to return it.2) I’m a healthy and fit person and this pad took a lot of effort and lung endurance to get it inflated. Eventually I gave up and used the traditional valve on the side.3) it deflated in the middle of the night and took nearly 20 minutes to re-inflate it. A few hours later it deflated again. Rather losing more sleep, I chose to sleep without it on the bare ground.4) I’ve had two other therm-a-rest sleeping pads, I am a very experienced international traveler and wanted to ... MoreI’m so disappointed in this sleeping pad.1) It took REI took a long time to mail this to me, I don’t live close to one so I had to order it. Excellent Warm Sleeping Pad

Pros: Great warm sleeping pad for camping. The higher R value and reflective insulation combine to make this a super warm pad. You can really feel the warm the reflective baffles make. I've yet to try it out in the summer heat, but it's perfect for fall/winter/spring. It's packs down fairly small (I have the large version). Not quite ultralight, but it's definitely compact and light for what it is.Cons: The only downside is the reflective baffles within the pad make it seem like you're sleeping on a bag of potato chips of you move alot/are a light sleeper. I don't personally find this to be an issue though.

Never Sleep Cold Again
4 February 2019

I have the original All Season Thermarest sleeping pad. I have it paired up with a 15 degree sleeping bag. In any weather down to 7 degrees, I have woken up sweating every time I have used this All Season pad. Comfortable, light weight for it's R value, extremely compact, durable, and with this newer design, much easier to inflate and deflate. Highly recommended to any overnight activity. This newer design is now my second pad. I believe Thermarest still holds the best pads around.

I bought this product about after being tired of using bulky and thin self-inflating foam pads, that dont really keep me off the ground. I am 5 foot 11 and weigh 135 pounds, the regular size pad is perfect for me, the pad is thick enough to keep my boney body comfortable and off the ground since I am a side sleeper. The Speed Valve is not a gimmick, it really helps inflate and deflate the mattress faster, you can then use the small screw valve for adjustment, however there is a small learning curve for the SV.I have recently used this pad on -2 C and -6 C nights with my MEC Draco 0C down sleeping bag and thin merino wool base layer, and slept nice and toasty on the first night and a bit chilly on the second one, but i think i was because my sleeping bag wasn't ... MoreI bought this product about after being tired of using bulky and thin self-inflating foam pads, that dont really keep me off the ground. I decided on this pad for a few reasons. #1 Small pack size #2 Light weight for the R value I wanted # 3 Made in USA # 4 Inflation valveWhen the REI guy showed me the ease of inflation, I was sold! I have gotten plenty of great advice from him in the past. I was disappointed when I got mine home that it didn't inflate as easily as I thought it would. I actually brought it back to get some advice and tips. It was even difficult for the other REI guy inflate initially and he told me he just uses the regular valve to inflate it.My advice is just to take a bit of time to play with it. After several more attempts of learning the inflation technique, I really do love this mattress!! I inflate it fairly quickly, it packs down so small and never lost any air for me. My last trip was at over 10K feet (temps down to low to mid 40s) and I had to open my sleeping bag and take off my socks because I was so warm. Which works for me because I get cold at night and this will definitely work for 4 seasons for me!Overall, I am thrilled that I took the time to learn the inflation technique and I will have this pad for a long time.

Awesome sleeping pad, got the regular wide model and love it. I found the regular width pads to narrow but the regular wide size just right. Went camping in January with temperatures dipping to 5 below and the pad kept me very warm due to the high R value. The speed valve is a cool concept and defiantly helps in inflating the majority of the sleeping pad. You still need to blow it up the rest of the way through the valve but takes much less effort compared to blowing it all up through the twist valve. Deflating is almost instant by unbuckling the speed valve. Ive also used this sleeping pad in my hammock with great success. I've tried other sleeping pads in my hammock before but they never really worked. I've tried other sleeping pads in my hammock before but they never really worked. I would always slide on in the night but with the regular wide model I never slide off. It's a bit on the heavy side apposed to some other thermarest sleeping pads but I've never noticed the extra weight at the end of a hike. All in all it's everything I could want in a sleeping pad. The only issue I've had with it was one night I had it deflate on me. I had to blow it up twice before the morning. Originally I thought that I had a hole in it and I was not the happiest. But turns out I didn't roll over the speed valve enough times. Deflated it and reinflated rolling over the speed valve the proper amount of times and I was set for the next 3 nights camping not having blow it up again. I would defiantly recommend this to everyone.

The only sleeping mat you will need.
8 April 2019

I bought this mat for a couple reasons. I wanted something that would keep me warm in almost all conditions as I hike almost year round. It does that. I basically slept on a block of ice with it and stayed warm. I also wanted something I could deflate and pack up fast. I like to break camp quickly in the morning and it does this very well too. My one complaint is that the mat is kind of loud when moving around on it. It does quiet down a bit as it gets broken in but when your tent mate is moving around a lot you can hear it. There are always trades offs in this world. It's a very comfortable mat overall and the SpeedValve does work pretty well.

unexpected surprise
8 January 2020

I didn't realise when purchasing that Therm-a-Rest had changed to a version where you needed to blow it up yourself. I read now in the description, under method of inflation, that it says 'mouth pump'. I didn't realise this was a different valve than what we have on all our other Therm-a-Rests. So I'm a bit disappointed right from the start but hopeful that the rest of the Therm-a-Rest will be like the other ones we have.

worst outdoor item I ever bought
2 October 2019

The first one I got the valve leaked before I ever used it. The second one got three holes in it right away even though we are very careful with them and a canvas tarp is under them. Then the entire insides came apart and the individual seams let loose so that all the air is in one big bulge at your feet and the rest of you is on the hard ground. A terrible choice to have to depend on when on extended and remote mountain trips.

The All Season Pad is the heaviest in the NeoAir family. But, like the slowest cheetah in the pack, it still blows away everything else out there. It's light enough for backpacking, but adds comfort and warmth for all-season use. A reflective barrier retains heat and a matrix of triangles within the core trap warm air inside their walled cells. Both the reflective barrier and inner cells use lightweight materials that add warmth without compromising its packability. 75-denier polyester top with a tough 70-denier nylon bottom. Triangular Core Matrix construction and reflective ThermaCapture technology provide great comfort, warmth and stability. Fast inflating Speed Valve pulls in surrounding air to amplify your breath, inflating your mattress in â…“ the time of conventional valves. Deflates almost instantly for quick and easy packing. Air only pads have no insulation that can be compromised by moisture, often added when you inflate them by mouth. Includes a stuff sack and repair kit.
