Amazing features, but has a drawback for me

I am going to leave the tags on, test it out indoors and get a feel for how it will work. I am 5'7" and 170lb. I have to extend the waist strap to its max, and that makes the pockets sit way far back for my liking. Taking The waist strap off all together is it my ideal way to carry a backpack of this size, as it causes the base of the pack to swing around while I'm walking.Otherwise this backpack is awesome, which is why I am going to give it a test to feel it out. I may opt for the mens version and see if that will give me a better fit for my size.

Good backpack, hideous rain cover

My first Thule pack, I’m female and bought the male fit as it was the only one available in decent colours. Fits well, however has an annoying tag that says “men’s fit” sewn into the side. Also, the rain cover is a terrible bright blue, so if raining, the look of the bag will be awful. The rain cover should be in the same colours as the bag. Doesn’t make any sense and ruins the bag for wet weather. The many loops you can attach gear/ carabiners to are very handy. Seems of quality build. I wish the rain cover and mens vs women’s fit/ changes/ tags weren’t such an obvious afterthought. If you are a large person over 225lbs the hip straps are not likely to fit, FYI.

I was looking for a bag to just carry stuff. Something simple without a bunch of pockets and gadgets. I use this to carry my stuff for going to the gym or weekends away. Simplistic design, not a bunch of pockets, just a nice wide mouth bag. Comfy on my back and seems to be durable. Lightweight too.Just a great bag

I have the older version of this pack, and can’t say enough good things about it!I bought it initially for my travels to South America, and felt assured knowing no one could/ knew how to get into my bag- the top is very unique!Now- this bag goes EVERYWHERE with me!The shoulder, hip and chest straps are comfortable, even when full to the top. The back piece, which is adjustable, is comfortable, sturdy, and the mesh keeps things cooler. This bag feels a lot larger than others I have owned and been hiking with. I have even been able to carry my my dog in it when she gets tired on our longer hikes. The rain cover is so convenient, although the version I have fits a little bizarre since it doesn’t fully cover the bottom. My only major complaint is that the ... MoreI have the older version of this pack, and can’t say enough good things about it!I bought it initially for my travels to South America, and felt assured knowing no one could/ knew how to get into my bag- the top is very unique!Now- this bag goes EVERYWHERE with me!The shoulder, hip and chest straps are comfortable, even when full to the top. Lightweight and well built. Really nice day hiking pack. I really like the fact that we can adjust the shoulder straps height.

Love this bag, a few tweaks would make it perfect
6 February 2022

I have the first generation of this bag. It is nearly bomb-proof, surprisingly lightweight, and the adjustable frame and good structure makes it comfortable to wear. I use it for overnight backpacking and hut-to-hut hiking where I'm not carrying much, but need more than a daypack typically allows. I also use it for travel, and the occasional on-foot trip to the grocery store. It would be an absolutely perfect bag if I could add an optional/detachable lid (to slightly increase volume for certain activities), and if the side water-bottle pockets were a bit more roomy/stretchier (if the pack is very full, it is difficult to get things in or out of the side pockets).

Ok, so I bought this a little over a month ago to replace a 30L Deuter backpack that I use for just about everything that Ifinally wore out. And I mean everything- backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, winter and summer camping, ice fishing, traveling, hunting, etc, etc. My wife and I just did a 2 week trip to Sweden, Poland and Denmark and although we're in our 60s we only travel with carry-on. Hence, the 30-35L zone as anything bigger IMO risks being flagged for check in. It also means you have to limit what you take for what you need. Regardless, I always take too much and still manage to take it as carry on no problem. Why did I choose this pack? I like the narrow profile, removable waist strap, easy size adjustment, overall simplicity of pack, rain cover. Whether I'm skiing through tight trees or walking down an airplane aisle or don't want airplane staff to notice my bag this thing is great. Bag is a top loader but also has a lower side zip to access packed items. Side pockets are not only good for holding water bottles but tight enough to stuff items into, eg, my cell phone- I'm like everybody else and tend to look at it too much and stuffing it away avoids that. Plenty of room- managed to take clothes for different types of weather, a fancy party in Sweden, bulky gifts, an extra pair of shoes, etc. The shoulder straps are not too extravagant and the waist band with simple pockets is removable- two things I value if I am somehow forced to check the bag in on flights. The bag is simple. I'm just not that big a gear junkie. One big outside pocket that also holds raincover. Pretty darn light at 1 kg. Lots of lashing points that I can use with gear straps.Quibbles? Yes. Back ventilation and load adjustment are pretty rudimentary but adequate. So, yep, I like this thing a lot. Despite quibbles 4 1/2 stars.

Practical and good looking

I needed a day pack to hike with my kids when i need to carry snacks, water and rain coats for all of us. I tried first the 25l version which i thought looked even better than 35l but was a little too small. This one looked a bit big for my needs but turns out the size is not too overwhelming. The selling points for me were the looks (i know, i'm shallow!) - i didn't want the typical hiking backpack with huge waist belt etc. This bag has comfortable waist belt with pockets but it's not thick and can actually be removed when I want the bag to look less "outdoorsy". Also i needed easy access to the inside and this bag has a side opening that works fantastic.I also love the pocket on the shoulder strap though unfortunately it doesnt fit my Samsung note 9. The same pocket in the 25l was bigger which is disappointing.I was worried about the "funky" opening but it actually works fine and is pretty quick to open and close. I imagine it will also come handy if i have more stuff and need to stack an extra jacket under the flap.I hiked once in a medium rain and the bag was just fine even without the rain cover. It's also great that the bottom is completely waterproof - i wasn't worried about placing it on wet rocks. The downsides are really minor for me. Besides the size of the shoulder pocket, i find it a little long, which it was shorter and wider.Even though I wish there was a stir backpack size between 25l and 35l, overall i'm very happy with my purchase. I really like the looks and it meets all my needs when hiking.
