Easy to install but doesn’t take our 2 trek hybrid bikes very well. Second bike which is a medium frame has to be placed on second bar which is rather large and required using strap to its limit. I wouldn’t trust this on a freeway or rough road. If only the holding straps were movable; but that’s probably a different bike rack.

Pros: Extremely easy to install and remove. And when not in use, the compact design means the tow rack can be hidden away in storage. Can take both our bikes out on a trip.Cons: Not all bikes fit the rack properly. Our merida frames dont' fit the rack as intended, but we have managed a work around with the rubber ties on the rack.Despite the fit issue, I would still buy it again.

I would have given the carrier five stars but their was no manual supplied explaining how to adjust the carrier to suit different size “throats” on tow balls. I couldn’t get it onto the first tow ball I tried!I moved the locking brace to its last hole and still couldn’t get it to fit. In desperation I tried another tow ball and, “hey presto”, it went on like a dream…I measured the diameter of the tow balls with a vernier and they were identical. However, I noticed that the “throat” of the first ball was about 2mm greater in diameter. Changed the balls on my tow bar and all is well :)

Straight away, this carrier fits effortlessly to the towball. The adjusting knobs are easy to turn and fittings appear robust. You will need to work out for yourself, how best to attach your number plate to the bike without it flying around and causing scratches.Good, robust and well designed. It's ideal for those without roof racks or who don't want to risk damaging their car paintwork with a boot-mounted carrier.
Really light, easy to install, remove and store in my boot. Secure grip on towball and on bikes. Excellent build quality on arms and rubbers that secure bikes. Even mounts on my 2008 Pajero which has a protruding spare wheel and cover which is fantastic. One minor downside is that release pressure upward is disconcertingly high (ie, it jumps up at you!). This needs re-designing! Probably needs a 5th upper hole on the vertical arms to enable me to adjust the mechanism and reduce the pressure involved. All this aside though - I love it!
I wanted a bike carrier for my campervan but didn’t want one that required fixing to, or hanging on the doors, so I decided on a rack that would attach to a tow-ball. I bought this rack on the strength of previous reviews and was not disappointed. It clamps very firmly to the tow-ball and there is no movement, even with two bikes mounted on it. I also like the fact that it can be padlocked in position if required. However, it is so easy to remove, that I will probably stow it in the vehicle whilst cycling and only use the security feature as the need arises. It should be noted that I will be using standard cycle locks to secure the bikes together and to the rack to help prevent the theft of individual items if left unattended.I highly recommend this product.
First the good - The design of this carrier is fantastic with the way it clamps to the tow ball - it seems very secure. Now the bad - having fitted the carrier I expected adding the bikes to it would be a piece of cake. How wrong was I!! I had two mountain bikes to rake on holiday a two bike carrier seemed to fit the bill. However the design of the carrier did not allow our mountain bikes to fit to the mounting bars. Ladies bikes with a diagonal bar would also not fit. Also when a hybrid bike that did fit the carrier was added, to stop the handle bars hitting the rear windscreen (LR Discovery 4) the carrier had to be adjusted and only a single bike could then be carried. Had this information been provided before purchase a different decision would have been taken - ... MoreFirst the good - The design of this carrier is fantastic with the way it clamps to the tow ball - it seems very secure. Had this information been provided before purchase a different decision would have been taken - possibly purchasing the 4 bike version to accommodate the Disco shape. Also some fittings to support different bike shapes would be great. Hope this help other looking to do the same as me but would prefer greater success! I an having to take my son's bike on holiday and my wife her trainers!
I borrowed a friends tow bar mounted cycle rack and after using it decided I ought to have one of my own. Having looked at what is available I decided to go with what I feel is a trusted manufacturer. I have not been disappointed, the build quality and operation of the product is excellent in my opinion. If you have a tow ball and need to move one or two bicycles around this product is great. It’s quick and easy to fit, it folds up for storage, it’s solidly made, it can be secured with a padlock (not supplied) so no one can easily run off with it, it’s not too expensive for what you get. I did shop around and found that Rutland Cycling was extremely competitive on their pricing and delivery charges. It’s 5 stars from me.
It does what its suppose to. Hold your bike on the back of the car. Its solid in construction. I have a road / time trial compact frame and it does not quite fit level across the two holding rubbers however I use the upright seat stem and rear angle frame and it clips perfectly in place. Its solid more than happy with this hanging off the back on the car. Dont forget if the obscures either the lights or reg plate then you will need a light board and rear plate. Available at Halfords. Happy.
I already own one of these great little racks, I bought one for a friend. I will say though, her bike has a shorter top bar and I had to be creative with putting one arm of the rack on the inside..the only issue really is the bold has a square locking hole is only on one side of the upright and sits proud..Overall I don't think this will be an issue but some modifications to allow the arms to be placed on the inside of the uprights as an option would be beneficial.
