Tiki Cat | Hawaiian Grill Grain Free Ahi Tuna Canned Food - 2.8-oz, Case of 12

I was so impressed with the quality of Bora Bora and my cat ate it all up, fast! Each can has about 6 to 7 cutlets of sardine and it looks delicious and smells flavorful. We also tried the Manana. Being a pate, its sight wasn’t that impressive to me, but it still smelled amazing and had a soft texture that my cat adored. I only wish the flavors were in stock more often.

My cat Dexter went through a phase where he was refusing to eat any of his normal foods. I tried so many new options only to have them all rejected. The vet stressed the importance of making sure I got kitty to eat something soon so I decided to spend the extra money on tikicat hoping it wouldn't be rejected also. It was an instant hit. It became the only food my cat would reliably eat. I highly recommend this food for picky eaters.

i've been trying various pet foods that are low in phosphorus, but not prescription level low, to find one that my cats will eat to try to prevent my cats with stage 1-2 CRF from progressing to stage 3-4, and to keep my cats without CRF from getting it.This is the third taste test after 3 failures. Since this has fish in it, even though it has low phosphorus and meets all 5 of my requirements, i can't make this my cat food. i chose "special meals" because i would be worried about everyday feeding due to mercury exposure.hawaiian grill's numbers: 1.2% phos. DMW, 78% protein DMW, 15% fat DMW; 5% or less carbs DMW; 80 calories.the consistency is sort of like a chunky pate (not sure how to describe it); the color is brown--it doesn't really look like tuna; there isn't much fluid (which is a little worrying, i noticed my cats drinking more water than i liked--water consumption is hard on their kidneys).i was luckier with this taste test than some of the others since this is sold at a local store, so I could return the unopened cans, if necessary (it wasn't).for comparison purposes--my cats used to eat evo turkey/chicken kitten, pate-style wet for years (the one with the purple label). they loved it, but it made them all obese. it gets 64% of its calories from fat, is relatively high calorie (109 for 3 oz), and has a moderately high phosphorus level (1.31). in fact the only good thing was its carb level, at just 4% DMW.they also like fancy feast classic and purina one chicken or turkey pate. fancy feast is what i used to help them lose weight--and it worked beautifully (all are a healthy weight again, achieved with basically no effort, and in less than 6 months). contrary to popular belief fancy feast does not contain by-products, is relatively low calorie (93 for 3 oz), low fat (only 51% of total calories), is low carb, 4%, and is highly palatable--but it has very high phosphorus levels (2.10).they also like purina one chicken or turkey pate--the composition is basically the same as fancy feast but it has less phosphorus, but still too high (2.00 for chicken and 1.71 for turkey).the downside of tiki cat is the price, i estimate it will cost about $200 a month to feed 3-4 cats. for me, this is acceptable, but i realize that it will be a strain on many budgets.i've also tried felidae pure chicken, triumph chicken and liver, and petguard beef and wheat germ,but none of my cats would touch the felidae, only one cat liked the triumph, and 3 cats refused the petguard after 3 days. you can check my reviews of these other foods if you are interested.

Cats refuse to even nibble...

When my two gals were kittens, Tiki Cat food was the very first food I fed them. They both ate it with relish.After about a year, they decided they didn't like it anymore - not one, but both cats. So I stopped buying it for a while. I always use a very wide variety of canned food for my cats, ranging from the "best", down to Fancy Feast, being the "lowest" I will go. I find this is healthier for them, giving them a wide variety of choices with different nutritional values. They will not develop food allergies this way and creates a "less fussy" atmosphere.Anyway, I tried it again about a year ago. I am still a hyper puppy so on my person's day off we go hiking together. I am a hiking, camping, swimming Georgia Mountain dog. Last weekend I went for a hike and when I came off the mountain I was a muddy smelly mess. I loaded up in the car and when we got to grandma and grandpa's they made me take a bath! That's not all. The very next day 30 people came over to play with me! I am not sure how I got so lucky but there were little kids too and they rolled around with me and said I was so handsome. Great for my end of life feline.

I am not the type to write a review on a cat food... but man, this food is really helping my elderly girl (19 years old) in her time of need. I am a technician at a vet clinic and I kept hearing owners talk about this brand and helping with their cat with symptoms of inappetence. I figured I'd give it a try with my old girl. After an exam with a doctor (ALWAYS SEE A VET IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT SOMETHING), she was prescribed multiple medications to help make her comfortable and I was told to offer everything and anything. I bought multiple brands to try. Tiki cat is the only food she is eating! End of life care is always hard but I am happy to see her eating.

I recently to switch shops, as my local ( Mom&Pop) health food store had to close, and thus I went to a larger store that carried Tiki Cat. One of my cats had been suffering a cold, and when I popped the Tiki that I bought, he lit up like it was Christmas. Now, he's a total convert, especially for anything with Mackerel. The other kitty is more a dry food kind of girl, and has usually not taken to wet; She's a total convert as well, especially loving the varieties that come with the little shrimp ( She steals the shrimp from his portion, but he doesn't seem to care...). I had high hopes, but they didn't like it.

This looked really promising, and I really thought that my cats would love it. Unfortunately, they turned up their little noses and barely touched it - even with a broth topping (also Tuna). I might try this again in a smaller can, as they can change their minds daily.

Used to be great

I have purchased this one for a number of years after much trial and error for two cats who have different issues. Suddenly, the last two cases were poor quality. The first case was filled with a lot of water and it was almost slimy. My cats ate it but it looked odd. The second case was just the opposite. The product was dark and like the scrapings of the bottom and dry. Neither cat wanted to eat it. Not sure what happened but now in process of finding something else. Very disapointed.

worth the risk

I started feeding Rad Cat when my 11.5 year old Siamese was diagnosed with diabetes. He needed a low-carbohydrate diet that would help him maintain hydration. The cause of diabetes in his case was a rarely diagnosed disease called acromegaly (pituitary tumor) causing unregulated secretion of growth hormone and insulin resistance. He became dehydrated easily. This food helps him stay hydrated without having to resort to sub-Q fluids (which he resists). Vets will not recommend raw diets due to the increased risk of infection from E.Coli and salmonella bacteria, but if your cat is older and has a serious illness you don't have a lot to lose anyway. This food has helped my cat.
