The inspiration behind the Timberland Earthkeepers 6" Boot is born out of a desire to create an original, outdoor-tested boot with a smaller environmental footprint than other boots may have. These boots are made with one or more major components containing at least 50% recycled PET — the plastic used to make soda bottles. The upper is made with premium, waterproof leather for comfort, durability and abrasion resistance, and has a zoned force distribution footbed that spreads impact shock, creating a pressure-free zone. The Anti-fatigue footbed provides all-day comfort. 100% recycled PET lining and 100% organic cotton laces. Green Rubber (42% recycled rubber) outsole. Removable insole.

I have many styles and brands of boots and wanted to give these a try since being attracted to the aesthetics of it and wanting boot to do work and casual wear in. I did a fair amount of research, looked up reviews on web and on youtube. Many commented they run large so I tried them in a 9.5D and a 10D. The 9.5D felt too short but wide enough, the 10D felt fantastic with plenty of toe box room. (My brannock size is 11D regarding my longest foot). I also have a flatter foot with low instep and these lace up perfectly and give me snug enough heel cup as well with next to zero heel slip when laced for a snug fit. Mind you, I like a snug fitting boot but these feel great snug and with laces loosened to let some air flow in. Worn all day both at home and at work (I do a ton of walking on hard concrete). They feel like the best sneakers would feel with the extra support a boot has along with the look and hard wearing construction. NOTE that these boots aren't rigid like other boots (Red Wing, Wolerine heritage styles, etc.) instead these feel very soft and bend easily (in a good way). I can say so far they feel like they'll hold up great. All the stitching is well thought out and put together with great QC. I have tons of traction and springiness with the insole/outsole choices Timberland made. They look amazing and will continue to develop that much desired 'Patina'. They feel unlike any other boots I've ever tried or owned and are just about perfection in comfort.. And to know that they are partly made from recycled materials and leave a smaller footprint (no pun intended) on our environment is the icing on the cake. Earthkeepers get my personal highest recommendation!

Beautiful, but buy 0.5 size down from your usual EU size!

These boots soft and comfortable. I've gotten used to my steel toe Red Wing work boots which are, of course, stiffer and heavier in order to serve their intended purpose. I wanted a pair of boots that I could wear casually or in a lax office environment (in the winter). That meant getting a boot with a slimmer profile and is lighter on the feet! These boots definitely meet those criteria. These can certainly be paired with a pair of chinos/khakis (which is what's typical in my office) or jeans. Size wise - I've learned to size my shoes and boots by the EU size rather than the US size, as I find the EU size to be more accurate. In US size this means my shoe and boot size varies from 10.5 to 11 (annoying that not every brand's US size is teed up to the same EU size). So I ordered the 44.5 EU model (10.5 US). My Red Wings are a 44.5 EU and 11 in US. My Oboz hiking boots are a 44.5 EU and 11 in US. So as far as I was concerned, going with a 44.5 EarthKeeper would work out (10.5 US). Turns out that was too big! Looks like I'll need to wear a 44 EU for these Timberland boots (maybe for all Timbs?). In retrospect, perhaps I should have known to go down a 0.5 EU size to begin with - given that these are a softer boot with a sort moc toe design. Looks like I'll be returning my 44.5 (10.5) with a pair of 44 (10)! Other than that, I can't complain. These boots look like the ones pictured. Just make sure when you order - go down at least a half size in your US size, if not a full half size down US. In my case, I'm going down a full US size from my usual boots, which translates to going down a 0.5 EU.

I had two pairs of boots. I bought them 12 Years ago at the same time, one light brown and the other dark brown-red. One I presented to a friend after 5 years of use. The other one I still have it. Is a very pleasant shoe. The only problem are the soles. Two years after I purchased I changed the soles in both because they just gone. (I put same still but not from Timberland). I was using and I am using for every day use spring and autumn in city environment. Nothing extreme. The light brown is still in use. I am happy. Is a classy boot and I love it.

Best casual boot out there
9 November 2021

I've owned these boots for three or four years now so take what I say with a grain of salt knowing things may haves changed to newer models. In my opinion these are the best looking boots you can buy and they age really nicely as you continue to wear them. Sure, they scuff and crease and fade but it adds to the look and doesn't impact the integrity of the boot. I would say the comfort is ok; certainly not like a plush sneaker but it's never been an issue unless I go for a long walk on pavement. I will say that this is not a hiking boot or rain or snow or work boot. It's a casual boot. It's very simple with few technical features which is perfect for what I use it for (going to a restaurant or on walk with the dog, casual trips). Decent Quality, Just fit different
18 January 2023

The boot is pretty well constructed, high quality leather. The lace loop on the tongue of both boots ripped within the 6 hours. The stitching failed when tightening the boot. The boots are snug in the ankle and heel, but very loose in the toe bed. I ordered the correct size and they "fit" fine, but my feet swim because of the width of the toe area. heavy socks may help.

Got my first pair in 2010 and bought another in 2018
25 January 2023

Bought my first pair in 2010 after a very unfortunate step into a wintry sludge puddle in NYC. Never again. These became my go-to boots for rainy/snowy days and kept my feet beautifully, wonderfully dry, even in those ankle-deep wintry sludge puddles. I beat up my first pair pretty good, so in 2018 I bought a second pair. Finally got rid of the first pair last year, but in 2023 the second pair is still in great shape to wear to the office or out to dinner. Take care of them (water repellant, don't leave them out in the rain etc.) and they'll last forever. In terms of comfort, they're solid. I can wear them around all day with no problem, but if you're planning on doing a lot of hiking I'd recommend maybe getting an insole insert for some additional inner arch ... MoreBought my first pair in 2010 after a very unfortunate step into a wintry sludge puddle in NYC. If you wear them with thin socks they might feel a smidge roomy, but with thicker socks (eg Bombas or Stance) they're fine. I love these boots enough to write a review 5 years after buying my latest pair. Timberland, please never stop making high quality products.

Great Style and Comfort. Greenwashing Practices.

I always got compliments with these more lifestyle shoes. I partly purchased them as well as their title, Earthkeepers, as well as the recycled content they use would imply that they are environmentally conscious and produced boots. As the soles wore thin I looked into resoling them and every local place turned me down and told me they could not be resoled. Also, Timberland has no resoling program, nor can you buy new soles from them. Beyond using more environmentally sustainable products, resoling a boot or shoe is the best thing you can do to extend the life of a boot and keep the waste out of the landfills. It would be like having to replace a car every time you needed new tires. This term in the industry is called Greenwashing where companies bank on putting a green label on their products but behind the scenes have dishonorable business practices. This boot did teach me to look for a boot with a Goodyear Welt so you can have it for life no mater if the laces are not made of recycled plastic because having one boot for 40 years is more sustainable than purchasing a Timberland boot that last for only two years.

Misleading Colors
9 December 2022

I ordered a pair of the Original II in Full-Grain Rust. They looked pretty close to the website color. They were a mile too large in my normal size and I decided I liked the lighter, more two-tone look of the more expensive Original. I returned the Rust Original II and ordered a smaller sized Medium Brown Nubuck Original. The box did correctly say Medium Brown Nubuck but they were EXACTLY the same color and leather as the Rust Original II. Very disappointed that the Med Brown Nubuck looks nothing like the pictures. So beware. Also, might as well order the cheaper Original II as they are the same thing!!

My favorite all-purpose Timberland boot
1 December 2021

I've been wearing the Earthkeepers for the last eight years non-stop. They're extremely sturdy. I've literally worn every single pair through the sole (which takes about 2 years and I wear them five days a week) and I've never had a single issue with separation or stitching. I always have a replacement pair under my bed ready to go once my current pair reaches their end. They look dope with casual wear and are also easily dressed up with a button-down shirt. I get compliments in the crosswalk with this pair once a week. I only wish they sold more pairs in the lighter brown just so I had a little variety. Love these though and they look good as they age and become more rugged. My favorite Timberland boot by far.

Will not buy these again!!!!!
9 October 2021

Bought in July from Dillard's. By September, the little tab on the tongue of my left boot came unstitched. The leather on the toe box of my right boot is beginning to separate. I have worn these boots at most 7 times. The toe box material wrinkles like a shirt (not quality leather). The rest of the boot has a nice quality leather. Just that one part seems to be selected from the pleather pile. They look like two different pair of boots. For this price, quality control should be better. The photos should speak. I've attached a photo of the left boot toe box for reference.
