I've actually purchased at least two of these watches every year for a long time. I give them to friends who appreciate the simple things that are functional tool for living. When I travel to other countries I always bring a few of these as gifts. A good, simple watch is a universally appreciated thing. A few days ago I traded my Camper watch for a movie ticket at a cinema. Great film, so it was worth it.I just bought another one on-line and was able to pick it up at a Walmart store soon after. This is a classic Timex analog watch with a real numbered face, no digital goofiness here! I like the safari look, when I put it on it revives my inner Indiana Jones persona, and I can better face the day, on-location working on motion pictures.I kinda wish it had less ... MoreI've actually purchased at least two of these watches every year for a long time. Timex "improves" to many designs that should be left alone. Most people that buy the Camper watch would prefer that it stay the same and not change for decades. If I end up winning a big lottery someday, I'll still wear my Timex Camper watch. If you think I'm nuts, then why do Warren Buffett and others still wear watches that are less than $100? Because it's about telling time, not being a fashionista egomaniac. I bought this because my previous watch needed to be replaced. The overall quality is excellent, and I'm happy with the band material and style of the watch. The watch does produce a audible tick if you listen for it or if there is little ambient noise, but certainly not a deal breaker. The backlight is very bright and illuminates the watch face perfectly, and as an added benefit the hands themselves glow in the dark. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to someone else looking for a good buy.

This is my second watch of this model I have purchased. I wear it daily and I am not careful with how I care for it. It gets hard use and continues to work flawlessly. Love the indiglo feature for middle of the night time checks while on backpacking trips. The band is showing wear after five years. Cheaper to buy a new watch than a new band.

durable, keeps good time, smart styling-appropriate casual accessory with almost all clothes, lights up in the dark. I've been wearing Timex Expedition watches for about 20 years.
I like the look of the watch, it's not so thick that it looks gaudy on my wrist. The bezel has some kind of different angle above the numbers, which makes it look cloudy. It shows in the photo too... It has an expansion band which is just a bit large for me so I'll have to remove a link. As with all the recent Timex watches, the second hand makes quite a bit of noise.
Looks good and the light weight makes it comfortable to wear. Wanted a watch where the dial was not so large and obtrusive, was analog and not digital and one that was just a plain simple watch. Metal case watches seem to be so weighty and large that they rotate on my wrist and if I try to tighten the band to prevent that it gets too tight and uncomfortable on the wrist. This watch is just what I wanted.
I'm used to having a watch on at all times and was concerned I would mess my other watches up working in construction. I bought this watch thinking it wouldn't last long. I have now had this watch for a little over 5 years and it has become my most used watch. From fishing, to sports, yard work and everything in between. Even through all that abuse it has held up great (the face is a little scratched up but its to be expected after all its been through).
Seems like the older I get (60) the more I like the simple things in life. Maybe it's because they remind me of a simpler time or maybe it's because most times simple is better. This isn't a fancy watch but it is ruggedly handsome. It's lightweight, the band is comfortable and the face is easy to see in any light. It keeps excellent time and you don't have to worry about messing it up like you would a more expensive watch. For me it's the perfect choice. Thanks Timex
You can pay, well pay whatever you like for a wrist watch, don't bother. For less than 30 the Timex expedition is stunning, it's an absolutely brilliant little watch. I read a magazine article not long ago that listed the 'words best watches', the prices started a 6,000 what utter nonsense. The 'Expedition' should have been up there with them. OK why? Firstly it's accurate, this is my second in 15 years, simply because the case was showing signs of wear and tear on my first, I'm an archaeologist and gave it a a real beating over the years. Secondly I found the accuracy to be better than 10 seconds a year, I can live with that! Finally the back illuminated dial is so good it serves as a miniature torch, let alone letting you see the time in the dark, far better than any luminous hands (which it has anyway). Get the right model and the winder is shrouded (important for outdoor work where the winder can snag). And did I mention the price.....downside? yes I had to change the battery after five years or so, did it myself, an expensive job, the battery cost me nearly a quid. And no I don't have any connection with Timex!
I just bought the Camper model today. I have had several of the Timex Expeditions over the years and I always go back to them for a few reasons: They are 1) practically indestructible, 2) very readable, 3) analog, and 4) price. I've dropped mine numerous times on concrete floors and have even lost the sporty dial on one of them when it was accidentally ripped off as it got caught in a chain-link fence. I have continued to swim with it in that condition for the entire summer. You can't beat these watches. I have never needed to replace the battery, either. Basically, I wear them to the point that they look like they've been through war and I just need to say goodbye.I swim regularly, so I prefer a strap that is not leather. Basically, I wear them to the point that they look like they've been through war and I just need to say goodbye.I swim regularly, so I prefer a strap that is not leather. I'm not sure how this strap will fare, but it says "water resistant leather" on the inside. The outer part is a nylon fabric. It has a buckle, which i prefer also, as it never gets stuck like Velcro tends to do on clothes or other fabric things. BTW, there are plenty of holes to adjust to any size wrist, so you could actually buy this for a youngster.Hour, minute and second hands glow in the dark (second hand has a small circle at the tip that glows). The crown/stem has a push feature that lights the face of the watch so you can see it in the dark or in low light. There is a day of the month counter which can be set by pulling the stem out 1/2 way. Additionally, the numbers on the face include smaller military-time numbers inside to indicate 13 to 24 hours, for quick reference. The Expedition is an all-round easy watch to handle and look at. I think this Camper model is a very light-weight model compared to the others I've had before... I believe it's because the front casing seems to be made with plastic and only the back casing is stainless steel. The strap actually feels heavier than the watch itself. If you like a heavier feel, you might not like this model.Lastly, the Camper is not a big watch. But the numbers on the face are large enough to read easily and the medium size/lighter weight might be a plus for those who don't like the huge men's watches on the market these days. It's likely best worn for work & sports, which is what it's intended for. It is sporty-looking, with a rounded crystal and rounded-off overall shape, so there are no edges to get caught into anything. The brown and green colors w/ antique white face of this model makes it very attractive for wearing outdoors.
