Not only is this an awesome watch⌚ it also sounds cool when you put your ear close to your wrist. You can hear every second of it. It's of of the best field watches I have worn. I wore a Timex expedition indiglo mechanical of over a year. I'm very happy with the quality of the watches. I just made the change from using battery powered watches to the automatic selfwinding. Hopefully it will save me some energy and keep me where I got to be at the right place at the right time. Thank you Timex for this wonderful piece of clockwork!!!

I've always loved Timex watches, but more of the lower cost models. I love the domed crystal of the Mark 1, Indiglo of the Easy Reader, and the rugged looks of the Expedition watches. When I saw this model, I did a double take. This is the almost perfect field watch. The ONLY extremely minor thing I would ask for would be better lume. But let's be realistic, in most situations, you could just charge it or light it up. Otherwise, is a 4.9 star watch. You'll be VERY hard pressed to find an automatic field watch with these specs and features at this price point. My pet peeve is a field watch with 30 meter water resistance, yet most field watches are limited that way (Hamilton, Marathon, etc.). Come on...That violates the spirit of a field watch! I might want to swim ... MoreI've always loved Timex watches, but more of the lower cost models. Come on...That violates the spirit of a field watch! I might want to swim with my watch and be able to keep track of time in the pool, at the beach, jet skiing, on a boat, hot tub, etc. I also love the sweep of an automatic watch's second hand as opposed to the misaligned second hand ticks on most quartz watches. Timex knocked out out of the park with this watch. It's replaced my Hamilton Field Khaki as my daily watch! Way to go Timex!!!

I have a lot of watches, and I had a lot over the years that I sold. Maybe 100 in total. This one is one of my favorites, and I had everything from Sinn to Omega. Titanium case is finished superbly, and it’s light. The dial is flawless and interesting with a bit of texture. The hands are well-proportioned and legible, and minute and second hands reach the markers. The lume lasts all night — no issues there. Sapphire crystal is wonderful. Now, the case back graphic and crown enamel logo do not line up like they do in the product photos, but I’m not too worried about that. I have the two James Brand limited versions of this watch and it’s the same case there. Again, you’re not paying $3,500 but a tenth of that. As far as the movement, I got lucky. It’s chronometer accurate on the wrist at 1 second variation per 24 hours and 4-5 second fast when left face-up on the nightstand. The rotor is a tad noisy when it spins, but you don’t notice after a day. The strap is quite good too — can’t complain really. You can always get a NATO band with titanium hardware online to mix it up. Get the watch and you’ll be pleased, guaranteed. Now I want one with a yellow dial; come on, Timex! :)

So far after 2 1/2 weeks of owning this watch, I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Titanium case, sapphire glass on face and back. Screw down crown and 200 meters of water resistance. Automatic/mechanical movement with hacking second hand. And so far after setting the time precisely with time.gov, from weekend to weekend second hand is fast by maybe 4 seconds with this particular watch. Not to say that will not change after continuous use but that’s good time keeping. The lime is good and the leather strap is adequate and comfortable to wear but I can see a more durable band could have been added. I do like the quick release of theband though. Final thoughts are, this watch can probably last a life time or two. When i saw this new offering from Timex I was immediately intrigued with the design. I have collected watches for 20+ years and only had one older Timex piece passed down from my grandfather. I was a little nervous about purchasing it but the specs looked incredible. I went ahead and purchased it and have been very satisfied with the purchase. Well made, great movement and a great overall watch. Fits well on my wrist very comfortable for an everday watch and extreamly thin and light for an automatic. The design is elegant (beautiful leather strap) yet has and great quality as a outdoor watch. I think you can dress it up or dress it down by adding different straps. I purchased a silicone strap and uaed it on a hike recently. Really worked out well. Nice job Timex i ... MoreWhen i saw this new offering from Timex I was immediately intrigued with the design. This watch has features usually only found at a much higher price point. Titanium case, sapphire for the crystal and display case-back, screw-down crown with 200m water resistance, with hacking and hand winding. The fit and finish on the case and dial are great, and the light weight makes it extremely comfortable despite it being a larger case size. My only criticisms are that the rotor can be a little loud, but not noticeable while wearing it. The lume on the hands and indices is not very strong and fades pretty quickly. I love the matte look of the leather strap, but it feel very light, and it creases immediately when you first try it on. But these are very minor issues, and this is one of the better options for the price out there.
Why the date, but not the day? I look at my watch not only when I need to know the time. I look at it just becouse I like it. I need all the reasons possible to look at it. Why if I somehow don't know the day, I got to look in my phone or somewhere else? A watch without the date and day, is an incomplete watch. Date and day are in "Time dept", so they should be available inside that 40mm space in all watches. Is not cool to have just the date or not having it at all. Not having date and day, is a good reason to not buy a watch, having them is just positive. And the crown. The will to buy a watch just increases when a screw-down-crown is present. This feature should be in all watches. I've seen old watches, and all of them have the same problem, rust and dirt ... MoreWhy the date, but not the day? This feature should be in all watches. I've seen old watches, and all of them have the same problem, rust and dirt inside, which only comes thru the crown area. That's why most people buy thick and chunky diver watches, not becouse they all dive and do water sports, is becouse of the screw-down-crown. Nobody want water or debree in a "Marlin" or in a simple quartz. So easy - date, day, screw-down-crown, on all of them. Who ever pay 50, 100, 500$, will pay 20 more for those features added.
I purchased this watch with some trepidation, there were several bits of information omitted on the online listing. The big thing was the movement not being listed, but I was pleased to see that this was a hacking Miyota eight series movement. When it arrived, the movement didn’t feel particularly quality, when hand-winding it felt clunky & basic, but the hacking second hand was really stable which is not necessarily guaranteed with a miyota eight series.I really enjoyed how light the watch fell on the wrist and the textured dial was a really nice touch. I liked the handset more than I thought I would, stubby ends of the minute and hour hands usually annoy me, but they’ve worked quite well with these tapering ones. It was a disappointment that the second hand was not lumed, I think most people would want this feature in a field watch. The lume is bright when charged, but it does disappear relatively quickly. The prominently raised sapphire crystal was a bit of a worry for daily wear, but it has actually held up much better than I expected . The case has developed some very light marks, which is entirely to be expected with titanium, but I would stay away from this watch if you want it to look pristine forever.I wasn’t a massive fan of the strap, but that’s more about personal taste. It is a quality strap and does look smart.I stuck this in my basket before buying it and timex send a pretty generous discount voucher code via email; worth a try if you can be bothered to wait. I think the discount brought it down to a price I was broadly happy to pay, I think the retail price is a little high for what you get.
It took me several days to buy this because of erroneous reviews on line that said this watch could not be hacked. Once it was clear that this was not true, I placed my order. The description should have said this, since this is not clear and a deal breaker for some, including me. Additionally, this watch allows hand winding, again not stated in description.I really love this watch. It has an understated simplicity that makes it just right for the field or in a social situation. The weight is as others have stated very light. I wear many large diver watches and the lightness of this Timex is startling, thanks to the titanium case. The band has been maligned in several reviews, but while not great it is fine. The buckle having matching titanium makes for a nice combo on this watch. That said, the near universal 20mm lug width makes this watch easy to play with other bands. Every strap from my collection seems to look great on this watch, again because of the simple design and neutral color. My watch is about 7 to 10 seconds fast per day. Every three or four days, I pull the stem out and using my atomic wall clock wait for the true time to match my watch and push the stem back. A slightly fast watch makes these corrections easy.I have zero buyer's remorse from this purchase.
The watch met my expectations and overall, I am very happy with the product. I am a bit concerned that the vegan strap will not last with heavy use as it is already showing signs of wear after a few days of use. However, since I've gotten the watch, it is receiving more wrist time than my other watches from other major brands that cost more. I love that I can wear the watch without concern for scratching or damaging it. The build quality is there and while the finishing may not be on par with the a certain other field watch, I do feel that it's close and of better value.
