Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue 3.785L

(6,405 reviews)

From Franklin of USA, described as an APP (Advanced Proprietary Polymer), Titebond III has been formulated as a dedicated wood glue to give you the ease of application of aliphatic/PVAs and the water resistance of polyurethane glues. Making an exceptionally strong bond on wood-to-wood joints, it has longer open time and higher viscosity than conventional PVAs and will maintain integrity at lower application temperatures. All of which makes for easier and less fraught assembly procedures. Polyurethane glue has undoubted flexibility of use and massive strength but is a very persistent adhesive, difficult to clean up from equipment and particularly hands. Titebond III has been designed to give you the strength of wood-to-wood bonds without the problems. It cleans up with water whilst wet, sands off without softening when fully cured, is unaffected by finishes, solvent and heat and is mildew resistant. It is suitable for interior and exterior use. Please shake bottle well before use. Titebond III Ultimate wood glue has been independently tested for lead, cadmium and other metals under ASTM F963 and 16 CFR 1303 (total lead content). These are the testing methods specified for toy safety under the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. It has also reviewed by an independent toxicologist and conforms to ASTM D4236 for art and craft materials.

This is the first time of using this wood glue and it seems to be holding well but, time will tell. Easy to use but can be a little runny, presumably because of the hot weather. The use at the moment is to glue together timbers measuring 45mm by 70mm by 1800mm to produce a wood bench work top 70mm thick by 1200mm wide so, i am using a reasonable amount of the glue. Would recommend the product and, the supplier. Good price and good delivery time.

Excellent as expected

Watched comparison videos on YouTube etc, and this was coming out on top in most.Used it on the dowells for my oak skirting, residue wipes off easily, and after sanding there is no trace of glue. The nozzle is a bit iffy. I take it off and clean it after I've finished with it. Apart from that I'd highly recommend it!!

I have been using Titebond III for many years, and have never had a joint fail due to the glue. I used it when I constructed an oak rockinghorse from 26 separate blocks a few years ago - all joints needed to be very strong and perfect. Only a couple of critical joints were supplemented with dowels or screws. I also use it for external joinery, where it has never let me down. It also has a very long shelf life - my workshop fluctuates from a few degrees centigrade to about 30 and the glue is still usable several years after purchase.

Messy but it works
30 December 2019

I wanted a 1 inch think MDF spoil board for my CNC machine. Yes, sure, easy enough. BUT, I needed 10' x 5' size, which is not so easy to find. I found it, but then shipping, pick-up, or etc. was going to cost more than the MDF...Sourcing 3/4 inch MDF in 10' x 5' was easier, suppliers were closer, so delivery was less costly. But 3/4 inch was too thin.Enter Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue. I secured one sheet of 3/4 inch MDF to my CNC, then, using almost a full gallon of this stuff, laminated a second sheet to the first. If you're bonding Maple, it would show, but if you're bonding Walnut, you'd never see it.

My go-to waterproof wood glue --
9 February 2021

I've tried many other wood glues for outdoor projects and find no comparison to Ultimate's superior performance. The bonding is definitely waterproof, as I've used it on garden pond projects where the wood is in direct contact with the ground -- year around. However, I cannot comment on submersion issues. Both work time and clamp times are longer than most wood glues, but bonding is great. To ensure a permanent joint for outdoor use, I always use fasteners as a backup. It can be painted, but does not take stain. Thus, wiping away glue from joints is a must. If I need a longer work time and/or waterproof guaranty with any project, such as tabletop glueing, this is my go-to adhesive. Cleanup is easy with dish soap and warm water. I purchase larger quantities of this glue to fill smaller containers for controlled use and handy storage. I have found that the shelf life in a sealed container can be in excess of 2 years, before it starts to develop a skin. If that happens, discard it to guaranty quality performance.

Sticky position really....
3 February 2022

I recently purchased this glue based purely on the blurb that goes with it. Sort of waterproof, strong, quick to set etc etc.... The purchase was made in the dead of Winter, so, the lowest common factor was the ambient temperature. My workshop is unheated, and despite the mild current weather, it did fall, or hover around the minimum required. Despite that, I carried on, and surprisingly, if left alone long enough, it set without any problem. For that I was well pleased, easy to apply, spread, wipe off residual amounts and so on. All in all, it is working brilliantly, nothing has fallen apart yet, and I think it is doing the job well.

Superb glue - my go-to glue these days.
6 February 2021

Love this glue, particularly gluing darker woods as it dries up darker. It sets up with just a very slight hint of "give" to the glue - not crystal hard like other varieties. This means seasonal wood movement is less likely to break the glue. It is so much stronger than the wood fibers around it, I feel reasonably safe gluing up large picture frames (6" cuts) with the 45-degree ends butt-glued.Open time isn't terribly long, but long enough. I haven't actually run into but 1 lamination project that the open time was suspect. That was laminating what would become a 30" circle. I used a Titebond "long open time" product, but it's yellow glue, and cures brittle. It will likely go bad in the bottle before I use much of it again. Temperature dependant. Doesn't dry clear.

Used in unheated garage in the UK in summer to laminate some well prepared pine 3 x 2s for a work bench. Nice consistency, easy to use, good open time and inital grab, easy to clean up and little to no creep. The bottle cap/nozzle is superbly designed for easy flow and does not block. This is the best glue nozzle design I've ever used by a long chalk. So it's fantastic right? Well no. Initial results seemed good but under close inspection it does not dry clear. It dries brown. Not really visible to the untrained eye but not really good enough for laminations on furniture where finish is everything. Also despite being kept clamped for at least 16 hours, I got a very slight bit of de-lamination (an inch or so) at the ends in a couple of spots. Blame my poor lamination ... MoreUsed in unheated garage in the UK in summer to laminate some well prepared pine 3 x 2s for a work bench. Also despite being kept clamped for at least 16 hours, I got a very slight bit of de-lamination (an inch or so) at the ends in a couple of spots. Blame my poor lamination technique if you will but the delaminations have crept another inch after this wood was left in my cold, damp garage over autumn and winter. I don't think this glue is even as waterproof as standard pva to be honest. Now here's the killer, when I tried to use this glue in my garage in autumn it would not tack or stick at all. It just turned to a white powder. It seems it's only of use to people working in heated workshops for wood that will never be subject to low temperature, dampness or humidity. So despite it's initial promise, I won't be buying it again or, indeed, using the lite or so I have left. Back to pva or onto Cascamite for me I'm afraid.

The actual color and truth about TITEBOND lll
31 October 2020

The two pictures I posted are of the 6x6 top rail , of my worn faded old house deck. The middle of the 6x6 shows the cracked open wood from years of sun rain and harsh weather. The top of the 6x6 in the same pictures , shows where I filled (thus repairing)the same type cracked open wood places , with Titebond lll Ultimate Wood Glue. It dries to a light to medium brown color (like woods natural color), even though the glue in the bottle looks to be a whitish light tan color from the factory. The color in my pictures gives a false color(when dry) for you to see because of the cheap camera I am shooting my pictures with. This glue is stronger than the wood itself (proven by independent tests) , and I dont expect to ever have to redo these same imperfections ever again ... MoreThe two pictures I posted are of the 6x6 top rail , of my worn faded old house deck. This glue is stronger than the wood itself (proven by independent tests) , and I dont expect to ever have to redo these same imperfections ever again , and this Titebond lll Ultimate is totally water proof. I took these pictures after 3 full days of Hurricane type rains.... And with the Thompson Tinted Wood Sealer I purchased from Walmart earlier this year , I expect to have my top deck rails restored quickly and inexpensively , and for the repairs I made with this Titebond lll to blend in with the natural wood tint .... I recently also rebuilt the inside braces of an acoustic guitar with Titebond Wood Glue. Titebond ll and lll are recommended by expert guitar builders as one the best wood glues in the world. I have saved a ton of money , along with getting the best service and guarantee in the business, offered by Walmart themselves , on every thing they stock. I do home my buying from Walmart and delivery to my home is fast and dependable by Walmarts FEDEX delivery folks. And free delivery over any 35 dollar or more purchase. I do my own work on my country home , and anything I need that Walmart offers, I always buy from them. Walmart offers the best service, prices and no questions warranty. And hey, get home delivery for the same price as visiting the store, so why waste your own gas, and risk getting the Covid 19 infection.

What I always use
31 January 2023

This is my go-to all purpose wood glue. I do enough outdoor glue-ups that I don't bother with having interior glue and just a bit of this, and this is far more permanent than Titebond II, so I just use this for all my glue-ups. It will thicken with age, so I try to agitate it regularly once opened, but it'll last 2-3 years if stored in mild temps (50-70 degrees). Good stuff. #sweepstakes
