Toddy Cold Brew Coffee Maker System
The Toddy Cold Brew System is designed to make coffeehouse-calibre coffee, which can be served hot or ice cold. The traditional hot brewing method creates a higher level of acidity in coffee, which can be difficult for coffee connoisseurs who have a sensitive stomach. In 1964, Todd Simpson, a chemical engineering graduate, developed and patented this cold brewing system. It uses regular coffee beans and yields a superior tasting cup of steaming hot coffee; acidity levels are reduced by an amazing 67% compared to traditional hot brew methods. The coffee that is produced is bold, yet super smooth. The Toddy Cold Brew System is also great for brewing tea, which can be served hot or as iced tea. The system includes a brew chamber with handle, a glass decanter with lid, two reusable filters, a stopper, and a silicone brew chamber cover. Instructions and a recipe booklet are also included. Note that the filters should be replaced after 10-12 uses, or after 3 months.

I first encountered cold brew coffee while visiting a friend's family at Lake George. They warned me that I wasn't going to believe how smooth it was, and they were right! I had to learn how to make it for myself, so my friend's mother pointed me towards this cold brew system.Admittedly, I was hesitant going into it, since I only began drinking coffee recently and barely know how to use a drip pot, but it turned out to be super easy! The included instructions are clear and thorough and include several recipes, which I definitely didn't expect. The proportions of water and beans they recommend have been spot on. My first two brews have turned out spectacularly, and I have set up a third tonight. It's recommended to hand clean the apparatus, so that's what I have ... MoreI first encountered cold brew coffee while visiting a friend's family at Lake George. It's not nearly as messy as cleaning my mom's French press, so it's not a big deal even though the system is large and a bit unwieldy. If you are curious about the world of cold brew coffee, I highly recommend this product.

Introduced to the Toddy by a work friend-so glad I bought it. Very user friendly. I've been enjoying delicious cold brew for the last few days. And what a smart functional design that the glass decanter also comes with a airtight lid so you can directly store in your fridge for two weeks. Highly recommend

The toddy cold brew system has been an excellent purchase. It is a high quality system that is easy to use, convenient and makes great coffee. I brew a batch up on the weekend and it lasts me the rest of the week. I had been brewing in jars and filtering at the end but the toddy is so much more convenient and its design makes it easy to clean which is a big plus. Could not recommend enough!

This is my 3rd toddy brew system. Usually leaks develop around the cork hole. The new cork design with a lip may help. I also like the cover included instead of covering with a plate. Don't know that the paper filters are essential. Fast delivery and best price.
First, let me preface my remarks by stating that I am very new to the process of making cold brew coffee. I am pleased with this product; and, the directions that came with it explained the process in detail. All my questions were answered, so there was no guesswork. I only have two minor quibbles. First, I wish the glass carafe had a slightly more "pinched" neck because it would be easier for me to grip it when holding it to pour the concentrate. On the other hand, the wider neck makes it easier get your hand in it to wash it. Second, there is no lid for the top (plastic) brewing container. I want to have it covered while I brew coffee overnight, so I improvised my own lid (the bottom "bowl" from a Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers frozen meal). I want to have it covered while I brew coffee overnight, so I improvised my own lid (the bottom "bowl" from a Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers frozen meal). You do need to use a COARSE ground bean. I am not a fan of Starbucks coffee/beans. I am still experimenting with which dark roast coffee bean I prefer, but the "concentrate concept" is so versatile and smooth. It allows me to dilute it to make iced coffee/tea in hot weather, or hot coffee/tea in cooler weather. Also, I add Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk (plus ice) to the undiluted dark roast concentrate and have a good imitation of Vietnamese Iced Coffee which I drink in place of a dessert if I want something sweet.
We love this system! We are black coffee drinkers so it really is perfect for us. When we go away for a holiday we make a batch up and take the concentrated brew to mix with hot (or cold) water as needed. Cost effect system which we love. We bought one for my sister and brother-in-law and they don't use their stovetop percolator any more because they also love it that much too!
I love it. My first pot was Odin Blend, and it was awesome. However, it seems almost wasteful to use 12 ounces for what ends up being only 24 cups of coffee, albeit the best ever. I will admit that I haven't ground-brewed coffee in over 20 years, but I could have sworn that 1 pound lasted for more than that.Oh, be sure that I WILL be making more. It's just that it'll be more for niche than full time.
I love my Toddy. Since I started making cold brew I kept running out of it and moved to this size. It's a great product, I love using it, I enjoy the brewing process and I know that it will serve me well. Ordering and delivering of the product was seamless and a great experience overall.
Toddy recommends about 5 lbs of ground coffee, and a whole lot of water, but it makes a TON of cold brew.Following the recipe I ended up with just over 10 L of concentrate, for 20L of cold brew. It was plenty for serving 160 patrons at an event. I can't see this ever being useful at the residential level, but for a cafe or roaster looking to offer a large quantity of cold brew, it's a great option.Very easy to use, the lift seemed to work great. My only complaint is the expense of the filters. They are some of the priciest filters I've ever seen, and not very tough, mine ripped slightly at the top while preparing for the ground coffee.
I am using this 4 cup on an induction hob. I have owned about half a dozen other Bialletis including 2 Moka induction and a 10 cup Musa but none of them behave like this one.I think the design must be flawed and perhaps there is too much air space in the tank. Anyway you have to use very high heat to get sufficient pressure up to get the coffee flowing. This is accompanied by a lot of noise and escaping steam (from the top). You have to watch it and then back off the heat once it starts flowing. It is nowhere near as pleasant to use as my other induction compatible ones.Am very tempted to try the 4 cup Venus but suspect it may have the same behaviour.Would not recommend 4 cup Musa for induction. 10 cup is fine.
