Comfortable but sole pattern is a design flaw

The pattern on the bottom of the shoe causes cracks at the ball of the foot. I only find out there are cracks when it rains and my socks end up wet because the water seeps through. I have purchased 2 pairs in the last year thinking maybe the cracks in the first pair were a fluke. Nope! Happened even faster with the second pair. I love these shoes but can't afford to buy a new pair every quarter and feel that they should last longer. Just a design flaw.

These have been my wear with everything shoe for over 10 years - I love how comfortable, basic, and reliable they are. So when I bought a new pair to replace my workout ones, I was sad to find them so stiff, especially against the back of my ankle. I wore them to take my dog on a walk, and after going around one block I had blisters on each ankle. I ended up folding the backs down and turning then into slides just for the sake of my poor blisters. Obviously I can't return them for something else now, so I just hope I can wear them down into being much more soft and flexible.

It literally made me feel like one of Cinderella's bad sisters trying to fit into her cute little glass shoe. But when I finally managed to force them on I looked up some opinions on the shoes tightness and decided to keep them and persevere hoping that they would stretch enough to fit my sausage feet. Got lumpy/knot like feeling on second wear.
18 August 2022

They were comfortable until I felt a knot like feeling it m both shoes upon wearing them the second time. The left is more in the middle and right more on the outside near big toe. I'm not sure how or why that happened. I kept thinking something was in my shoe, and after looking and acting crazy, I realized it was the shoes. I'm thinking the last pair like this wasn't this brand, so I'll try the other guys. My last two pair, which I'm thinking now was a different brand, lasted a long time and were very comfortable, they just got damaged at work.

I love my old Toms. The new ones not so much
4 September 2022

I have flannel Toms from a few seasons ago...maybe longer. They're like slippers. I've even worn them to weddings for the dancing (I don't look as elegant as I would like, but I can only torture my feet so much. Most recently, I bought the simple canvas Toms and some cute lace ones. As I tried on each pair, I couldn't get them off fast enough. The shoes fabrics are now harsh and unforgiving, nothing like the flannel ones. I don't know how people can wear them-I'm sure they need to be "broken in" but 1 minute with them on I was in pain.

I wanted the old, original, canvas Toms.
8 October 2022

I'm apparently had to convince. Kept hoping when I ordered original canvas Toms they would be like the old kind. Softer, more flexible, and narrower. After laundering my last three pairs they're more flexible (no longer stiff), but still wide. Planning another run through the wash and hoping. I think this is an example of "improving " something when the original was perfect. The colors are nice, though.

My go to casual shoe
10 April 2023

I've been buying Toms for years now. Comfy. Easy to slip on and off. Huge choice of colours to compliment every outfit. I have slim feet and they don't bag or slip. My husband is also a fan and has wide feet the fabric is so giving even he finds them comfy. Absolutely love the company ethos and that they give back to society. Unusual in this age of corporate greed. Will of course continue to buy more!

Not what they used to be
16 October 2022

This would have been my fifth pair of black canvas Toms but they are definitely not the same as the first four. The fabric is stiff and uncomfortable and the shoes are tight. Every other pair has been perfect from the first day but when I wore these, I came home with a blister on the top(!) of one foot and a bleeding heel on the other. I am so, so disappointed and I will certainly never buy these shoes again.I still have two pairs of the old version in different colours but I would have loved to have black again. I was such a loyal Toms customer until now, so it really is sad.

Rough fit
7 June 2023

I had purchased a pair of Alpargata loafers at a brick and mortar store and lived them because they were so comfortable. I was hesitant to buy another pair online (because you never know). Unfortunately, the canvas shoe felt a little tighter than the others I bought and was cutting into the top of my foot. The 'canvas' felt more like burlap . However, I couldn't return it because I missed the return deadline. The other two Alpargatas I bought with this pair are a perfect fit and comfort level

TOMS are not what they used to be
8 April 2023

I've had many pairs of TOMS over the last 13 years and this is the first pair I've ever had to break in. Out of the box, the canvas was very stiff. The backs immediately rubbed my heels and the stitching scratched the top of my feet. I've been wearing them for a week now and they're getting more comfortable but they're still stiffer than my old ones. My feet also get hot in them. Very disappointed that the quality has changed so much. I really wanted them so I'm hoping they're eventually as comfortable as the old TOMS.
