Tony Hawk S Pro Skater 1 2 Xbox One

This game takes me back to when I was just a young teen and Tony Hawk was the big fish of that era. In 99 when he did the first 900 in the X games comp.Note* I bought this game when it was on sale for 20$.Just like the original but with some minor tweaks to the story progression and fresh coat of paint.Spoiler: You have to earn all stat points playing both games. Also a minor bug with stats will occur. As you progress, the original game gave you full stats per game. THIS refresh...you will notice a notification that a stat point is available when its actually not. Even if you are capped out from acquiring and playing both. Now that I've unlocked all the levels, basically 100% in both games the stat notification has finally gone away.

That said, the best thing was watching other people play the game on YouTube just to learn some of the mechanics.Once you understand the basics, you can begin chaining together combos while working toward completing the objectives in each skate park. These involve getting various collectibles and performing specific tricks. Completing objectives unlocks additional parks. Each round only lasts 2 minutes, so while experienced players may be able to complete a lot of objectives in a single go, the game is designed to focus on a "one more try" arcade-style gameplay loop. I found it quite addictive.If you just can't get a grasp of the controls, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 includes mods in the menu which you can use to toggle different assists on and off. Using this, you can prevent yourself from ever "bailing" (falling off your board) and you can give yourself perfect balance in a variety of situations. While these modifiers disable certain trophies, they still let you progress through the game, and you can deactivate them as you become more comfortable with the controls and combos.The game looks exceptionally nice. I love the fact that Vicarious Visions bothered to make Tony Hawk look like he does now instead of how he did in his late-20s/early-30s when the games were first releasing. The soundtrack is also excellent, featuring a wide array of licensed music which is returning from the original releases of the games, plus a bunch of new tracks.Accepting the steep learning curve, I would definitely suggest picking this game up. Others can probably give more details about how elements from later games were incorporated into the first two here. I can't speak to that. What I can say is that as a person who always had a passing interest in the series but never actually tried one of the games, this was an awesome starting point and it wound up being a lot of fun once I learned how to do the various moves.

I played the series on PSX/PS2, from THPS1 through Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, with countless hours put in to each of the titles (but especially with the first four in the series). The gameplay/trick set is roughly equivalent to THPS 3 (including flatland tricks, reverts, etc), and the skater roster borrows from that game as well (including Rodney Mullen, for example). The music from the first two games are largely intact as well, with some cool new songs thrown in.The feel of the gameplay doesn't seem to be copied 1:1 from any of the other THPS games, which makes me think it might have been a rebuild on some newer engine.
