So, I was strolling around The Fresh Market.. having mommy time ans buying a secret stash of fancy snacks and it wasn't long before I stiffed my way to the chocolate section. I will admit, I'm a sucker for packaging so the uniqueness caught my eye. I purched one of each bc this is mommys stash so... 💅 lol Now I should mention I'm very picky wirh my chocolate. My favorite has always been the OG Hershey bar. I always go back to it. The price tag on these had me a tab annoyed at first but it's actually huge, it tastes divine and has a beautiful mission so it's worth every penny. Love the funky shapes you break them into. I have yet to have one that I didn't absolutely obsess over. I hated chocolate mixed with nuts or crispies UNTIL NOW! I'm obsessed. The milk ... Just like another customer here, I was introduced to the popping aspect of these through Godiva’s “Pop Chocolates” in 2005. At first the idea seams weird, then you try them…! They are so strangely addictive that I have few words to express how delightful that I find these!I brought a few bars in to work as there are a couple of my co-workers who know Tony’s chocolates though not these… after explaining that one must put a piece into your mouth and let it dissolve in order for the “magic” to happen I watched as the smiles appeared. One colleague actually twitched visibly every time the chocolate popped. At first I thought he disliked it as he said nothing until the last bit of chocolate had dissolved in his mouth then he exclaimed “wow! That is amazing”,. He went on ... He went on to say how much he loved how the creamy white chocolate mixed with raspberries was enhanced by the effervescence with the occasional larger “pop” of the bar. Neither of us could come up with the right words to describe the whole thing only that it all came together to make a very uniquely enjoyable experience.Another winner for Tony Chocolonely!

If you don’t read the whole description you will either be surprised or disappointed. I was very disappointed. The crunchy caramel is just like little pieces of toffee. It’s literally just a salty milk chocolate bar with small pieces of toffee spread out in this. Getting a health bar seems like a better alternative to this. This chocolate bar is very overpriced for what you get in my opinion. I do not see myself ever getting chocolate from this brand again. Why would it say caramel and then just have pieces of toffee in it? It just doesn’t make sense. I wish I could return it!

I purchased this bar after receiving the candy cane one as a free sample. It is extremely good. I was impressed by the smooth, melty texture of the candy cane sample, and this is no exception. There's the perfect balance of sweet and salty in this bar. It does run on the sweet side overall. Will definitely repurchase, as the texture is incomparable. Not cheap on the almonds or the salt. Every bite has almond in it.
I really dislike this so called chocolate. Personally I wouldn't call it chocolate at all. The overwhelming taste is sugar. Too many other ingredients and in some of these bars sugar is the first ingredient and also more added further down the list. Just a not to being chocolate. For me the only redeeming feature is that the bars contain fairly traded cocoa -but not much in the bar. Just clever marketing and a poor product. There are way better chocolate bars such as Montezuma, which actually contain chocolate in decent quantities.Sugar, Dried Whole Milk, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Mass, 9% Biscuit (Wheat Flour, Sugar, Butter (Milk), Glucose Syrup, Skimmed Milk Powder, Dextrose, Rising Agent (Ammonium Carbonates), Salt, Whole Milk Powder, Emulsifier (Lecithins)), 6% ... For holiday 2005, Godiva released limited edition "Pop Chocolates". They were my absolute obsession. I have thought of them often for the past 17 years. (Chocoholics are what we are!) There were 2 flavors and one was white chcolate raspberry!! This bar is BETTER! It surpassed my expectations. I am a chocolate snob. I import my chocolate from Harrods UK (artisan Belgian) and from Netherlands. This white chocolate is as good as any Belgian I have had. I would guess they are using Callebaut white chocolate as the base. The raspberries are amazing and the "fizz" is just right. It is not overwhelming like the Pop Rocks you may have had as a child. It is a subtle sensation that sounds odd but really elevates the sensory experience for me.
I've been meaning to try this chocolate to see what tall the fuss is about and I don't get it. It's very sweet and sticky/greasy, a bit like American candy chocolate or maybe Yorkie bar.The different sized chunks do my head in too. I admire the ethics but saying that it doesn't make sense for the chocolate to be divided equally is the wonkiest bit of self-flagellating virtue signalling that I've ever seen on a product. If this is the case, then I guess Tony's is taking the largest chunk of the profits as they have their name on the largest piece. So that's hardly ethical.
This is the latest Tony's chocolate I have tried, attracted by their ethical statement and practices. The chocolate itself is very, very sweet, quite nice in really small doses but overwhelming to me in larger portions. And there's the problem: the chocolate is very difficult to portion out. I understand that the division of the thick slab of chocolate into uneven pieces carries a message, but it is really hard to break off the individual pieces, and there is the bit with the logo on it that is large and needs to be shoved into the mouth whole if one doesn't want to risk one's teeth. All of this detracts from what should be a treat. I ended up using a knife, but pieces flew everywhere. I am not sure how someone with arthritis or a child would manage.
Taste: 10/10 yumminess. I'm definitely in favor of a less sweet milk chocolate so this hit perfectly in my taste pallete. What docked off the one star was the perforation (can I call them perforations?). Usually chocolate bars are divided into rectangles. For this, it was a unique, irregular protioning design. I'm all in favor for creativity and new ideas, however I'm someone who likes to refrigerate my chocolate for the ultimate CRONCH. But with this chocolate, it's hard to snap off in the indents while cold. If you don't mind eating your Kit Kat without breaking the pieces apart or like those chocolate bars that don't even have a perforation, you might not have an issue with this. Still, worth sacrificing my ocd needs for the flavor.
It feels like opening a Wonka bar to look for a golden ticket. The entire chocolate experience is meant to bring awareness to a social cause. The chocolate bar's unique shaped pieces are creative. Without giving it away, there is an entire geographic/cultural/sociology lesson within the wrapper. You get to support a good cause all while enjoying yummy chocolate. As for the chocolate, it is addictive. Very fine quality. Well made. Curiously interesting. I do wish they would make it vegan, or at least source dairy from a humane/responsible source. Cows awesomely provide milk for these amazing chocolate bars.
