Used this model 41462 for the first time today. 1st malfunction was that the "Fill Oil Here" sticker was pointing 180* from where it should have been. See Picture attached. Obviously not to difficult to figure out but still not a good start to the assembly of the mower fresh out of the box. The rest of the assembly was without any issues. Yes, it did fire up on the first pull and ran well. Initially noticed grass being distributed on the mower deck in bagging mode. Checked the seals on the grass catcher and all seemed to be good. When I finished cutting, I had as much grass on the mower deck that I had in the grass catcher. I also noticed that air and occasionally some debris is pushed out of the front opening where the "Vortex" plate is. It also seems like it was never "Field Tested" for Performance and Function. Last Toro Recycler (16 years Old) was a much better product. 2 Star overall Rating for this one at this time.

Bought this about 18 months ago. Right away I feared it would not last and I was right. Developed a “chatter” sound after the first couple uses that I suspected was the transmission. Turns out it was, at the very least. First use this year it did not want to turn on. Changed batteries which seemed to fix it but larger battery still worked later amd would not start later with the smaller battery. Now after 2nd use of the year the transmission will not disengage. Makes it extremely difficult to mow. Rear flap was first thing to fall, apart last year. Best thing I can say about this mower is it’s quiet If I could return it I would. Very disappointed. This mower is not up to Toro standards of the past. Wish I hadn’t given away my gas powered personal pace mower that ... MoreBought this about 18 months ago. Up to 20 hours on it so far, I operate it commerically. Absolutely awesome. The only downside is that you need to wait for the lawn to dry, this mower's grass outlet jams up immediately on wet lawn (small outlet). Most mowers are useless in the wet anyway. The individual height adjusters on all four wheels are a pain, but not a show stopper. The bag needs to be washed after every use otherwise all the holes in the material clog up and it no longer allows air through when catching clippings, that will also cause the mower to clog. The paint under the deck is already wearing, didn't take long, but just make sure to wash after every use. Plenty of parts for this thing, I have a spare carb, 6 odd air filters, spark plugs, even a pull start cord. She's a bit heavy for ... MoreUp to 20 hours on it so far, I operate it commerically. Bag is huge, nearly can mow twice as long as a 50L. Starts first time every pull. Just remember to do an oil change after the first 5 hours and every 20 hours after that, the engine will last forever. The engine could have been a bit more powerful - I would have paid more for that. Wide deck, this has actually nearly halved the amount of time I spend on client lawns. It's ferrari red, everyone comments on the mower and the pefect cut it provides. Best mower I have owned so far. Great value.

That was a huge mistake! It was the worst mower I have ever bought. So I returned it the same day. After that terrible experience I was determined to find a mower that had better reviews. This mower wasn’t rated too bad so I thought I would give it a try. Well, it has been a dream to use so far. Even though it cost about a quarter more than the Wa••••t one it was well worth it. It starts on the first or second pull and the speed control adjustment control is very comfortable to use and works really well. I was so happy at how smooth it operates and how much easier the RWD control works than any previous brand of mower I have used. On other brands of RWD mowers I have used trying to pull the mower backwards was a real struggle, not with the way this one is designed. I could of jumped for joy when I found out how easy this one was! The only problem I have with the mower is that it doesn’t come with the side chute. You have to register your mower and it says it will take about 3-4 weeks to get here. When I mowed my grass without the chute it did bog down because the grass was so thick that I kept having to tilt the front up to try clearing the grass out. I can’t wait to get the chute and try it again. If I need to change my review after that I will. But as of right now I don’t regret spending more for a mower that works 1000% better than the Wa••••t one.

We purchased this Toro lawn mower to replace one we've had for over 19 yrs! I wanted to make sure it had the same/similar features like the rear bagger, pace control, mulching/recycler and rear wheel drive. I used it for the 2nd time yesterday and just LOVE it. I really like the pace control because it allows you to go as fast or slow as you'd like. It feels a little lighter than our old one and it makes it easy to maneuver well on turns. I really like the new Vortex technology which allows the increased air flow to give you an even better cut and provide even smaller pieces when mulched. This allows more to fit in the bag and you don't have to empty as often. I also love the design of the bag and opening because it's very easy to empty. I bought this to replace another Toro that is 15 years old. I had this delivered to me from my local Ace Hardware store. They had everything assembled and oil was in the crankcase. I had to adjust the handle but otherwise all it needed was gas and it was ready to use. Buying it from Ace was a very nice experience. It starts from cold on the second pull. Runs very well but seems to be a little louder than my old Toro. It mulches and bags very well, better than my old one. The cut is very even. It has not stalled out mowing thick heavy grass yet, so the engine appears to have enough power. However, it does not come with a side discharge, to get a side discharge kit you have to request it when you register the machine with Toro. However, it does not come with a side discharge, to get a side discharge kit you have to request it when you register the machine with Toro. There is no slot on the deck for a side discharge chute so I imagine it must mount from the rear of the machine. I am still awaiting for the side discharge kit to arrive so I cannot evaluate it at this time. I prefer using the side discharge when the grass gets very tall, which sometimes happens after periods of heavy rain, so not having it is kind of a big deal to me.They claim that the Briggs&Stratton engine never needs an oil change, just keep an eye on the oil level and top it off when needed. I suggest you do some research on that before buying into it. I'm going to change the oil per usual. The owners manual for both the mower and the engine consists mostly of drawings and few words. Words with drawings can be very helpful but drawings with no or few words takes longer to figure out. I wish they would rethink that. It's a pretty machine and overall it works very well. Overall, I'm happy with it and would buy it again. But still waiting for my side discharge kit.........
I like the Personal Pace system, I’ve had it on my old Toro for 15 years. This mower provides a very even cut on Mulch and Bagging. I can’t evaluate the side discharge yet because I have not received the side discharge chute yet (it’s been 3 weeks). The mower handles fine. They claim the engine oil never needs changing, just to top it off. I’m going to be changing it per usual, oil is an engines life blood. There is no side discharge slot in the deck, the side discharge chute attaches in the rear, like the bag. You must register the mower with Toro in order to request a side discharge chute. It would have been so much easier if they had just included it. There is no washout port. So, 4 stars instead of 5 because of the side discharge issue and for the manuals. In spite of those flaws I still recommend this mower.
This is my 4th Personal Pace Toro mower, and overall, I have been satisfied. To start, I live in Fla, so typically mow about half acre once per week, relatively flat, and do not bag. A few glitches to report - with prior mowers, the rear wheel gears and gear on drive shaft wore out sooner than I expected. I replaced and kept mowing, I'm hoping this latest one, purchased in July, 2022, has better drive engineering. I have had one issue - the trailing shield (a rubber flap that drags on the back to prevent cuttings from flying up to the operator) split on both ends. Toro Customer Service did mail a replacement in a few days, but with a snippy comment "blaming" me for not knowing how to operate - they even included another operators manual. Toro Customer Service did mail a replacement in a few days, but with a snippy comment "blaming" me for not knowing how to operate - they even included another operators manual. The exact comment related to if this was a common/known issue was "It is not common when used correctly and we're confident the replacement will last for you". I have been mowing grass with a self propelled push mower for many years, and am confident I know how to operate a mower! This comment reduced my rating from 4 stars to 3.
This is my third Toro Personal pace mower, with each having lasted 7- 8 years. This mower doesn't have my last one's side discharge opening [I'm still waiting on my side discharge chute promised during my registration process], nor the blade stop feature-allowing for easier start and keeps engine running while dumping bag, etc, and lastly no hose connection for top deck water flush/cleaning. However, the increased engine power [159 to 163cc] and vortex intake do appear to create an improved mulching process, even in heavier lawn growth. Also, the loss of the blade stop feature has noticeably reduced the mower's weight, making it much easier to maneuver and start [since it stops if changing out the bag]. Also, the loss of the blade stop feature has noticeably reduced the mower's weight, making it much easier to maneuver and start [since it stops if changing out the bag]. As for the water hose connection, I noticed around year 6-7 the deck was beginning to show the signs of rust from the water use at this connection point. As for the side discharge ability, I cannot comment on their new rear side-discharge chute design yet, since I still do not have it to use [a must when falling behind on mowing and the grass is too tall/thick to mulch with single pass]. Overall, this is a strong performer that still exhibits the "I want to cut grass" performance I've grown to expect in Toro's Personal Pace mower. The improved steering wheel design improves the already nice gripe with its insulation from engine vibration, and responsive self-drive speeds. The larger sized rear drive wheels and front wheels and new tread design appear to reduce "trenching" when on moist lawn sod and have improved turning/handling too. I would recommend this style mower and suggest you not purchase the lower powered versions. The engine noise is muffled well and gas consumption is also good [I still can mow all by yard areas in about 2ish hours with under a single fill]. Why 4 of 5, the loss of side discharge design and blade stop ability [although the resulting weight loss is a positive]
