To say I am pleased, happy, content… would be such an understatement here. This thing is a beast. Only downside is that even empty they are a bit heavy. Otherwise it is built so well. IP65 waterproof rating. Bottom box on wheels can take up to 250lbs of weight. I like the extending handle is detachable from the primary box, it has metal reinforcement the accessory slat wall rail on the corners is awesome. Handle is super sturdy, latch to open it is not about to break, trays inside are nice and useful, and the way each section locks to the next does not leave me wondering if it latched. This is just a super well thought out design that will come in handy for years to come!

TLDR: Good stuff, great features, love that its black, can open/close/mount/unmount one handed (decent accessibility), rolling chest handle has some wobble but can easily be removed for transport! (take that Packout), concerns over mounting mechanism durability but not so much it would keep me from buying it again. Would buy again over my Packout depending on my needs.__________________________________I have kept this review to Stacktech in general as most of my thoughts cover the entire product line. For background I have been using Milwaukee Packout gear since 2018, utilizing them for construction tools, telecom tools, and IT equipment. I have used other storage systems lightly so most of my comparisons will be to Packout since it's what I have the most experience with.I bought Stacktech for AV gear (cameras, lenses, cables, SDI equipment, rigging, etc.) mostly because it stands out less than other solutions (you know, it's not bright red or orange) but it has really surprised me. I think this is a great solution when stacked up against Packout.Pros:It's not a flashy color like Packout or the Klien Modbox. It rides the line perfectly of looking lowkey without looking cheap. The rolling toolbox handle can be removed quickly and easily for transport! The plastics feel durable and are well molded. You can open them one handed and remove them from the stack one handed (the release lever is spring loaded). It also stays unlocked until you set it back on the stack, so you don't have to slide it on, you just set it back down and it clicks on. This is great for accessibility. (The rolling box handle can be lowered one handed without too much fuss but raising it one handed is more difficult albeit possible)The top is dished so you can work off the top without stuff rolling off or getting stuck down in the mounting cleats (a problem I have with Packout). The corner mounting solution is genius, I cut open the long tool holder and added Velcro so I could put whatever I want in it. I just wish they sold the mounting mechanism in a DIY friendly format so I could make my own tool/equipment mounts.Potential CONs:The mounting mechanism is more complicated than Packout, I haven't had any issues, but I am keeping this in mind when thinking about durability/longevity. I certainly hope that they thoroughly tested the main mechanism and any issues with this are covered under the limited lifetime warranty. The mounting mechanism also doesn't have the mounting surface area like Packout does, so we will see if there are any issues with things breaking or coming undone from drops, falls, transport, use over the years, etc.The rolling chest handle is wobbly when lifted. The looseness is where the tubes meet each other and not with the mechanism that allows the handle to be removed. I would gladly take this trade off and be able to remove the handle, but it does feel a bit cheap with how loose it is.The molding design/thickness of the plastic means you don't have quite as much space in the boxes as Packout, but it's not drastically different.

So far, so good. The units are pretty solid (the plastic is 3.80mm thick), not as thick as Milwaukee's, but they've got metal reinforcement, even on the lids (check out the pics). All the boxes have sealed lids with gaskets, but let's see how long those last.Stacking and unstacking is a breeze compared to Milwaukee's; these just slide in and out super easily. The locking mechanism is spring-loaded, front and back, and you can actually service them since there are screws and a metal plate around the mechanism. The bottom box with wheels feels just as tough as Milwaukee's and being able to remove the arm easily is a nice to have. The extra size on the organizer is nice, Ive been able to consolidate multple drawers into it.Definitely looking forward to the units with ... MoreSo far, so good. The large box makes a nice size add on to the base unit for larger items. The included tray is a nice touch that could be removed if unwanted. I am a little concerned with how well organized I can keep the items in the tray while the whole stack is being moved but I may just be restricted to storing larger items in this area. The carrying handles (two on the short sides, and one big one on the front) seem to be strong and sturdy and have a nice feel in the hand even with weight in the box.The latching mechanism is great and is super easy to operate both when latching and unlatching to other StackTech system items. This box works well as a stand alone piece on a shelf too that offers a clean look for all of the random tools. It will be nice when all of the accessories start coming out for this system next year to make this system even more versatile.
The Toughbuilt StackTech Large Toolbox is part of a modular tool box system consisting of rolling tool boxes, tool boxes, crates, organizers, and accessories aimed toward tradespeople for a convenient way to transport tools to, and around jobsites. This is a fairly new and competitive market for tool storage. I have been impressed with all of the Toughbuilt tools that I have used so far, so I was excited to get the opportunity to test their offering. The large toolbox overall feels sturdy. It has a roomy interior, sized similar to other large toolboxes on the market. It has a removable tray that can be placed on either side of the toolbox to hold smaller items, or can be removed for extra space. The toolbox has a weight capacity of 100 lbs. It has a removable tray that can be placed on either side of the toolbox to hold smaller items, or can be removed for extra space. The toolbox has a weight capacity of 100 lbs. The lid has a gasket to seal out water and moisture and the toolbox has an IP65 waterproof rating. It has a large, single latch in the center of the lid, and the box has side handles for lifting, as well as a front mounted handle to allow carrying. The lid has the ability to be secured with a padlock through holes on each side of the lid. There are rails located on the 4 corners of the toolbox to accept an array of accessories. The toolbox is stackable with other toolboxes, organizers, and crates. The locking mechanism secures the bottom of the toolbox to the lid of the unit below with 4 clips that automatically engage when the toolbox is stacked on another one. To disengage, the slide lever on the front of the box is pushed to the unlock position, where it will stay until the box is lifted up. While this system feels secure, I am curious how well it will hold up over time. The toolbox is covered by Toughbuilt's limited lifetime warranty, so hopefully this will never be an issue. The Stack Tech system looks promising. It is newly released as of October of 2023, so just the basic toolboxes, crates, and organizers are on the shelves now. The flyer inside of the box shows a variety of additional toolboxes, tool bags, mounting options, coolers, rail mount accessories, and transport options coming in 2024 that will make Stack Tech a very useful modular toolbox system.
Reviewed Packout and other systems, but went with StackTech and no regrets. Love the durability, convenience, look and competitive price. The side and front handles are great, all folding into an efficient form factor without as much wasted space as Packout. The flat top also adds utility. And the single front clasp is easy to use one-handed, and shuts reliably (except if you overfill the box beyond the top). It locks securely to other units (I've loaded it and shook it hard without it disconnecting). It also has a small metal ring in the back useful for tying this down or connecting to bungies. This particular tool box system has a lot to offer for both home owners and contractors in the field. This particular large tool box has a tray on the inside that slide from side to side. The plastic is sturdy and should take the abuse of the jobsite. the box has a handle on each side for easy carrying and loading. the box also has a significant snap-lock that i believe will keep the cover closed and tight. The box automatically locks onto the unit below ( in a multiple tool box setup) and appears to be a solid connection to the box below. the box can be locked using a padlock and there are a number of other accessories available that can be mounted on the accessory rails located at the corner of the tool box. Overall this is a great toolbox system with many options.
Just received my Toughbuilt StackTech 3-piece storage system, and wow I’m impressed. The quality is top and it’s rugged enough for all types of job sites. It’s water rated ip65, which is very comforting to know, because I’m always working outside. The simple way they stack, click and lock together is simple yet very secure. The latch to open each storage system is easy and solid. The bottom rolling tool box which comes with a tray, easily fits many of my tools. It has a built in telescoping handle that is removable. The rubber wheels are rugged and easily maneuver over different surfaces. The large tool box that goes on top, is perfect size and comes with a removable tray. It’s future proof, with a whole line of accessories that adapt to it in a stackable way, and along the side of its accessory rail. I certainly plan to continue to build upon this amazing storage system.
I was pretty excited when I ordered the Toughbuilt StackTech toolbox as this is something I have needed for a long time but was surprised at just how durable they are in person. I expected them to be thin plastic like a fishing tackle box but I was way off, they are thick and well supported plastic boxes. The middle size box is probably my favorite size and the one that I will use the most. There are so many options about what you can fit in here from drills, circular saws, jigsaws or about any handheld tool. I went from carrying a large tool bag with no organization to this tool box and I really enjoy the range of what can fit in here. Everything about this toolbox is for use with one hand in mind which I really enjoy about it. I can find so many uses for this size toolbox and it should be around for a long time. I am very impressed with the durability of how they are built, ease of use and highly recommend.
I got the full set of these ToughBuilt StackTech toolboxes, and I am very impressed with them! They are true to their name in multiple ways:- They "stack", and they stack easily and well. And not only do they stack easily on top of each other, but they LOCK onto each other. There is a sliding lock switch on the front of the smaller boxes that allows them to quickly lock onto the rolling base or to one another. As soon as you place one on top of another, the lock automatically engages - you don't have to remember to take an extra step of locking them yourself. And then you can disengage the lock quickly with that sliding switch mentioned earlier. Pretty slick!!- They are "Tough". You can tell just by handling them - they don't flex around when you carry them or open them - they keep their shape! And the material walls are plenty thick - you don't have to worry about accidentally hitting them with a tool and breaking them.- Each of the boxes has some accessory attachment points on the corners. I understand that there are a host of attachments coming out soon that will make these attachment points very handy to have!- Each box has a large center latch that makes opening and closing the box a breeze. None of those wimpy two-piece latches that always seem to brake or never seem to line up properly!- All of the boxes are rated IP-65, which means they are water and dust resistant. No more arriving to the job site and finding your tools are covered in road dust or that rain leaked in and ruined some tools! For the specific "Large" toolbox - They call it "Large", but I call it "medium" because it is between the size of the large rolling toolbox and the smaller toolbox. The "medium" toolbox has a LOT of storage space - it includes an organizational tray, but I would have liked to have seen it include a few more interior organization options. It can be transported by snapping into the rolling base or by using the sturdy handles on the front or sides.
