TP-Link AC1200 Whole-Home Mesh Wi-Fi System (Deco M4(2-PACK))

Easy to install, just download the app on your phone. The deco device has different coloured lights to tell you what its up to which is cool and helpful. If you have any questions with installation the Deco live chat is really helpful. I just had one question and they answered quick and boom I now have wifi in the sleepout (which is about 10m from the house and an aluminium covered garage basically) so was quite doubtful this would work. But now I can play xbox and stream movies in the sleepout.Stoked with the range of this product couldn't recommended more if you have a spot that struggles to get wifi, took me 10m to install and I usually have struggled with routers and stuff like this in the past. This device uses 5ghz and 2.4ghz which explains the range in ... MoreEasy to install, just download the app on your phone. We were so hopeful of this product. Having seamless wifi throughout our home for devices to access. However, we have regular (multiple times per day) where various devices simply drop their connection. Because this is multiple devices, it seems unlikely to be all our devices (phones, computers, smart home products) but, rather, this wifi system. Our two wifi devices are in line-of-sight from each other. One is plugged directly into our router. The Deco iPhone app loses connection to the Deco wifi system on occasions (when other devices are suffering dropouts) so that can not be used to problem-solve while it a 'down'.When it is working, it is great - which is why my Review carries a 3-star (and not a 1-star).I want to be able to recommend the product but ... MoreWe were so hopeful of this product. Amazing!

I don’t often write reviews but I’m so thrilled with this product I felt I should. I ordered it on a Sunday and it arrived on a Wednesday. The set up is easy! You download the app on your phone (as you need to use cell data until you have one canister set up). The app has very simple instructions. You plug the first canister into an electrical socket and into your modem using a cord provided and set a password. That’s it! You now have internet back. You then take the second canister into another room (with your phone) plug it into an outlet, turn it on and then use your phone to connect it. Repeat for the 3rd canister. You will now have internet throughout your home. The hardest part is signing all your devices into the new network but you’d have to do this with any ... MoreI don’t often write reviews but I’m so thrilled with this product I felt I should. We are currently experiencing wifi speeds similar to hardwire. We have cogeco and are getting over 100mbps throughout the house that used to have many dead spots. The best part, in my opinion, is the parental controls. You are able to assign devices to family members and set time limits or bedtime hours and the app will shut off the internet to these devices. For example you can shut internet to the Xbox and iPad for one child but still let them watch Netflix on the smart tv. I was able to even pause one child’s internet until they finished their homework!! This is only day 3 but I highly recommend this system. I was worried I should have purchased a more expensive system but so far so good!!!

Andrea's review of TP-Link Deco M4 Whole Home WiFi System - Tri-Pack

Pros: We are a family of 5, living in a 4 bed, brick built dorma bungalow with Virgin media 100Mb broadband. Until buying the Deco I was getting nothing but complaints from the Xbox-ers about lagging, games cutting off a crucial moments, not being able to play on Xbox if somebody else was already on Xbox. So many issues. Similar with work MS Teams meetings being cut off at the most inopportune moments. Many calls to Virgin with no resolution, I did my own bit of research. Now I must advise that I am not technically minded in the slightest. I started off with zero clue of what I wanted. I found these Decos and given the other reviews figured they’d be worth a try. GAME CHANGER!! No complaints at all from any family member within any part of the house doing anything ... MorePros: We are a family of 5, living in a 4 bed, brick built dorma bungalow with Virgin media 100Mb broadband. As I said, I’m not technically minded so was worried how I might manage the set up - easy peasy. Honestly cannot recommend these enough to people in similar situations to mine.Cons: The units are quite big so no way of blending them in to your home decor but that said, they’re not the ugliest things I’ve ever seen and frankly it’s a small price to pay for harmonious children.

Great bang for buck. Confirm your speed.

Bang for buck, I recommend. But important compromises below:The way it works is, one of the 3 connects to your modem with a wire and acts as a WiFi router. The other two will connect to that signal wirelessly to give you signal elsewhere and act as a satellite, but better than a WiFi extender. The Good: these work sooo much better than extenders. I have a 2 story spread out home and only one access point for my modem on opposite end of house. Even with extender and top of the line routers, I couldnt get a consistent strong signal everywhere. With these placed strategically, Im good everywhere! Also easy to set up. No dropped signal as I move around the house. The bad: the signal coming off of one of satellites Aka not connected to modem is weaker than the one ... MoreBang for buck, I recommend. I get about 200-220 mpps from main router. The satellites not plugged into Ethernet give me about 75-100mpps. Thats still more than enough bandwidth for streaming, web surfing, and quality work video calls. But if youre a heavy gamer or have a slower internet speed plan and is cut in half or more as you move around, this may not work for you.Summary: Other mesh systems are several hundred dollars. For the price ($120 when I purchased), this one is great. If you are using internet for basic needs, have 200mpps or greater internet, and havent had success with extenders, this is a great buy. If you are a heavy tech pro and dont plan on having all 3 connected to Ethernet, probably not your best option.

Great mesh system - stop renting your WiFi modem!

This was a great upgrade from our single WiFi gateway provided by our internet provider which we pay $5.00/month. I installed all three mesh modems in our two level house and now we get great coverage throughout. Our home was built with metal studs - not wood - so the metal was interfering with WiFi. This mesh system has solved that problem. Super easy to install and easy to set up with the mobile app. I like the fact that each unit has two internet jacks - our house has hard wired internet jacks in each location of the modem so each modem is hard wired to the house internet. The mesh system allows each wireless phone, iPad, etc to maintain WiFi connectivity to be passed off between locations in the house. Philip's review of TP-Link Deco M4 Whole Home WiFi System - Tri-Pack

Pros: They improved on what I had previously as far as strength of signal.PrettyCons: The coverage is nowhere near what they promise through certain areas. I have one physically 3 meters from me upstairs but the Wi-Fi analyser says it is 10 meters. (1950's house)Setup says basically place them around house, but without a Wi-Fi analyser it is guess work as app said "Okay" but I still had dead spots.Wi-Fi analyser still shows 3 separate Wi-Fi signals so is this a MESH? No information as to what mode you should use in setup for a MESH. No choice during install, but I was left playing around in hope with settings. Many of my smart home devices suddenly go off line for no reason, a problem I never had with my Devolo Wi-Fi setup

Poor Function

I bought this for a home office setup on the 2nd floor of my house. I had to move my workstation downstairs to my dining table because the wifi connection is poor.TP-Link also removed a feature from the Deco app that used to allow you to test the speed of the unit. Why would a company want to remove the ability to measure the performance of their product? Because it underperforms. My wired download speed is around 480 mbps to my main router. At the time I had to move my computer, I was barely getting a wifi speed of 12 mbps at my upstairs desk. Since restaring everything, I am getting about 320 mbps at the downstairs dining table, and just 88 upstairs.

Terrible and outdated product! 03/04/2023

This thing would have been great if you had an internet speed of upwards of 300MBPS, however, I do not. I have 5G, 1GBPS download speed which this product failed even to hit 300MBPS when I used the option to 'priority' for one of the units. So for a short summary, because this product doesn't deserve any more of my time, this isn't something you'd want to spend money on especially if you can get a wifi-extender that's cheaper and does the trick. Also, Deco's 'live agent' customer support doesn't exist. They're napping or something. Deco clearly outsources its customer support to a third-world country or something. (Not hating on third-world countries but 24/7 support should be 24/7, not 24 hours of wait time to support 7 customers).PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS ... MoreThis thing would have been great if you had an internet speed of upwards of 300MBPS, however, I do not. Works, but can be a bit funky and unpredictable with some wireless devices

One of the interesting characteristics about this mesh system is that it's actually beneficial if you don't know how these kinds of devices work. Those who have experience with networks and routers will find this mesh system somewhat hard to grok. So, when installing it, it's best to dumb yourself down and just follow instructions and not overanalyze why. Otherwise you will likely follow the same sequence I hdi, which was to set up the mesh, have it not work for reasons I honestly cannot fathom, then reset the whole system and start again. The second time through it seems to make more sense (in its own odd way). I was eventually able to make the system work. The hardest part was getting it to work with an Amazon Smart Thermostat. That said, with sufficient patience I was able to make it work with my entire complement of wireless devices. Price is right too. Overall, I am quite pleased.
