Has the essential AP features but can't be used as a wi-fi extender. The range is not great... and just 2 thin walls make the connection unreliable with unstable performance.WAN port is 1Gbit by specification but when you use a longer LAN cable it drops the speed to 100Mbit after a couple of hours. It was happening when connected to LAN or another router so definitely a problem with this Archer AP. Unfortunately, PBtech support didn't believe me and let me pay to restock fee although I tested it for days to isolate the issue. All other 4x LAN 1Gbit ports worked fine at full 1Gbit.

Bought this to replace the default junk that came from my broadband supplier. The old router could handle 1Gb connections as long as there was only one connection lol, any time I had more than one PC transferring files everything slowed down. With the TP Link Archer every pc can download or transfer files at full speed, there are tons of easy setup options and the latest firmware update added a 'Mesh' menu! (I don't have any other Mesh routers so cant test this but nice to know its available).

To keep this brief, I would 110% recommend this router.I live in an apartment complex with a supplied internet provider. I had one other router and the eero mesh before getting this one. I have to say the eero was disappointing because you can’t force 5GHz connections. The other one was just a cheaper Netgear router and was lackluster. Both of those systems had some iffy performance in regards to stability. I found myself buffering on YouTube/Netflix quite often. I only have 100 Mbps up & down so I started to suspect that I was suffering because of my speeds. I almost called to upgrade my speeds but I picked up this TP Link router first. I force most of my devices to use the 5GHz connections (unless not compatible) and it works like a charm. This is a great router and saved me from needing to pay an extra however many dollars per month just to upgrade my upload and download speeds through my ISP. I’m very grateful for the cost savings. My one complaint was the setup. I couldn’t find the device on the app for like 10-20 minutes. I ended up rebooting twice and plugging my ethernet cable into the 2.5 Gbps port instead of the 1 Gbps. It found my device shortly after that. The remainder of the setup was pretty standard protocol and not difficult.

Works fine. Replaced my previous TP-Link Wi-Fi Router. Amazingly easy to setup. Better setup-menus in console. Not a Wi-Fi Guru: All devices connect fast. Reaches all areas in home with good signal and no dropouts. The signal strength depends on the distance from the unit. Overall, signal is good - nothing to complain about.
This router is easy to setup and really opened up our home to the internet. At any given time we have 15 items running on the internet. It handles 3 gaming PCs , 3 game consoles, 4 smart TV's, phones and smart devices with no issues especially compared to our older N router in which I now use as an AP in the basement and integrated with the TP-Link with no problems. I really like this router and highly recommend.
I don't get a great signal upstairs. I could get an extender I suppose for upstairs. TV is on the same floor as the router so the signal is good. I plug into to it when I am working on my computer so no issues there. So far so good overall - I have only had it a few weeks. It was easy enough to set up and only had to reset it once.
It was time to update the Trend net router. Was a great router for years but it would not get pass 70 Mbps when testing the speed. Bought and install TP -link 3200 Tri-band. Simple installation. Tested the speed and it shows 120 Mbps. Optimum ISP. Would recommend. Hopefully it last just as long as the Trend net.
This router gets a 3 stars because of the set-up. If you are not computer savvy forget about it.For it to recognize the moden i had to update the router, there for the conundrum, I need internet and PC didn't have ethernet cable connection. So I did all the WAN setup with the app than I downloaded the update with my phone's data, uploaded the file to the router and made the update. For the rest of the stuff it is really easy to change configuration, make quest specific network and everything else.
I moved from Spectrum to Verizon Fios. I am not on a gig connection so I was picking up the router rental. Consequently, I decided to buy my own router and return the Verizon router. In addition, I was also facing some issues with the Verizon router as my TP Link extender would not recognize the signal coming from the Verizon router.I have no modem. The Cat 6 ethernet cable connects the OTN directly to the router. Once the connections were in place and I booted up the router, it recognized the signal with minimum time delay. Setting up is very simple thru either web or Teether app. (I used the web).I live in apartment and all my streaming and mobile devices are clearly showing improved performance. I did note that the second 5 Ghz stream's signal strength is not that strong but I am not using it, so it is no problem for me.I have owned this router for about a month. So far all is fine.
As a Wi-Fi router, it works great. No problems there. However, if you are planning to hook an external drive, or USB stick to it, do not expect fast speeds. Their USB3 is slower than USB2 standards. So if you copy something to it, even a small file, you will need to go get a cup of coffee while you are waiting. I looked it up, and it is a known problem with them.
