TP-Link Archer C4000 AC4000 Wireless Tri-Band MU-MIMO Router

Awesome Router. plugged in to main modem to create new networks. Now getting speeds in excess of 300MBps and it it rock steady (original modem would flake out because of google home). Love it. Too easy to setup as well :)

Excellent Router

I'm a long-standing fan of Wirecutter - basically the New York Times' version of Consumer Reports - and this is their 2019 recommendation for best wi-fi router. They've never disappointed me with their recommendations, and this time is no exception, with the Archer C4000 being easy to set up (even in a Mac environment) and has blazing fast throughput. Setting up Mac Time Machine backups was a snap, and I had everything set up and all of my devices connected in less than an hour. Fast data rates, USB 3.0 drive sharing/backup

I got this router because my network drive is 10 years old and this router has USB 3.0 to connect a hard drive for network-accessible backups.I've been using this for a week now and it works great. I have about 30 devices including, laptops, tablets, phones, Ring Doorbell Camera, smart thermostat, and lighting all working great.I attached a 4TB USB drive to the USB 3.0 port and it is working great so far. Once I finish transferring the files from my old NAS box, I will decommission that and use a file sync tool to sync changes between my desktop bulk storage drive and this network backup.Definitely worth paying a few extra bucks for this router.

Great range, but has challenges

Bought to replace an identical year-old router. Old router became unstable, and warranty process takes weeks, so this one was intended for immediate replacement. Unfortunately, after 2 days of trying, we never got the new one to work. It seems like either a MAC Binding issue, but could be a defective new router. Oddly, after a dozen-plus reboots, the old router fixed itself. So now the new router sits unused, as we are reluctant to mess with the old one while it’s working. TP-Link customer support has been acceptable - but not great - throughout this ordeal. That said, when they work, and if bought on sale, the AC4000 router can be a great value.

Horrible. Stay away. Poor support from TPLINK

I had the Archer C9 before buying this one and it worked flawlessly for about 5 years. Well I decided to upgrade to a newer model that can support more devices and chose this one. What a horrible experience. The 5G channels don’t work and then they do, they drop off. It’s a known issue that TPLINK is aware of as I discovered online and on their community forums. Even though it’s a known issue, they never updated the firmware to fix it. I wish I had done my research prior to buying this unit. Luckily for me, I was able to return it for a full refund about a week after trying everything to fix it.

Nice Speed Increase Over Spectrum Router.

Purchased this to replace the new Spectrum wifi router they gave us when we setup service at the new address. The Spectrum wireless router was basically just a small cannister shaped device that had no antennas. Poor signal from every room, and lower than advertised download speeds from our package we signed up for. I understand that the Spectrum router is simple and limited, but you still pay for it. Then we upgraded to the C4000. Instant improvement! Download speeds hit the advertised numbers we paid for on our package from Spectrum. Every room and device now has a solid connection with no buffering when streaming content. Also the range is nice extending all the way out past the driveway of the house. Very happy with the purchase so far.

Nice upgrade from Verizon FIOS router

Been using Verizon router for several years. It supports up to 100mbp. Recently upgraded the FIOS service to 300mbp/300mbp but couldn't take advantage of the higher bandwidth due to the aging router. Decided to go with this TP-Link C4000 and no regret. Not only has the speed been improved but the area coverage is excellent. Signal strength in a three floor townhouse is at 80-90% throughout.

SO FAR SO GOOD!

Our house was, unfortunately built right before it became standard to install ethernet all around, so we are a 100% wireless in a rather large home with HDTVs, several Rokus, iPads, iPhones, etc. I noticed the difference immediately. BE SURE to research MU-MIMO... luckily, I had upgraded several devices at the same time, and they can reap the benefits of the features this offers. Throughput is great, No fighting over bandwidth among household gadgets... Easy setup and interface! Lastly, great price compared to routers with simlar specs!! (I was wary of the super cheap ones claiming the same results... I'm 100% satisfied!)

Speed, Reliability, Cool Features

I debated upgrading to WiFi 6, but my phone is the only device I have that’s WiFi 6 capable and for my price range I thought this would give me better features. I was upgrading an 802.11n Apple Time Capsule that was over 10 years old. It would occasionally require me to turn off and back on my phone or tablet’s WiFi to get it to work and I was getting speed tests at about 75 megs. My ISP service is 200 megs, which I could get through Ethernet. I also had trouble getting the signal to my front door for my doorbell. This router has erased those issues. I’m now getting 220 megs down over WiFi and can get 75 even from the street beside my house. I haven’t used them all, but if you have kids and want to cut off their WiFi at a certain hour, that’s an option. I like that you can prioritize the connection by device or media type. I also like the feature that allows me to just have one wireless network that chooses between 2.5 GHz, or one of the two 5Ghz networks instead of having to manually switch between or guess which one I should connect to (This feature was not default, I had to turn it on).OverallI’m very happy with this purchase and got it at a good price as well.

Very Pleasant Surprise

Needed to replace an aging router; wanted something with longer range to reach the barn. This baby filled the bill.But, the icing on the cake was the setup. Setting it up using the (built-in) configuration web page was a delight: painless, intuitive, fast and reliable.And the management features are equally easy but sufficiently detailed.Well done, and thanks for a great solution.
