My previous mesh system was the TP-Link deco m9 so I'm quite familiar with the brand and the app. But the Deco m9 is on the older wifi-5 and to be perfectly honest, I didn't really see any problems with it. I don't have a very large home, average is what I think, but the m9 I had, had 3 units and it seemed to cover my home pretty well. I have well over 25 things using our m9 at most times and nothing seemed to lag and coverage was good. So I wasn't really sure that I needed the latest and greatest. Well..... I was wrong. This really did improve every device in the house. I almost instantly knew when I opened a streaming device on my phone and started to watch a channel. This really did improve every device in the house. I almost instantly knew when I opened a streaming device on my phone and started to watch a channel. It was almost instantaneous in playing the video. I switched to different videos and it loaded so quickly, I was stunned. My next test was to go outside towards my neighbors house to see what type of coverage I would be getting and to see if there would be any lag. My next door neighbor ran without a problem but I did notice a slight slowdown across the street, but still very very usable. I was super happy.Since I already had an older Deco, I just had to add the BE5000 to the app which was very simple. It is also Alexa and Google enable. I didn't know what good that would do until I looked into it. The ability to shut off the guest network or limit the time certain phones or tablet can be on the internet is awesome. This will help anyone with kids control their screen time. You also have so much information about the current status of things logged on through the app, things you probably forgot about LOL. So far, the BE5000 has been absolutely amazing. Fast and stable internet throughout the house.

The price for a three-node Wi-Fi 7 Mesh network is great, and there is a lot to like, until I realized that these although are Wi-Fi 7, do not have the 6 Ghz radio.W-Fi 7 allows for three simultaneous bands: The slower, more crowded and longer range 2.4 Ghz, the shorter range and faster 5 Ghz and the even faster 6 Ghz at much shorter distances. This router set lacks the 6 Ghz radio. However Wi-Fi 7 makes better use of the available frequencies by packing data frames more close together. So this explains the relatively low price for a three-set.This is my first TP-Link router after using a different brand for many years, and I like what I see.The configuration is done via the Deco app for phones or tablets. For a consumer router it has everything it needs. One can configure different Wi-Fi security settings, internal network address and reservations, port forwarding, IPv6, DNS and everything I'd expect. It can also be set to act as a VPN client (For whole-house VPN) or VPN server, to use the home IP address while traveling. Didn't get to use this but it's there and can come in handy. Each node has two Ethernet ports, and both are 2.5 Gigabits, so it can support Internet connections higher than 1 Gigabits. The main node recognizes automatically which node is connected to the internet provider and which one is local. This worked just fine. Additionally, the other nodes can use Ethernet for backhaul. For Backhaul, each node will prioritize Ethernet, if connected and will simultaneously use available Wi-Fi channels for extra bandwidth. It's all automatic and reconfigures itself on the fly.I have a complicated network with over 70 devices at a given time, some on Wi-Fi and some on Ethernet, with several Ethernet switches in between. Due to an unrelated issue, one Ethernet switch went offline, and the satellite nodes switched automatically to Wi-Fi and even served the local Ethernet clients. They again reconfigured when the issue was addressed. I'm impressed how reliable this has been.I prefer using a Desktop to configure the router, and the web interface is fairly basic, used mostly for monitoring, and not much to configure from it. However I was able to use the iPad app on macOS and worked well enough to set what I needed from the comfort of my keyboard.I also like it doesn't need to reboot when making most changes. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 MLO (Multi-Link) network however this runs on a separate WiFi network label. What this does is that it allows Wi-Fi 7 clients to utilize different bands concurrently.TP-Link also offers additional security filters through optional paid services, which I did not try. Regardless it also supports setting up a separate IoT Wi-Fi, Guest Wi-Fi, basic parental controls and IP camera filters. The main interface shows where every device connects to, on which bands and real-time bandwidth utilization. The deco app can also control other TP-Link home automation devices and it can act as a Matter server. This seems to need more work and doesn’t seem to support Thread but theOverall, if one doesn't need the short-range 6 Ghz band, this is an excellent choice, and the price is much more reasonable than other routers. I'm impressed at how logical the configuration is and overall how stable it's been since installing it.

I recently switched from a Linksys mesh network to this TP Link BE5000 mesh system and have no regrets at all. I just have a handful of WiFi 7 devices but the performance is great when compared to my previous network. This mesh system is basically an entry to WiFi 7 because it is Dual Band and not Tri or Quad. Now Wifi 7 CAN and does enhance the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands but is missing the 6Ghz band to fully take advantage of its speed. In the box is a pretty straight forward presentation of 3 modules with their power bricks, 1 single ethernet cable and a simple set up guide. Basically scan a QR code or download the Deco App.Setup was super easy and soooo much smoother than my previous system. Once I got the primary node up and running you just basically put the other 2 where you want in range and plug them in. They paired with no additional steps or anything. I love it.Range is great and reaches a few houses down from me before it disconnects. I have no problems getting my 1900 sq ft house 100% covered including the garage and surrounding yards. All my outdoor cameras show full signal strength and my garage door opener has no issues as well unlike my last mesh system. I am using 14 cams from different brands, multiple PCs and consoles and a ton of smaller things like plugs, locks etc and the BE5000 doesn't even break a sweat.I am using G Fiber Gigabit and the speeds are as advertised when hardwired. Setting up a home network was super simple in app and there is also the option of creating a Guest Wifi account. I have all my devices using the primary WiFi and my roommate is using the Guest. I like how you can also use 1 band or both by a simple button click. Need only 2.4? Done. Want both? Easy.I personally like this TP Link system a lot for my personal needs, but if you are really wanting to take advantage of WiFi 7 speeds, I recommend looking for a system with the 6ghz band.

This wasn’t a problem in my case.SetupSetup was very simple using the Deco app. In my case, as I was upgrading from an older and reliable TP-Link Wi-Fi 6 mesh system (which I loved), the upgrade process was able to minimize any disruptions to my home network (which has over 50 connected devices). The upgrade process transfers all my current network settings (such as IP address reservation for my 4 NAS devices) from my home network to the new BE5000 unit. This saves me a lot of time and hassle. When upgrading to a newer TP-Link mesh system, there is an option in the Deco app to replace the main router with a newer (BE5000) unit. To do this, you attach an ethernet cable between the old main router and the new BE5000 unit. You then power up the BE5000 unit and the app will start searching for it.I had to attempt this a couple of times before the Deco app found the BE5000 unit. After finding the BE5000 unit, the Deco app sets up the new BE5000 unit as the main router and the settings of the previous main router were transferred to the new BE5000 unit. You can then remove the old main router from your network using the Deco app.I then used the option in the Deco app to manually add the other BE5000 units to my network and remove the older units. While I was doing this, there was no disruption to my network (except for the brief moment when I was replacing the main router). One really cool thing about this is that I could have used the older units from my previous mesh system as additional nodes in my new network. The older TP-Link units are compatible with the newer BE5000 units. For my 1400 square ft 3 level townhouse, 3 nodes are enough to cover my whole house with excellent wi-fi. I have a node on each floor of my townhouse.PerformanceDuring my 5 days of use, the TP Link BE5000 has been rock solid and super fast. I have not encountered any issues with any of my devices. All my wi-fi devices (whether using the 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz bands) seem to be functioning perfectly. The coverage is also excellent as I get full strength signals in all 3 floors of my townhouse. On my Wi-Fi 7 enabled laptop (using the Mediatek MT7925 adapter) I am getting the fastest link speed (2882/2882 Mbps) I have ever seen on the 5 Ghz band. With my previous TP-Link Wi-Fi 6 system, this same laptop reported a link speed of 2402/2402 Mbps. The TP-Link BE5000 Mesh Wi-Fi system can also perform Backhaul Aggregation where it can combine the wireless Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet connections between two nodes to improve speed and throughput.I am currently using MOCA as a wired backhaul for the units in my network. The MOCA units I am using are limited to 1 Gbps transfer rate. With Backhaul Aggregation, the connection speed between each node should now be greatly improved.Using Speedtest, I am getting 924.41 Mbps download and 23.23 Mbps upload speeds on Xfinity. Overall, browsing the web and doing anything online feels very zippy. The TP-Link BE5000 Mesh Wi-Fi system has been rock solid, provides excellent range and great compatibility with all my Wi-Fi devices, and is also very fast. The Deco app has a good user interface, visually displays useful information about your network while also providing access to advanced options and features such as Operation Mode, MAC Cloning, NAT Forwarding, IP Address Reservations, QoS, adding a VPN server, adding a MLO and dedicated IoT Network, etc.In summary, I can easily recommend the TP-Link BE5000 Dual Band Mesh Wi-Fi 7 system to anyone who is looking for a low-cost entry point to upgrading their network to Wi-Fi 7.
I have these spread around my home. One in the living room, one in the master bedroom and one in my gaming "man cave." The placement, allows all my main areas of the home as well as my back patio to get full wifi coverage now where before it was spotty at best, and usually non-existent. Setup was a breeze. Connect to your router, power up the devices, download an app, and it does the majority of the heavy lifting from there. I left my legacy wi-fi5e up for things like home automation, but I have this as a side network for my devices that can use the boost, such as my PS5, gaming PCs, and tablets. These are kinda big, and not the most stylish devices. They look like smoke detectors, honestly. These are kinda big, and not the most stylish devices. They look like smoke detectors, honestly. But they do a good job, have a fairly strong signal output, and allow me to enjoy my morning coffee and read the news on my tablet on my back patio deck. Range on these is truly phenomenal. I had similar devices years ago that were many times the MSRP of these and not nearly as easy to set up nor as solid of a signal. This doesn't have a "donut hole" of lost signal in the middle like my older system did. Highly recommend for a solid wifi 7 experience.
I've only used it for about one night. I didn't even know this existed. Was browsing through my local Best Buy store and stumbled upon it. Speeds will drastically improve on devices that support WiFi 7. As far as ones that don't, coverage should improve on those as well but only time will tell. I do like that these have TWO multi gig ports as opposed to only one. Huge pro. Other than that. Not that different than WiFi 6e mesh.
I never write reviews, but i saw that there was only a few reviews for this product that werent that great. I bought these to upgrade my moms old google wifi routers. These setup very easily and the mesh points connect seamlessly with the main point, no having to go on the app to connect the extras. Very great value for the price and connection on them are amazing!!!
We have been looking for a whole home mesh Wi-Fi setup to keep up with our 2 gig home internet, and the TP Link BE5000 has done an excellent job filling that need. We run several computers, TV's, tablets, and phones daily, as well as our smart home items. We have experienced no issues even though we have dozens of connected devices, and have full signal strength in our entire house, garage, and yard. Compared to our older, slower system, we have had no buffering when streaming in 4K as well, and that was something we have always struggled with. My gaming PC is able to plug into one of the Wi-fi satellites and experience excellent wired connection speeds, which is great for online gaming and especially nice when dealing with large game downloads and system updates. I also love that this system will work when we get a larger house, it has such a massive coverage area that I would feel comfortable using this across multiple floors or even reaching out to a detached garage. For the price I really don't think you can beat the TP Link BE5000, and I would highly recommend it!
I was curious about upgrading my Wi-Fi 6 mesh home network and when the Deco BE5000 Mesh Wi-Fi 7 system was recently introduced by TP-Link, I figured it would be an easy and affordable introduction to the latest in Wi-Fi home networking. I should state that I am basically at the entry level of fully understanding home networking, and I prefer to rely on simple and easy networking devices and software to get turn-key results. Being very familiar with TP-Link as a leader as the owner of several smart wi-fi plugs and wall switches, I was excited to give this new Wi-Fi 7 mesh network system a try.I sense that what you don’t know about networking can and will hurt you, but I found TP-Link takes most of the guesswork out of setting up a simple, secure, and reliable home ... MoreI was curious about upgrading my Wi-Fi 6 mesh home network and when the Deco BE5000 Mesh Wi-Fi 7 system was recently introduced by TP-Link, I figured it would be an easy and affordable introduction to the latest in Wi-Fi home networking. I should state that I am basically at the entry level of fully understanding home networking, and I prefer to rely on simple and easy networking devices and software to get turn-key results. Being very familiar with TP-Link as a leader as the owner of several smart wi-fi plugs and wall switches, I was excited to give this new Wi-Fi 7 mesh network system a try.I sense that what you don’t know about networking can and will hurt you, but I found TP-Link takes most of the guesswork out of setting up a simple, secure, and reliable home network. I wasn’t so much concerned about connectivity speeds, as that seems more dependent on the internet service provider you have access to. However, as more and more home devices require networking connectivity to work, a fast and reliable network like the BE5000 Deco does begin to make a difference. Here’s where the advantage of utilizing Wi-Fi 7 network features comes more into play. After setting up the Deco BE5000 Mesh system following mostly default settings, I was up and running quickly. At first setup, it did require a brief firmware update and then the Deco smartphone app walks you through the basic installation.Wanting to know more about what I was actually installing, I did several internet searches lo learn about some of the unfamiliar terms, such as MLO (Multi-Link Operations) and IoT (Internet of Things) networks, just to name a few. TP-link’s website contains lots of useful information to help you to make informed networking choices. I could already see that I needed to go back and make several improvements to my “default” home setup armed with a little better understanding. For example, I created a separate IoT network to handle my smart home devices like the wall switches and plugs I mentioned earlier. I didn’t realize I had so many until you find they no longer work after removing them from the old network! It makes perfect sense to set up multiple networks for better control and safety. Speaking of safety, TP-Link does offer a security plan subscription to add extra layers of security to your networking, and that includes a free 30-day trial. My only Wi-Fi 7 clients in our home are two newer laptops. When I switched over to the newly installed network using the faster MLO option, I got a message on my laptop congratulating me for adding a fast and more secure network. It was also quick and easy to set up a guest network for when family visits, basically the flip of a switch in the app. I have noticed as I go around changing networks on all my devices, the Deco BE5000 provides strong Wi-Fi coverage throughout our home.I still feel I have a lot to learn but feel the Deco BE5000 at least gets my foot in the door of Wi-Fi 7 networking. It is no doubt an entry level system and expect to pay twice as much or more to get all the bells and whistles of Wi-Fi 7. In fact in its legal disclaimer, it states “This Deco may not support all the mandatory features as ratified in IEEE 802.11be specification.” For example, I’m aware that it lacks the 6Ghz band found in more high-end Wi-Fi 7 routers. I suspect that for home use, the TP-Link Deco BE5000 will be more than adequate to enjoy improvements from what Wi-Fi 7 has to offer, one that’s affordable and easy to set up.
This Deco BE5000 replaced my very stable, high quality pro mesh wifi6e ax system and has beaten it to almost every feature.DesignThe design of the router and nodes do not disappoint. They are compact, not intrusive, and looks like a work of art. It is finished in matte white and has a little led indicator that helps determine the status of each piece. It looks good that I do not have to worry where I place it because it looks pretty good just being placed on the piano, by the fireplace and on a work desk.SetupSetup is almost plug and play. The Deco app is pretty easy for me to understand, as someone who is more tech-oriented. It does require some tweaks to make the most out of the router which I will mention later. The Deco app is pretty easy for me to understand, as someone who is more tech-oriented. It does require some tweaks to make the most out of the router which I will mention later. I don’t think my mother-in-law will be able to set it up, unlike some more consumer-focused plug-and-play routers, but this is easy enough for a mesh system that has ample customizations. Once I had internet on the main router, the two other nodes are pretty easy to set up. I would say, all three are running in around 15 minutes, maybe less.PerformanceRange is great and speed is FAST. My previous ax router had to be placed at a corner of the fireplace so the concrete does not block the wifi. Even though this router looks pretty, I tucked it behind the clock on the fireplace (to lessen fireplace decor) without signal interference. In my previous setup with the router showing, it hits my other node to the office, 15 feet away with a door, at 120mbps average. And I had to keep the office door open to give my office devices some boost every so often. With this BE5000 router, I am hitting 440mbps on a closed door! Now this gave me an opportunity to rearrange my nodes, because I am getting more coverage at faster speeds. Now, the advantage of this for me, is the ability to have WifI7 and luckily, I have two clients (PC and phone) that has wifi 7. This system has MLO, which I learned, uses all bands at the same time for the clients and works more closely hand-in-hand with each other to give the best signal at the best location at the best time. So far, it works for my phone well as I can move room to room without hiccups. I cannot say the same with my PC because it is mostly in the office, but I used to have signal drops in my previous Wifi 6e ax system with the latest intel wifi driver that I had to roll my wifi driver back to a previous build. Now, I have the latest drivers up and it is more compatible with this router.Deco app and customizationsThere are some pros and cons to the app.PROS: I can easily detect active and online devices, including added ones. I can also easily set up wifi settings like guest networks and iot networks—(however this is also a con). There are also pretty good added features which are network scanning and security (I am sure other routers probably have this too, but this sort of gives me more peace-of-mind), easy wifi-access controls, and device controls including camera security. One of the things I also love is the ability to install VPN on the router itself, making everyone in the network covered with VPN without having to install or enable VPNs for all of my devices. This also has the MLO network which is good for wifi7 clients.CONS: Besides the fact that the app is not for grandma, there are some features that are broken, which I think can be fixed by a software / firmware update. IoT network. This one supposedly creates a network perfect for all my IoT devices. I have at least 35 devices including lights, plugs, cameras, sensors, door locks, cast devices, etc. When I set up my IoT, it was VERY slow. It was almost unusable. My connections were breaking. So as I mentioned in my PROS that it is easy to setup wifi networks, I created the main network, not the MLO only for 2.4Ghz, with the hopes that this will be my dedicated IoT network. Same problem. So I think, when one network is running only on one of the two bands, 2.4Ghz specifically, it does not function properly. So I just did not use the IoT network, and placed all of them on the main dual band network (enabling dual band vs only 2.4) and anyone fast can log onto the MLO network. Not a deal-breaker for me as there is a workaround.Another con is the ability to do parental controls. I tried to do parental controls on the free version, which is, I created profiles for the kids, easily put their devices in, laptop and tablet and see activity. However, when they hit a snag, like perhaps open a site that is not appropriate for their age (one of them is 11 years old), it locks them out of the internet and the app simply tells me they ran out of time, even if they are in schedule (not in time lockouts). The only way to get them back in the internet is by deleting their profiles, which makes it almost useless. Now, I tried using the paid version (there is a 30-day trial) and it works without having to lock them out of the internet. The app works and simply blocks any content they hit that they were not supposed to visit. Again, not a deal-breaker as it is an add-on and something that firmware can fix.I know there are some quirks but so far, the main function of the system, it being super duper fast and super duper lag free and super duper low ping / latency is the main draw. Maybe one last quirk is hoping it had a hole under the node so I can install it like a smoke alarm to the wall, but that’s minor. All the other quirks are simple easy fixes that TP-link can do in a snap. Regardless of the challenges, it is still 98% great and I definitely recommend this.
