TP-Link KP400 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug

This outdoor dual smart plug by Kasa is legit - the price point is ideal and it works flawlessly just as you'd imagine it should. We own two of these bad Larry's: one on the deck for our string lights which we put on a schedule (through the kasa app) as well as hooking up the projector for outside movie night in the backyard. The other one we use in the front yard (see picture) for plugging is festive decorations such as blow-up ghosts for Halloween, Xmas lights, string lights on the porch for whatever the holiday/season is. This smart outdoor dual plug can withstand any weather condition you can think of without hesitation. Also, if you don't have your phone and aren't near your Google/Alexa device, you can turn on/off each plug individually with the press of a button on the actual kasa device itself. Easy to use, very short cord.

This is great option to save some electricity if you have a bunch of holiday blow up decorations. The Kasa app is easy to use and set up schedules to automatically turn off and on spotlights and blow up’s. The only drawback I have with these is their extremely short cord. The instructions recommend keeping the outlets hanging downwards the reduced the risk of water shorts. But doesn’t have enough length to loop it back up. Do you need to buy additional an additional 1’-3’ outdoor cord and then seal that connection.

Excellent Outdoor wifi dual outlet. Reliable.

I have two of these now. I take measures to keep them at least out of direct sunlight and rain to help them last as long as possible. But, they are very well made, easy to connect (to Kasa App and Alexa for verbal commands). This most recent one I am using to control lighting I installed over a large covered awning work/parking area allowing me to turn one section on at a time or both. It is so nice to be able set "scenes" in kasa with such benefits of turning the lights on remotely as I pull up to park.

Fantastic Smart Plug

I've been using this smart plug for about a year now and I am really happy with it. I have been using it outdoors, and it has been working flawlessly. It's really easy to set up. You just download the Kasa app to your phone and create/login to your account. Then just follow the easy prompts, and in minutes your are set up and running. You can also take the extra step to connect it to google/alexa/cortana, which I definitely recommend. I have been using mine with Google, and the functionality has been working perfectly for me. I'll also point out that each plug can be controlled separately. I have two different sets of outdoor lights, and I can turn either one on, or both. It's really nice to have this kind of flexibility. Great for controlling those lights and inflatables

Switch works great. I use this to control light and inflatables during the holidays. there were some problems in the beginning to connect to my WiFi but I think it was just user error. I have additional ones and they connected flawlessly. Works with both my Google Home and Alexa. Sometimes when I use Google to operate the switch, it wont respond, or it says it cannot find it. I am assuming it is a signal sensitivity thing. But that happens rarely. If it doesnt work on Google, then I have Alexa do it and it works fine. It could be the unit itself because the units work fine. Either way, works, 99.99% of the time. I am ok with that. The app works fine and offers me the flexibility that I want/need. Love that it works with Google/Alexa.

Great for outdoor decorations

If you want to control your outdoor decorations with your phone or via Alexa this is the product you want. Yes each of the two plugs can be controlled separately. Unlike other products you can control each outlet as if it was a separate plug. You can setup routines to automatically turn the power on and off based on your particular needs. Why would you want to control them separately? You can put lights on one plug and an inflatable on another. I have purchased 3 of these and they work perfectly as long as they are within wifi range.

Inexpensive yet solid, a good outdoor plug

This is an inexpensive outdoor plug that integrates with Alexa and the Google Assistant. I wish it had HomeKit compatibility but I'll take what I can get for this price. Mine has survived a few rainy days without issues, it hasn't overloaded my outlet either. I haven't had issues with it disconnecting from my Wi-Fi or not being found by Alexa. I had a Ring outdoor outlet but their required $50 could not maintain a connection to my mesh Wi-Fi network. This doesn't have that problem and cost half as much without requiring it's own network adapter. The plug is about 300ft from my nearest Wi-Fi node and it hasn't dropped connection yet. I was able to control my Halloween lights without issues and I've recently hooked up my Christmas lights. Simple and Effective for Smart Christmas Lighting!

I bought this to run my outdoor Christmas lighting into to make it simpler to turn on and off rather then having to manually turn my lights on daily or have a weird timer I had to press a bunch of notches on to setup the times I wanted it on and off... And this answered that problem with flying colors. I do have other Kasa smart plugs I use indoors for Christmas trees (yes plural lol) and they all work great together. The app is very simple to use and setup scheduling. You can also sync it up to your Google Home if you wish to set up your schedule within there but I found no need to do so as the Kasa app was simple. THE smart outdoor lighting solution

Perfect solution to automate your outdoor lights and or gear. I have this connected to our holiday lights, as well as our landscape lighting. Both outlets are independent of each other within the app, and you can schedule them differently as well. Setup within the application is easy as well. The app was able to find the device quickly, and the app itself is very intuitive. I intend to keep this out and connected all year long.

Works as intended and as expected…

Purchased two for outdoor Christmas decorations. Easy to setup. App is easy to figure out and use. Two outlets that can be programmed individually. Cons, which are more of a personal preference… Would have preferred a flat plug, it be less bulky of a device, power cord aligned so that the face or back of device sits flat/parallel to the wall when plugged in (see photos). The power cord is not easily straightened or twisted due to its heavy gauge (which is not a bad thing) but will probably loosen and become more flexible over time. Overall, this smart outdoor Wi-Fi plug works as intended and as expected.
