The AC1750 came with 3 ways to set up, with the favored being to download an app and create an account, which is more work than needed, and not necessary. So, I determined the easiest way to set things up, and provide the steps here, which come from the instructions:1. I plugged the AC1750 into an outlet near my router, selected the wps (wi-fi protected setup button) on my router and let the two devices connect wirelessly. I pushed the wps button twice, once for the 2.4GHz band, and one for the 5 GHz band. I confirmed that four lights were lit on the AC1750: power, 1.4GHz, 5.0GHz. and the big, receiving a good signal, circle.2. Then I plugged the AC1750 into a outlet halfway between the router and my computer.3. On my computer, I disconnected from my wireless ... I searched for available networks, and selected MyHomeRouter_EXT (which was the AC1750).5. I entered the same SSDI password (the router Password) as I had used on MyHomeRouter. The AC1750 had extended my current network and it did not require me to create a new network or new password. Before I connected, I checked my upload and download speeds on speedtest.net and got less than 1 Mbps upload and less than 1 Mbps download. After connecting to MyHomeRouter, I got approximately 90 Mbps upload and 10 download--both considered excellent speeds.

Easy to install and works well if you have a 5 GHz router. However you must be aware of a little flaw that may be a problem for some users. Even though your router is dual band some of them (may be all?) cut the 5 GHz at night to go on 2.4 GHz mode. This reduces the range of WIFI signal and the warning light turns red on the extender to let you know that it does not receive the router signal anymore. In the morning the router goes back to 5 GHz mode automatically and the extender should do the same. But it does not. You have to unplug it and plug it in an outlet closer to your router until the warning signal turn blue, indicating that the extender get the 5 GHz signal again. At that point you can move your extender back to its initial location and it works fine ... MoreEasy to install and works well if you have a 5 GHz router. I bought this RE450 extender in addition to a refurbished RE550 (Ac1900). Both give good performance. You can set them up by computer or the "Tether" app. The app gives you more feature control from your phone such as programming on and off times, daylight saving time adjustments, turning off the LEDs for room light control, and evaluating unit placement from the main router. I also wanted the unit for its Ethernet port since my router ports were getting crowded out as well as the area with devices.

I bought one of these to test at work before recommending to some of our customers/ colleagues at other companies to use with our product. It has worked Flawlessly in my experience. You Must have close enough to main router to get a good enough signal to retransmit. You can also run an Ethernet cable from your main router to this extender for even better speed performance. FYI, if you have 2.4 hz and 5hz the 5 hz will be faster but 2.4 has longer range. If you have enough speed in 2.4 use it for longer range.
Web Browser setup doesn't work, forcing to go to the app. I did find the web address via my router log in, but that was viewing a YouTube help video. Even entering the web browser is a little confusing and/or incomplete. For example, I can't change the channel on my extended 2.4 or 5.0 bands. Also, I connected my Tablo device to the extender because it was too far away from my router but closer to my attic antenna. I can't figure why it keeps losing connection forcing my to press the reset button on my Tablo device. I'm also confusing why Speedtest shows strange numbers on the .ext modes. I would expect the speed of the extended to come close to the non-extended modes but it doesn't.
I am a bit conflicted about this product... I needed Wifi in my garage which is detached / separate from my house. Yes it works plugged into a powerpoint on the back wall of my house and I now have wifi access in my garage. Set up was pretty easy with no complications or issues. The main thing I am disappointed in is it creates a different Wifi network, and you need a separate wifi name and password to access it... I assumed it would be the same Wifi (log-in name and password) but no, it adds an _EXT to the end of your wifi name and you need to create a separate password for it. In hindsight I'd prefer it to be just the same / one network and log-in password.
TLDR: The set up with the app is easy as pie, took less than 5 minutes, and my internet is so, so much better I am SO relieved.I live in an old, long and weirdly shaped apartment with thick walls. The internet router is at the other end of the apartment from my office, and I can't move it closer without getting someone in to rewire things. I've been struggling with very slow internet in my office/this end of the apartment, and have been dropping Zoom calls, lagging/unable to load 2-3 webpages at once, can't really stream video without buffering forever, can't even stream anything on Spotify without interruption. So far no noticeable drop in video quality, things just maybe load a second slower than closer to the main router- which I will take! I was skeptical and very glad this worked. It was very easy to set up with the Tether app, took less than 5 minutes.
Needed internet access in an outbuilding which was in direct line of sight, through a brick wall, of the router but too far away for WiFi to reach (20m).Had spent days looking online at dual band and tri band, WiFi 5 and WiFi 6, which really confused me and the variations in price and reviews were bogging me down.Decided to just give this a try as it was on offer. It works!Initially placed (10m) halfway between the router and where I wanted the signal as instructed, the device lit up green suggesting good connectivity but it didn't give me the improved range I wanted so moved further away.At 16m away, still green, the coverage and speed was much improved but not good enough for high speed gaming. At 27m away, the signal was now red and it suggested I ... Our pc was connected through 2.4ghz and the Netflix through 5Ghz.As a bonus, I can also connect to WiFi, right down the garden another 15m further on from the extender which is 27m from the router!Technical stuff - I have WiFi-5, dual band (should say on your router whether it's 5 or 6, or disconnect and connect to your WiFi and if it says WAP-5 then it's WiFi 5, if you have the option of 2.4 and 5Ghz then you have dual band - if it doesn't show on your router, type 192.168.1.254 into the internet search bar and use the passcodes on the back of your router to log onto your router control centre and it should tell you under 'my devices'). I doubted whether the tri-band devices would work with my dual band router which is part of the reason I purchased this extender.I'd happily buy another at full price now and have recommended to family and friends.
My wireless router is near one corner of our our 2,000 sf single-story house and in turn near one corner of our rectangular 12,000 sf lot. Signal begins to fade on phones at the opposite end of the house and much of the back yard. We don't put much demand on the system (an outside web-connected weather station but no TV streaming, and primary computer use is via desktop), but would be nice to have a wireless connection for the phones when outside.Bought two of these and daisy-chained them together so now I have coverage all around the property. Router links to first unit in the laundry room, which in turn is linked to the other in the detached garage toward the rear property line.Only downside is no automatic hand-off from one unit to another as the phone moves ... But it's a minor inconvenience and something is better than nothing for the price. Much cheaper than investing in a $$$ mesh system which is over-kill for our needs.
This TP-Link Extender presented a bit of a setup challenge, but once configured, its performance has been stellar. The range extension is impressive, significantly improving my Wi-Fi coverage. The AC1750 speed ensures a reliable and fast connection. The initial setup complexity is worth the effort for the subsequent seamless operation. This extender has effectively eliminated dead zones, providing consistent connectivity throughout my home.
