Best investment for my two Unifi AP AC Pros and they're working just fine as they have a max wattage of 9W vs the TP-Link output of 15W 802.3af compatibility rating. Each Unifi AP are 25ft to 50ft apart from the TP-Link switch on CAT6. I have a lot of interference in my place so this was optimal distance. Since my L***sys EA7500 Wifi fried after 5yrs, a home network upgrade project was the best decision to move away from cheap consumer level with low security controls such as Firmware/Software security updates. This switch will act alone since it is a unmanaged switch for my PoE APs and routing/vlan management will be done through my MikroTik hAP AC2 router.

I just needed a cheap POE switch to run my work phone and laptop from my home Firewall. At first, I thought it was defective because I kept getting disconnected. I found out that there was an issue in my FW config and once I fixed that, this little guy works perfect. It's small and fits behind my phone to hide it. Two minor drawbacks: 1) I wish it had rubber feet so it wouldn't move so easily on the desk, and 2) I wish the A/C power cable would attach a bit more securely into the switch. It doesn't go in very far and I've knocked it out a couple times when I bumped my phone into it, mostly because it moved the switch.

I use this POE 8-port switch to power three IP security cameras, along with handling the data for several others. These cameras are running 24/7/365, sending their video streams to the PC that runs the NVR. I set all this up for the first time in October of 2014! I've been expecting something to go wrong, as it seems nothing is designed to last very long these days. Here we are, starting off 2020 and this little switch is still humming along with no issues. I gotta say, I am pretty impressed that something at this price point can take this kind of constant workload and keep going for 6 years (or longer!). I have another TP-Link 16 port switch that handles the rest of my network (not camera related) traffic for the house and it has also been flawless for 6 years now too.

I went on a trip and upon return I had to quarantine for 2 weeks. I had taken my desk phone from work home. But it requires a PoE switch. I works perfectly. I originally got it for PoE cameras (which I also tested during the quarantine period) and it worked perfectly. I would definitely recommend any one who needs a PoE switch. If you don't need a PoE switch, TP-Link also have regular gigabit switches (I have two switches, 5 port and an 8 port, and the are used 24/7 and work great). Hard to beat the value.

Total plug and play. No product registration, find network or anything. I plugged my two new Lorex system cameras into the switch, plugged the switch into my network and turned on the power, and my system immediately found and turned on the cameras (POE). I purchased a NETGEAR switch and had the opposite experience. I purchased this after I got tired of trying to make the NETGEAR switch work (registering, uploading an app and trying to find the cameras). Literally plug and play. Great for people who aren't technically proficient, like me. Oh, and lifetime warranty. Five stars because they don't have six.

26 April 2020

We will likely add a PTZ camera, so having this device with POE is future-proofing our network at church. Plus the Gigabit rating is needed for use with NDI cameras. We already webcast at high network speeds, so the capabilities are best to future proof our simple ethernet network at church. With competing demands on the network bandwidth, it matches the 550 Mb/s of our fioptics network. Streaming a webcast doesn't tolerate contention for the bandwidth. So this device is one more piece that helps keep the network at peak performance by removing a potential bottleneck.

Works Great.
6 June 2024

I bought this to create a wired backhaul for my 3-pack (router+2nodes) mesh setup. It worked great. A few things to note. This is a PoE which will come with a brick-like powerpoint. The wired backhaul doesn't need PoE, but for a little more, I can connect PoE devices when I want to upgrade later. The LED lights are a tad bright for a home setting, but I put it in the closet so I don't really see it..something to think about. There is no noise bc of the fanless cooling. Bunnings was happy to price match, happy customer.

Works great for PoE Cameras
14 March 2022

I'm adding PoE IP cameras from the soffits of my garage and needed an easy way to power 4 of them without having to pull 4 cables up through a hard to pull chase way. Added this in the attic where there's a single outlet and - instantly all 4 cameras have power. Space is non-insulated so this has performed fine at -20F outside so far - will see how it does in the summer heat - but so far very happy with the performance and the price point.Connects to a 5 port TP-Link Omada switch inside that tags all traffic with the video camera VLAN and works great!

it's ok, but beware that if your poe device needs 24V, they will not be powered by this switch
24 May 2024

I wanted to power an edge router X behind my tv with less cables, but the er-x cannot be powered by this switch because it expects 24 V only. I did not see anything neither on the product page nor in the documentation about this limitation.Too bad, but otherwise the switch is compact, light and low profile.
