Amazing little Spinner! I’m scheduled to travel in a week and I can’t wait to take this out in the field. I dress well when traveling and my luggage is an extension of my style. This Spinner looks great, stands out in a sea of black luggage and glides effortlessly from my initial tests. I’ve done a test pack to see if it would fit a week’s worth of my “big man” clothes and it fits 4 days of pants, shirts and underwear plus with room for more. For some reason I really like double zippered compartments and most bags only have one. This one has two which makes me so happy! All the extra pockets are perfect for other small accessories and the wet compartment is perfect for toiletries. I’m a tall dude so having a handle that fits me is so important. Beautiful Luggage set and I ordered because the reviews that I read said a hard sided lighter color luggage is less likely to show marks. The ease of rolling is awesome. I do love the color and it's very easy to find on the luggage rack. I also love the reinforced corners. Previously, I owned Rimowa; however, after years, and multiple trips, the corners cracked outside the warranty. As a result, I opted for Travelpro because I see so many airline staff and customers carrying this luggage. I do travel frequently, and after the first trip which included 4 flights, the silver reinforced corners are scuffed black, The larger case is very heavy. I had difficulty lifting it on the check in scale for less than 40lbs, and I am an athletic person. I travel every week of the year and have always used carry-on luggage to ensure I have what I need while on the road. I decided to invest in the Travel Pro Platinum Hardside Spinner because of the issues I have had in the past. The most memorable aspect of this fine piece of luggage is the ease of movement. You will notice it every time you move the luggage so you are constantly reminded of the quality you invested in. I had always found that other luggage options always seemed a bit flimsy due to thin wall thickness and different wall designs. The Travel Pro Platinum Hardside Spinner wall strength provides a solid feeling of robust design. The handle extension is definitive and positive as you adjust to meet your needs. Bought the large piece in this set while on a guided tour in Hawaii. My luggage broke flying into HNL Airport. I was specifically looking for a piece that could hold up and was easy to wheel and not feel like you were dragging the luggage through the airport. I previously had soft luggage so I was a little skeptical on the hard sided. This luggage fit the bill! We traveled through 4 other islands with tour guides loading and unloading all the luggage in coach busses and piling luggage on luggage carts. 5 Flights and transports and the luggage looks new. Wheels are awsome. I am glad the Salesperson suggested this brand. I have had the compact sized hardside spinner for about a year now, and have just returned from a two week trip to California and several countries in Europe where I only traveled with carryon luggage - this bag, and a personal item sized messenger bag from another brand. I did have regular access to laundry, but this bag performed excellently again in every way. It fit comfortably in a variety of overhead bins from wide bodies to regional jets, as well as the luggage racks of commuter and TGV trains. It swallowed all of my clothing and belongings as well as the many items I purchased enroute. I use packing cubes and although they are from a different brand, they fit perfectly in this bag making it easy to pack, unpack, and use all the available internal space ... MoreI have had the compact sized hardside spinner for about a year now, and have just returned from a two week trip to California and several countries in Europe where I only traveled with carryon luggage - this bag, and a personal item sized messenger bag from another brand. It swallowed all of my clothing and belongings as well as the many items I purchased enroute. I use packing cubes and although they are from a different brand, they fit perfectly in this bag making it easy to pack, unpack, and use all the available internal space efficiently. The ability to house a rechargeable battery with both USB-A & C outputs is a nice extra. The zippered dividing panels work well and the included pockets are useful. My absolute favorite feature of this bag however is the wheels. This spinner glides and rides over everything effortlessly (except some plush carpets, but that applies to all spinners). Travelators, airport floors, sidewalks, roads - you name it and this bag is a dream to have alongside you. Even with my messenger bag sitting on top, not once did this bag ever feel like it was unbalanced, let alone going to fall over. The telescopic handle is also surprisingly durable, allowing me to lift it heavily laden up and down short flights of stairs. It's easily repairable too. If any component were to break, it's designed to be accessed and replaced. It's also more stylish than many other popular brands. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this bag to anyone who can travel relatively light and needs an international carryon sized spinner. Even better if you can pick one up at a Travel Pro outlet!
It’s a good carry on hard case. I’ve only made 2 trips with it and it’s been fine. I am worried about durability. My other recent TravelPro purchases have not held up as well as their older products. The only compartments are 3 flat zipper slots on interior covers - they are pretty small. There could have been a fourth one but for some reason that space is not utilized. The rollers are good. My normal carry on is a 2 wheeled TravelPro. Not sure if I like this better or not - it’s different rolling it upright than pulling behind. Case fits nicely in the overhead so far but I have not flown on a smaller regional jet yet. Definitely will not fit under the seat in front of you. I have a 3 week international business trip with 12 different flights coming up - haven’t ... MoreIt’s a good carry on hard case. I’ve only made 2 trips with it and it’s been fine. I will mention that the TravelPro backpack that I replaced with another similar TravelPro backpack has not held up - in the market for another and am exploring TravelPro alternatives this my 4 stars. TravelPro is not the same quality as 10 years ago.
I gave it four stars because the single point of contact: the handle. While it's a nice, comfortable, and grippy rubber, it absorbs the heat of your hand and gets very hot. I'm sensitive to this, my wife is not, and when I told her to hold it after the long indoor walk thru Kansai Airport to the trains, she was shocked at the heat it retained. I will probably wrap it with something that let's the heat go, like bicycle handlebar tape.Coming from a single backpack, I got the small one, as I often end up on European carriers that check the carry on sizes. On smooth pavement, the wheels are excellent. All bags of this type don't deal with bumpy pavement well (think flag or cobblestones, certain types of coarse aggregate), but it goes to two wheels easily and did as ... MoreI gave it four stars because the single point of contact: the handle. All bags of this type don't deal with bumpy pavement well (think flag or cobblestones, certain types of coarse aggregate), but it goes to two wheels easily and did as well as a small wheeled case could. The zippered compartments are ok, but it forces you to pack differently if you use packing cubes (they may allow you to eliminate them for the most part). I found I can still get a couple of items in the center before you zip it up without expanding. It took a big hit when on two wheels on the narrow side, I was sure there would be a gash or scratch, but nothing, durability seems good. There is also no specific place to attach a luggage tag, which I find a curious omission. Putting it on the handle makes it go up and down with the handle and isn't ideal.
After the airline destroyed my samsonite soft side I decided to research for hard side and I found travel pro. I love everything about it from the inside zippered closures, the locks, phone charger, the wheels , manageability and the excellent quality they have. I just returned from a cruise and my first airline trip with the luggage. My friend had Kohls luggage. The wheels on my luggage were awesome. They roll anywhere even carpet. I could use one finger to roll it. (Hers fell over constantly and she had to pull them on two wheels with her cheap attachable bag which made it too heavy.) I purchased the travel and leisure under the seat tote in Monaco blue that goes on top of my carry on with the trolley sleeve. . Classic case of "you get what you pay for." I recently purchased this to replace a 14 year old Orvis rollaboard that still works but was showing its age. That bag cost $400, so I consider this a good deal at under $300 for Travelpro's premium line. The bag is slightly oversized but fits perfectly in overhead bins and has the ability to expand. I first ordered a Monos Pro Carry-on and it was very small, meeting the exact specs that airlines issue. These specs are nonsense since the sizing bins and overheads are larger. After much research I landed on this model and is perfect. The zippers are heavy duty and the dual zipper compartments on the inside are well designed. The wheels have magnets which make the wheels roll in line with each other; very nice feature that ... MoreClassic case of "you get what you pay for." Looking at many bags, the build quality of the wheels superior to anything else on the market.
We purchased the large and carry-on pieces of this model.First the good: Awesome looks, wheels are amazing, storage to spare. The bad: Did not survive its first flight from our home city to Las Vegas and back. The sides of the luggage are too thin and fragile. Our large piece's side was fractured from what I assume was another piece of luggage placed on top of it.Isn't the purpose of hard sided luggage to protect the contents from other luggage?I was excited to use this luggage and came back VERY DISAPPOINTED!We are returning all four pieces under the 100 day return policy. I should say, we are attempting to return all four pieces.Travelpro's support is HORRIBLE!. The phone number for Travelpro support says you can Live Chat, but there is not an option to on their website.Travelpro Support has been all but unresponsive and when they do respond, they DO NOT answer your questions including exchanging the luggage for a different Travelpro model. If I could rate their Support negative points I would! With that being said, I do think Travelpro makes some good luggage, just not this model. Once we have this fiasco taking care of, I really need to evaluate whether or not I will purchase another Travelpro product. Mostly due to their customer support or lack their of.I will definitely not order directly from their website again. If you do purchase a Travelpro product, go through Amazon or another reseller so you can avoid the issues we are having purchased directly from them.
