Travelpro Platinum Elite Softside Expandable Spinner Wheel Luggage

After fighting my wife's old Samsonite through airports on an international trip, I researched the best brands and landed on this replacement suitcase from Travel Pro. We just completed our first international trip with this new suitcase and I am BEYOND HAPPY with its performance! Its maneuverability and performance through the airport including Customs transfers, then trains and Metros, up/down stairs and escalators was flawless! Despite all of our handling and that of the airlines, its durability showed through and there are no signs that there will be any airport handling problems in the future due to craftsmanship. If I could improve anything, it would be the zippered expansion...it is only on the bottom half of the suitcase. Despite all of our handling and that of the airlines, its durability showed through and there are no signs that there will be any airport handling problems in the future due to craftsmanship. If I could improve anything, it would be the zippered expansion...it is only on the bottom half of the suitcase. While I understand that it helps keep the center of gravity low so that the suitcase doesn't become top-heavy when expanded, I would prefer the full expansion. However, with the lower half expansion only, I still would have moved the TSA zipper lock to the top of the suitcase instead of where it currently is...right where the expansion zone begins. It seems that this could place the zippers under undue stress when the suitcase is expanded.

The soft materials seem strong and durable, addressing the usual issue with softcases. However, this makes the overall weight slightly heavier than other soft and hard case luggage. The compartment for hanging/folding suits and shirts is very useful for keeping them wrinkle-free and saves storage space. Also, the waterproof pouch keeps any liquid container from spilling all over. Another high point is the wheel — it feels smooth on any surface. Leathers on the handles are a nice addition to give a luxurious look — but I would like to have the matching leather tag included, too.The medium size is good for a week of travel and some space for gifts and souvenirs. Expansion is also a feature that I want because we never know if we need extra space. The Platinum Elite ... MoreThe soft materials seem strong and durable, addressing the usual issue with softcases. Expansion is also a feature that I want because we never know if we need extra space. The Platinum Elite offers features and qualities similar to other premium luggage that is much more expensive. I’m happy with the purchase. Of course, many cheaper options are available, but the build quality is not comparable. This luggage would last a long time, if not a lifetime.

I frequently take 3-4 day trips and have used a small checked bag and an un underseater carry on. I was nervous about using a carryon that had to be stored in the overhead bin as I am 5'2" with a bad shoulder and was concerned about being able to lift it by myself. After tiring of the baggage claim hassle and much research I decided on the TravelPro Elite carryon and matching backpack. I took my first trip a couple of weeks ago and could not be more pleased with the versatility. The bag is not heavy and I had no issues getting it in or out of the overhead bin. The included suiter kept my work clothes nicely. I took a small steamer for wrinkles and didn't even have to use it.
