Very capable right out of the box, solid build quality, blue is slightly darker than in pic's online which is a nice surprise, pair with the pro light kit looks epic!
The Traxxas TRX4M Defender has been a revelation for me - I have been building custom SCX24 for a couple of years and they are fairly specialised, would never think of taking one in water, sand or mud. Enter this blue beast. Traxxas got it right almost everywhere - bushings and plastic gearing will last very well and are very resilient to harsh use like getting stuck in the mud or sand and going in and out of water. THe only things I swapped straight away were the shocks for a bit more damping and smoothness and the wheels and tyres as I have many sets here from SCX24 experimentation over the years. Be wary that Traxxas implemented a proprietary battery connector here that means you will be stuck using the USB charger which so far has been fine... but I don't like having to guess where it's at in terms of storage charges etc. Fairly easy to make a charge adapter (Youtube) but as with all RC - lipo carries real risk of fire so must be carefully looked after.
