A Wonderful Lens for Cramped Spaces

This is a very wide lens that is created for tight spaces. I like this lens because it is light and sharp. And with minimized lens distortion. Unfortunately, it is mostly made of plastic like what some people complained about but for me, it's fine because I like my lens light and I handle all my photo lenses with utmost care. I shoot mainly photographs and dark interiors with cramped spaces, so the aperture of f1.8 is very pleasing to have. I know of people who call this their vlogger's lens. But remember, this is not your everyday lens for photography but it's a wonderful lens to have when you're stuck in tight spaces.

This lens returns me to the old days of zone focusing primes. There is a certain freedom in that. Because this fisheye is not a full-circle type fisheye, but a full-corner with barrel distortion it is easier to use in a larger variety of situations. This isn't the world's champion sharp lens but is more than sharp enough, especially with low to moderate sharpening, to look good for just about any shot. This may give you a small start if you are used to manual lenses with the informational and focusing-aid chip but you will get used to it in no time. You can see the effect of the f-stop as you change the aperture. So that is very direct, and, as I noted, zone focusing frees you up, especially because of the depth of field at 11mm.I do like the lens. A lot. And it makes a more compact form than my Tonkina 16-28 with lens adapter (which is much sharper on its own) and also far, far lighter to carry. At the price ($200+) it is more than worth getting. This is a can't really go wrong lens.NOTE: I tried to upload a couple of full-size JPGs but caught errors. So I'm stuck with web size (900 pixels max side length) so you can't really see how good the detail is (though it does need a tad bit of sharpening).

Also it is not Weather Sealed so you will want to be careful in your shooting environment.I really enjoy some the the perspectives you can get with these fisheyes with the right subject matter. For this price you can't go wrong even if it's only used occasionally.I've include a few quick test shots as I have only had it a short time and have not taken out in the field yet.

Bang for your buck!
25 January 2022

The price of fun has rarely been this reasonable! I got my lens quickly from B&H and it has spent a surprising amount of time on my R5. The focus peaking works great. Given the tremendous depth of field with this lens, it's a great intro for anyone curious to try a manual focusing lens. I'm exploring how to exploit the lens and find it especially good for patterns- lights, ice formations, and look forward to wildflowers this summer. The lens is well built. It is solid, but not awkwardly heavy. Easily fits in my coat pocket to bring along on walks for times when subjects present themselves. You will want to have this lens with you. The more you use it, the more you will see ways to use it.

Built like a tank and works really well for the price!

I wasn't expecting a whole ton but like other reviewers, this little lens is very underrated and people should try it! It's not a circular fisheye which I wanted but also it was a last-minute purchase to see if it will work with shooting astrophotography. I did de-fish the image and there are soft corners and some coma but for the price, I cannot complain. But during the day, shooting things up close, the image is ridiculously sharp as is without any correction. I was quite surprised!I've seen people do real estate photography and as long as you know how to correct the image including the elongated objects in the foreground, this can be a cheap way to take a simple ultrawide shot and correct it in post.Compared to Laowa's rectilinear 10mm lens, yes, you'll have ... MoreI wasn't expecting a whole ton but like other reviewers, this little lens is very underrated and people should try it! The astro was shot at ISO 4000, f/2.8, and for 30 seconds. I didn't do any flat, bias, and dark images for stacking. This area in NH is Bortle 2 darkness so the light pollution was minimal. This lens does make it easier not having to capture so many images but the details definitely aren't like from shooting with a regular wide-angle lens. This is perfectly normal, of course. In either case, I'm very happy and worth exploring with it more!

Hard to fault even if you are a Professional !
16 December 2021

Lens is hard to fault in any basic area. Highly advise running tests on tripod with progressive focus changes of the infinity setting. Compose with trees in upper corners of frame. I found lens to have excellent overall sharpness on tripod at f8 when infinity was set set correctly. Color, contrast and character of lens was very good for a wide angle lens regardless of price. Really fun lens with quality images that hold up surprising well on 47mp sensor of S1R Lumix. Inexpensive in this case does not mean low quality images.

Interesting Lens
22 October 2021

This is a fun lens to own. Full manual control can be challenging but it is not that hard honestly if you keep at it and learn the nuances that makes a lens like this really shine. 11 mm is 180 degree field of view and you can get some really interesting shots with this. Plan for some correction in post to smooth out the distortion that comes with any fisheye lens.I put this lens on more often than I thought I would and I really dig the different looking shots you can get. Shooting in portrait at 11mm makes for some photos that you are just not going to see many of. I like to do funky things and break the rules....and this lens, for this price, is worth the investment in my opinion.

My beloved Nikon DX 10.5 mm f2.8 fisheye unfortunately cannot be fully utilized with Z system. I decided to try full frame lens and inexpensive TTArisian looked like good candidate. In first examination of new arrived lens I liked solid metal construction even if I'm not big fan of metal lenses. Also my fist impression of tight focusing thread was very positive, I didn't like aperture ring with no clicks. Lack of incremental, stepped adjustment of aperture is little annoying as it is easy to move ring during shooting session.Going further with my list of improvements needed for this lens:- Antireflection layers are not good enough. There is a lot of ghosting, rainbow reflections and some loss of detail because this flaw.- There is heavy vignetting with closing aperture but, correction in LR easy takes care of this.- I would love to have this lens with chip to at least read information to camera. Now positive experience:- Lens is as sharp as best Fisheyes on the market. Practically all apertures are very sharp.- Color aberration are so small that I can't find any negative effect.- Shooting against the light is fantastic with this lens.- Shooting architecture is an adventure of fantasy.- Geometry correction in LR or PS allows to make very usable reproduction. In summary of this short review, I would buy this lens again, it is fantastic tool. With all negative comments I gave, I'm still rating this lens full 5 stars!

Purchased this for my BMPCC 6K Pro, needing a quick and affordable solution for a wide angle for video. This is a photography lens, and not the cine glass that would have been ideal, but budget did not permit to consider anything above this price. That being said - I am very pleased with how it has worked so far - I expected an unforgivable amount of distortion and have been surprised by the final image after processing on Davinci. In terms of value, and the category - 5 stars.

Solid Fisheye for RF - Good Price
17 September 2021

I purchased this lens for my Canon R6 to replace a Canon EF 15mm 2.8 that I used to own - very pleased with purchase.Lens is solidly constructed out of metal and has a native RF mount so I do not need an EF to RF adapter - a big plus. This is a fully manual lens but easy to use. First - set the camera's custom function to allow the camera to shoot with no lens attached. Since there are no electronics in this lens, your camera thinks there is no lens attached when this is on your camera. Second, set the camera to Av (aperture priority) mode. Select aperture on the lens ring (with sufficient light, select f/8 or higher to help ensure everything will be sharp). Frame photo and focus manually using the lens. Either use that to artistic effect - or use software to de-fish the photo. There are good resources on the Web to learn about this. I purchased Hemi Fisheye for Photoshop Version 2 and have gotten good results.See attached sample photo of Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Park - Queens NY, USA.Highly recommended for a reasonable fisheye on a Canon R, RP, R5, or R6.
